I saw a programme of the type, 'Banged up Abroad', and they showed an execution room.

I think it may have been Indonesia, but I'm not sure.

The room consisted of a place where the person to be killed was tied, facing a wall,

and about 20ft behind a high powered machine gun mounted on a bench.

You can guess the rest.

The fact that the wall still had the remnants of previous executions and the person to be

killed could see them was harrowing.

Just back from Toledo, Spain and visited the museum of torture, where they had a lot of these tools. Great stuff.

A middle aged guy being slowly trampled to death at a Justin Bieber concert by a mob of hysterical girls. Not only are you dead, but there's also the embarrasment of being at a Justin Bieber concert.

Definitely the recent "Mexican chainsaw execution" that was uploaded to the internet by some drug cartel ranks as probably the worst, probably because I've seen it.

EDIT: number 16 on that list

The Judas Cradle was pretty nasty:

The victim would presumably be placed in the waist harness above the pyramid-shaped seat, with the point inserted into their anus or vagina, then very slowly lowered by ropes. The subject is tortured by intense pressure and stretching of the orifice, eventually succumbing to tears in muscle tissue that could turn septic and kill from infection, or simply being impaled.

In 1514 there was a peasant revolt in Hungary led by Gyorgy Dozsa who had notions of becoming king. When the revolution was crushed Dozsa and the main ringleaders were captured.

As punishment, Dozsa was forced to sit on a red hot iron throne, had a red hot crown placed on his head and had a red hot iron sceptre placed on his lap. His comrades were starved for 14 days before his execution, they were then brought to Dosza and ordered to eat his flesh, any who refused were instantly executed.

The Podcast "stuff you should know" did something like this recently.

By far the worst imo was The Brazen Bull

The brazen bull, bronze bull, or Sicilian bull, was a torture and execution device designed in ancient Greece.[1] Its inventor, metal-worker Perillos of Athens, proposed it to Phalaris, the tyrant of Akragas, Sicily, as a new means of executing criminals.[2] The bull was made entirely of bronze, hollow, with a door in one side.[3] The condemned were locked in the bull, and a fire was set under it, heating the metal until the person inside roasted to death.

Went to a museum is Prague as well with lots of these devices. Very interesting, but extremely grim as you may expect.

Not quite a torture but definitely punishment....

The Cathars were a Gnostic sect of Christianity that fell foul of the Catholic church and were purged (hence the modern word 'catharsis'). Bram, a castle occupied by Cathars, was sacked by evil crusader Simon de Montfort and 100 captives had their eyes, ears and noses cut off...except for one man who was left with one eye to guide his mutilated brethren away

north korea might be the most interesting nowadays .

Normally they execute you by shooting you in front of your family, and as they are guilty by association they get shipped off to labour camps straight from your execution.

But if youre a real enemy of the state, you are executed by mortar bomb.
They tie you up and leave you on a marked spot where a mortar has been targeted on.
Then hey-ho they vaporise you with a single mortar shot.

Actually might be a fairly ok way to go as you definitely wont be suffering for long.
