    Yeah. I know you're right.

But we had a big problem tonight. She bit me and managed to leave a really nasty cut on my hand now. I know it's not her fault, I know she's not being bad on purpose.

But honestly? I actually have started crying a few times today in sheer frustration. As I said, I've gone into a bit more detail over on the Animal forum.

    I'm so, so tired.

You should go to the Doctor for the bite TSC

So a french guy moved into a house i'm living in 2 weeks back. Kept to himself, seemed a nice guy. Last night he went and drank a litre of jameson by himself and went into town. He got talking to a homeless couple, felt sorry for them and invited them stay in our house while my housemates slept. Tv was gone in the morning. The truth only came out tonight when he told our landlord after we complained about him. we thought he left the door open and opportunists took it. So freaked out and scared now

Legally the landlord has to give him 7 days notice to move him and also the small matter of getting him to buy a new tv first. I was talking to the guards and they said he was a liability

Jaysus a far cry from the usual gaa banter in here.

Hope the dog is ok tsc. Hopefully this is just a funny story your tell people about your deadly dog's formative years... years from now obviously.

As far as the homeless people go... As much as it is a nice gesture make sure you know what sort of addiction you're dealing with. From my own personal experience, people will do anything. Way past anything we can comprehend.

How many of ye are there living there? Can ye not just say 'out' don't come back. You can't be forced to live with someone you don't feel safe with. The landlord may have legal issues to consider, i'm not so sure you do.

4 altogether including Frenchie. I'm not sure legally where we stand. Have to look into it today

If only there was a way to set TSC's dog on Monsieur le Dick it could solve a lot of problems in one go....

Hope it all works out guys.

Single post and I won't be discussing more.

After a trip to the vet this mornings, Texas was put to sleep. We showed the vet some video of what was happening, and she said it was definitely aa brain problem that was only going to get worse. She didn't even recommend options but told us there wasn't much choice cause it was only going to get worse.

I know there is some who will think it was a case of me being a bad owner, but it wasn't normal. It wasn't. But I loved her for two weeks and am devastated today.

    Sorry to hear that TSC.

if anyone says you were a bad owner they are a ****ing idiot.

It was a professional that made the recommendation to do what was neccessary and always remember you did all you could for the wee dog.

Reading that post about the TV and Frenchy made me think of this episode of Bottom.

Very sorry to hear that TSC, remember when we had to put our 19yr old jack russel down, very sad moment. :(:(:(:(

Sorry to hear the news TSC . Anyone who knows what its like to have to make a decision like that no matter if you have the pet for 1 day or 10 years its still a tough decision to make

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,996 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Just a quick clarification about earlier remarks. The "Please dont call me a bad owner" thing wasn't aimed at anyone in here. Just....I know it can be hard to get why those decisions had to be made. I didn't mean to imply anyone on here did it.

I just know that often when you research about puppys, people will give out about the number of people who get one without realizing how much hard work it is, and then give up because it was hard work. And I don't want people to think that of me.

Jesus I didn't expect to hear it end this way TSC. I feel bad for joking about it earlier now. So sorry for your loss. Anyone who'd call a guy who so obviously cared for his dog that he wore himself out to the point of tears a bad owner is a cretin. All you did was your best for him and the fact that the vet was so certain in his decision means you had no choice.

Treasure the memories and don't let thus put you off getting a new dog when the time is right. Any creature would be lucky to have you care for them.

Posts like this are why I like this forum and this thread so much. As ever Diabhal says what everyone else is thinking, only better. Im legit upset for TSC but managed a smile at this.

Sorry to hear it TSC. Hope you're okay. Was just a pup but they can grow on you really quick.
I remember having to make the same decision while I was living in Dublin and my parents called me from Donegal about our dog. I did not take it well.

The only Royal arrival I care about is whenever the cousin in Meath has her baby.

It feels like we had her for so much longer than 14 days. But then it was so intense, so they were long days over two long weeks. It was 18 hours a day, every day, taking care of her, and the 6 hours in bed were fractured and spent making sure I didn't miss a toilet break. I never minded that. Its what I signed up for. And I don't regret the experience. I'm choosing to remember the good times, even though they were brief.

As the day has gone on, I've been awash with a mixture of guilt, sorrow and, being honest, relief. But I can't get the image of her sad little face as I walked out of the vet's office out of my head. Mom told me this afternoon that last night, Texas went into a complete trance for a while; her breathing slowed down, her eyes glazed over. Mom said she thought Texas was just going to slip away in the night, but when I woke up in the morning and we made the call to go to the vet, she decided not to push more worry and fear on me until the decision was made. As the day goes on, I think back to some signs that I put down to my own nativity and realized there was quite a bit wrong. Symptoms. Things that just weren't right.

Going to get my first consecutive 7 hours sleep in 14 days now. Have a feeling that if I wasn't so tired, I'd be stuck awake with sadness, but so tired now.

I really do love this board, and the sympathetic posts mean so much. Thank you.
