I dont think it had anything to do with what/who Celtic support.

I think it was just thugs looking for a thrill with a excuse or 2 thrown it so they could.

Ajax fans have a pretty bad reputation sure, but mainly against domestic rivals. Why did they start so much trouble against our fans? They didn't do it to Barca or Milan afaik.

In all honesty we're probably seen as an easy target because of how chummy we try and be. Then again, look at the sort of press we get when some of our fans defend themselves.

True, some of the guys I work with were arguing amongst themselves yesterday when some said we should never fight and others say if you are attacked you defend yourself. I agree with the latter, Celtic fans were attacked and fought back. It now appears that the Dutch undercover police attacked and did not like the response!

Ajax fans being scum, the police being scum and the press jumping on the reaction of some Celtic fans (or "sweeping it under the rug", depending on who you listen to and how many eyes you open ;) ) was all very predictable. For me the only question is will the club back the fans for once. In fairness, from their statement it does seem they know the score so fair play.

Why did Police want to fight Celtic?

    any logical reason out there?

Police in Europe wanting to set in about UK football fans, hardly news. Especially when they're dressing up as home side casuals. Some irony in them crying to the law when they get battered for it though :pac:

    1-0 Van Dijk

A Corner Set Piece Routine from the training ground by Mulgrew & Izaguirre to set it up (nearly made a balls of it). Ross County are playing very defensively, banks of 5 & 4, but the breakthrough should open the game up more for Celtic.

    2-0 Van Dijk

Another corner by Mulgrew, perfectly flighted and a glancing header by Van Dijk left Mark Brown with no chance

A few meaty challenges flying in from Ross County players.

That Kovacevic guy has lost it

Kovacevic is losing his nut! Brown is laughing his arse off at him

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Lennonist

Ross County making substitutions there, if they were smart they would have took off Kovacevic.

    2-1 Sproule

Forster did well to get a strong arm to the initial deflected shot but couldnt palm it away. Who was suppose to follow in with Sproule?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Lennonist

    Nice 1 Joe

    3-1 Ledley

Long Diagonal Balls by Mulgrew to Izaguirre been working well all day, Izaguirre playing very well going forward.

De Leeuw should have gotten red and at least a 3 match ban if Scott Browns recent red card is anything to go by...

    4-1 Joe Ledley

    Great cross by Fisher

Brown laughing at Kovacevic again, LOL!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    Brown 3 - 0 Kovacevic

    EDIT

Ledley off the crossbar from a follow up from an initial Rogic shot

Ambrose has a knock here from De Leeuw, another stud rake on an achilles today

4 headed goals from Celtic

More dodgy challenges on Fisher and Ambrose. It's no wonder we pick up so many injuries

Good to see Ledley back scoring goals.

Great performance (as much as I saw, missed first goal) and great result. Good confidence booster coming back off a disappointing CL game. Was expecting a poor game today so nice to be surprised!

I know you can't compare the two games, but I do think we need to be more confident about our ability in the CL, especially against teams like Ajax.

Nice to see Broony back, no need for the gamesmanship with Kovacevic imo, just get on with it and let Kovacevic be a dick if he wants to be.

Only downside for me is the lack of goals coming from our strikers at the moment.

Delighted for VVD to get a couple, turning out to be a super buy for us.

I'd not seen Fisher before, seems like a good option there.

For all the stick Mulgrew gets, I can see why Lenny picks him every time. Dependable, good for taking frees and corners, comes up with the odd goal to save the day also. Thought he was very good today, and brilliant delivery into the box for VVD's 2nd goal.

Anyone think Rogic will break into the team? There's a few ahead of him, will be hard for him to make any impact.

Didn't see the whole game either. From what i saw Biton looked good as well, though Ross County didn't present much of a challenge. Brown played in a more advanced role than usual, with Ledley, Biton and Mulgrew in midfield (Mulgrew may have started LM?). No sign yet that Rogic will make it as a regular starter.

Commons and Samaras didn't play due to injuries, you'd wonder how fit they were to start v Ajax last Wednesday. Commons in particular didn't look fully fit in that game, neither him or Samaras played well v Ajax. Up front is the main problem, we really need someone who can finish chances, a striker who has the knack of being in the right places at the right time to get goals.

Cheeky bid for Hooper next summer maybe. I'd say he's realised his mistake at buying into the Sky Sports hype. Norwich are absolutely gash.

He just won a penalty and then scored the pen against West Ham. He's a decent striker, if Norwich go down, he'll get offers from other EPL sides.

Hooper is gone, there's plenty of other options out there at reasonable prices to solve Celtic's striker problem that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. The club should be prepared to spend at least 5 million on a striker acquisition, if they are serious about maintaining a presence in the Champions League.

Finnbogason has scored 16 goals in 13 games this season. Instead we spent our money on "long term project" Amido Balde and Timu Pukki who I'm not even sure is actually a striker.

Balde seems to have been a complete and utter waste of money. Pukki I have some degree of hope for, but I do agree that neither were the answer we were looking for in the transfer window.

Would we get finnbogoson for 5mil?

Can't see the board going out and paying the guts of 7-9 mil on a player

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Only 1 summer signing hit the ground running & it was Van Dijk. I retain hope for Balde & Pukki to come good on goals but I think they were bought for other aspects to their game. Balde is held in high regard by the coaching staff and has been getting 1 to 1 coaching since he arrived but its going abit Tom Rogic for both of them. I think more specialist coaching for our strikers is required.

There is a long queue for Finnbogoson and it will be the wage packets on offer that will be the stumbling block for Celtic moreso than any transfer fee imo

Good win yesterday, van dijk seems like a top class player on recent performances. Hopefully a few others take a leaf out of his book
