I see a whole list of adds on D Deal, by Major in Ballyhaunis. Mowers, toppers, agitators, etc!
Does that mean they now sell direct?
Did they always sell direct or was it just through dealers?

Iv about 10 acres to top tomorrow morning but there is plenty of buttercup in it .
Never got round to spraying it :( .

Iv dry autumn calvers on it and dont want to take them off the land .
Will they eat the buttercups when there cut and if they do are they toxic to cattle .
No other dangerous weeds like rag on it , jus traneens buttercups and a few clumps of thistles

Often baled silage with a few buttercups in it but this year was a bit of an epidemic .

    Is it dangerous ????

They prob gone to flower? Yes top, no harm to cattle, they won't bother eating them. Then spray the green regrowth with hi load mircam. Leave them off it for 5-7days, then let them back in ;) You'I thank yourself for doing it next spring when you are spreading bag manure on GRASS!

I know this field looked like i was growing oilseed rape few weeks ago .

Will the weeds become palatable a few days after being cut when they start to dry out though ???
    Thats my worry .

Sold 30 lambs in mart yesterday . First of this year .
    49kg suffolk Ram lambs Eur108
45kg black suffolk ewe lambs Eur98

Didnt castrate a lamb this year apart from about 10 really small hoggets lambs .
Thought id need them finished quicker than usual .

Seemed like a lot of lads were thinking the same . Very few wether lambs there

Have you been to mart with any yet?

Got a high thermoduric reading last week. Was 3300. Don't know where it came from. The milk advisor said that the thermo test is going to be replacing the tbc test as it is more sensitive. He also said the slightest bit of dust can set it off and that lads getting continuous high readings will have start washing cows again. Atm here im pre spraying with virolac and drying with towels and dipping between cows and post spraying with the virolac. Any thoughts??

That's was good money seen as the price fell so much in the last 2 weeks.
No unfortunately not. Find the factory handier with work. I actually castrated all ram lambs this year as I got caught with ram lambs last year that no body wanted. Will be on holidays in a coupe of weeks though and will go to mart ten. Have a few hoggets to sell and a few ewes to buy as well.

Hmm can't help you to be honest, but I thought the thermo test and tbc were two totally different things, thermoduric bacteria is a specific bacteria that survives pasteurisation, whereas tbc is just a count of the total bacteria in the milk?

Probably ultimately distributed amongst the trade anyway, as you say some mental prices!

do a descale wash, wash out pipeline, check milk tank... then test again, i think the limit has changed from 900 to 750 for thermo.. it can be hard enough to find the problem

in fairness he was good on the political debates, especially for his anti Sinn Fein line

never really listened to him on the radio

Pat's last good show was "Today Tonight".
His time on the Late Late was just awful stuff. Never listened to him on radio. I'm a Today FM man all day long.
