Eyebrows

03-02-2013 07:05PM#1Hey just wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to get eyebrows shaped that's not too expensive ? (threaded preferably but I'm not picky ! )
Also does anyone know a good way of keeping eyebrows in place ?!
I've tried hairspray and hair gel/wax but neither seem to really work

Just got my eyebrows done in body shop..been before and did an ok job but usually broke out after a day. However I think my skin is uber sensitive as have been threaded in a good few other places and pretty much broke out after these too. Today however I am NOT happy. I asked the last to tidy them and not make too narrow. I don't think she understood however and just smiled. She then proceeded to thread without cleaning the area first (I had makeup on) and has left me with a very rounded, very narrow shape with one quite obviously skinnier than other. the eyebrow pencil will be getting an outing over the next few weeks! The area also feels v sensitive right now (a few hours later) so I'm nearly certain there will be a breakout tomorrow. I think she broke a bit if skin too as teeny drop of blood in few parts 0

I went to the Body Shop in April and the lady butchered my left brow. Like your experience I don't think she understood what I was saying when I said I wanted them kept as thick as possible etc and just nodded at me and smiled and told me to relax.
She began threading for ages and then she said that she had to tweeze a few hairs- I got such a shock when I saw my left eyebrow-there was a hole in it where she had tweezed!! and my right brow was a complete mess,no shape atal.
She immediately started apologising (knowing how bad they were) and then said she'll try and fix it and went to tweeze some more but I wouldn't let her. She had to phone a colleague to come in and "fix" my brows-the only thing her colleague could do was to thread further up (above the hole) and I was left with 2 vv.skinny brows. I was v.upset. I stupidly paid for the tint and another woman working in the Body Shop just said "oh it'll be grand once you put a pencil through it a few times" !!!!
I was most upset because I can't usually afford to get my brows done often so it was a wee treat for myself and it was ruined
Today was the first day I did anything with them since as I needed them to grow. I'm just back from Elysian brows where I received an excellent service and the lady talked me through how she was going to get the shape back into the brows and told me it'll probably take another 6 months! Elysian were more expensive but I wanted/needed to go somewhere relaible and I'm happy with the results!:)0 -

Really bad idea skimping on your eyebrows, as they shape your whole face. After a few bad haircuts and eyebrow shapes I have learned my lesson. I now go to Shavata in Harvey Nichols in Dundrum. If you ask for Anjana you won't be left disappointed, she's a miracle worker! It's expensive at €20, but well worth it in my opinion. You get your 5th eyebrow shape free and I am not kidding, she does a tremendous job!!!

I've been a good few times now. Going again in October! It's €45 for the 3-5 week brow treatment, and €650 I think for the 18-24 months brows. For me it's worth it. I have really uneven brows and these ladies sort them right out! Have had them threaded, waxed, plucked and tinted at various places but never with results like this.

I'd love to get my brows done properly but I'm just not convinced I have enough hair left to make it worth my while. I went from full-on Eugene Levy monobrow as a child, to overplucking as a teen, so they're in fairly rag order at the moment. Anyone know if any of the recommended places do a consultation first? I know you've to let them grow in before your first session and whatnot, but to be honest with you, other than the odd straggler, not that much grows anymore!
This is them au natural. Thank god for powder pencils, that's all I can say...

Unfortunately for me my brows aren't as neat naturally, and are very over plucked.
I was thinking about growing them out for as long as I can manage and going to the brow Boutique in jervis for hd brows, anyone been?
I was also contemplating buying growth gel stuff to speed up the process, do they work or is it all a big scam?
EDIT: I can't seem to add a picture on my phone, but here are my natural and then filled in brows. Each Hair is very long but as with last poster after years of over plucking not much grows in the places I need it

PG - used to be obsessed with HD brows however, it's overpriced and really just a gimmick.
Leave your eyebrows alone for a while ( my friend recently grew hers out for 8 months coming up to her wedding), don't bother with growth enhancing gel. You'd be surprised when you think you won't get much growth. Tint them before you get them shaped, that way you'll pick up any tiny little blonde hairs that would be unseen before. And then go get them threaded. I would recommend going to a really good threader who you trust not to take too much off the shape. I did my friends for her, so I will try show you before and after photos and the difference 8 months of " not growing" made.
