Nice nice, hope to see you all there.

Are you all bringing in laptops to lectures or not?

Im going to Dcu as a first year 2 years after starting college first I brought a laptop to all lectures and i can't think of a bigger distraction. Probably part of the reason I'm on my second course so I wouldnt recommend bringing one

Second year CA student here. Congratulations to everyone, fantastic course to join. Possibly could be mentoring some of you in Programming labs depending on your surname in the alphabet. :P

To the laptops, not many lecturers (in our experience last year) are very keen on having them in class. Big distraction as said.

Any questions feel free to ask. :)

It pretty much spells it out for you...anything in IT perhaps?

    To be more detailed....

    Application/Deskside Support/Helpdesk
    IT Business Analysts/ Project Management
    System/Network Admins
    Software Engineer/Web Development
    Database Developers/Admins
    Many more subgenres..

It really depends what area you want to go into.

I'm in CA too, and don't own a Laptop... However, I do have a Raspberry Pi...
If there's anyone here, who hasn't joined the 'DCU First Years 2013/14' Facebook page, where all sorts of issues including the likes of this and accommodation are discussed, I give you the link and a wink ;)
