I see. God a strange one Redz, we don't have anything like that around here. So would they get good crowds for both rings?

There's normally more spectators in the runner ring. I think myself there is better value in the other one though. There's never a shortage of cattle for either ring.

I had weanlings in Ennis today. There at 9.30 and had to wait 30 mins to get tru queu. Fellas were driving in and just skipping the queu and unloading, maddening.
Ennis operate a system for weanling bulls, where you can ring in and book them from 8 days before. Draw then for the first 35 lots. Today it was pen 14 first. Then back down to pen 1 and then on from pen 15 again. I had pen 19 so in at 1.30. Trade middling, I thought, but I was selling.:)
I had all mine well weaned and on meal. You'd wonder is it worth it all. Saw loads going through that were off the cow that morning and selling well. You'd have to wonder.

well sory if i jumped you but had a second run nearly 30 miles out

Both Gort and Loughrea have evening marts. Really suits the pt farmer as he does not need to take a day off to sell.

Ya I agree completely. Would love to see it coming in down in our place but I doubt it'll happen any time soon. Good idea alright.

Mountbellew used to be on in the evening, then they changed to during the day, the same day as a mart less than 15miles away!

Called vet. He injected him with god knows what. Lanced the knee. Its been over two weeks since and the knees not great. Vet said give him nothing else bar bathing tje knee with warm salty water.

The vet eventually gave me a bottle that he mixed for me.
He would never tell you what he's given um in case u got educated about it I suppose. Asked him wat it was and he just said "its for swollen navels".
The navel has gone way down thank god but its gone down before a flared back up again.

Dont worry chief itll all balance out in the end,I used to be the sme but i was only putting about 50% of my cowa in calf to freisan.I know put 90% in calf to ai freisan and nearly always end up 50 50 which gives enough replacements and leaves a surplus.ever think of sexed semen???

As Whelan says you have to give it for 10 days for joint ill, it take a long time for antibiotics to work in the joints.
In lambs any way, you only get one chance to cure it, so you hit it hard and for a good few days.

Yeadh i know what ur sayin and a few around me are the same with stock bulls but there heifers are quite a bit back on anyone with ai freisan when it comes to solids kg and %.A very good dairy farmer in my group has some lovely stock ,Very good for type lots of milk but would be always lagging a bit on solids.Only my opinion but ai is worth preserving with as you alway have the best of genetics to pick from

Vet should give you noroclav need to be carefull and get enough needles as you dont want to compromise the drugs.

ring the next local clinic and get a new vet, you make your vet sound like a plonker

His feet shouldn't have touched the ground on the way out after he gave you the "it's for swollen navels" answer.

Anyone ever use that phisolith lime? We used it two years ago and thought it was brilliant stuff. Salesman in the yard here today said now was the time of the year to spread it, thinking of getting it. Anyone else any experience with it?

We used it on a reseed that we couldn't tie in with the blanket lime spreading of the farm, it works out expensive, the reseed field beside it (which has the same lime requirement of 2.5T/Acre) got the lime & we can't see any difference even though the Physolith is supposed to work straight away & the lime takes a yr before it works.

Firstly the rep told us that the Physolith would work for aprox 5 yrs & when we asked that question again he said 2/3 years it would work for.
