Do vets not just put such animals down anymore? Cats getting cancer treatment, diabetic dogs the mind boggles![/QUOTE]

He's not getting treatment, just having the ears off, anesthetic, bit of scalpel work and cauterization to seal it off. Should keep him for another couple of years.

Just back from there some interesting discussions including getting insurance in case your dog attacks sheep. Allianz will do that apparently!

yeah. think it was a weeks ban. Dared suggest using Storm to control a rat problem, or else get a good terrier. This was in response to a lady who wanted to re-home feral cats on the family farm. i mentioned the danger of cats on a sheep farm. Got banned for two things actually, first of all the Mod reckoned that " everyone knows that people use Storm to kill Cats" and secondly, they wanted no more talk about killing animals.

    No colostrum day 1
    €100 to vet day 2
    €30 to knacker day 3

Or as AHI put it, 3L of colostrum within first 2 hours. Nothing new ;)

Got it. We tube calves on sight and tag. Tag indicates colostrum. I see them at 23.30 and if nothing sick to calve go to bed will be seem at 5.30 and any calves wl be tubed. Chances are the oldest will be born at 2 am so within 3.5 hrs for colostrum

I wouldn't worry to much about the colour of it so long as the consistency of it is solid. Is she sucking the cow or bottle fed?
