Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    I don't drink myself but someone close would really love it! Tesco, Aldi or Super Valu, as that is what's near.

    Beaumont des Crayeres Champagne is very good, good fizz as well.

    I would say you would need to go to a wine shop, tescos own brand champagne is not bad either, had it a couple of years ago.

    How much are we talking for a "cheap" bottle? Money is no problem, incidentally, but do I put it in the fridge? Non drinker here, all advice considered!

    30-40 euro will get you a nice bottle, i would chill the bottle, some people do a rapid chill in ice. Chill bottle for half hour before serving be fine.

    Veuve somethingsomething at €20 a bottle in Aldi trumpeted by Tom Doorley and beat some fancy names in a blind tasting.
    Chilled but not overly so. Fridge it, but ideally remove to warm a little before serving.

    Lidl Prosecco is gorgeous,way better then cheap champagne.

    Yeah I'd definitely consider a prosecco rather than a champagne- for the price you'd spend on a cheap champagne you'd get a very good prosecco. I'm in no way an expert but I like both and wouldn't be bothered spending a fortune on champagne just to be able to call in champagne. Then again, if it's a special gift then splashing out is nice too!

    Cheap Champagne can taste terrible. A nice sparkling white wine can be way nicer. Agree with Moonbeam's suggestion.

    I picked up two bottles of Aldi's Monsigny Champagne at €20 each.
    I'd seen a documentary recently where they blind tasted champagnes and this one scored a little higher than Moet on taste.
    I'll let you know if it's nice when I open it in the morning!
