    wednesday it is then.
Today's isolated thundershower is the first faint sign of a gradual breakdown of this hot, dry weather pattern now indicated on all the global models for mid-week. There won't be much change over the weekend although western counties may see a few more isolated showers or storms. It will stay hot for most regions until Tuesday but the daily coverage of thunderstorms is expected to expand out of the southwest during that period.
Then it's probably Wednesday when this heat and drought will begin to break down more generally across the country as the cooler Atlantic air masses make a gradual return. There could even be some heavy thunderstorms with that change in the pattern. At the moment, the indications for Thursday 25th to end of the month show quite a cooler turn to the weather, which may turn out to be somewhat overdone but we're fairly confident that the heat and worst of the drought should end mid-week, and that temperatures closer to normal (around 20-22 C) should become the trend. At the moment, I'm thinking that August could bring a third major warm spell (recall that we had one in early June, now this one for most of July). But the long-range forecast for August from here anyway is for temperatures slightly above normal and rainfall near or slightly below normal, not as extreme as July has been so far.

Ugh, almost the same problem here, compression switching on and off every minute, no ice at all built up and the milk sitting at 16 degrees! Called the bulk tank repair man, who told me to powerwash all the dust out of the air side of the heat exchanger and let the ice build up for afew hrs. Have done that and got it down to 11 degrees now. I don't know what to do with the milk, to dump it or not (maybe 1300L!), the last time we got a fine for tbc it was 3.3c/l of the full months milk cheque, and warm milk causes tbc to rocket!

Got milk tested this morning is not gone off yet but lab said to get it collected asap. Tech on way out to check tank said is prob compressor alright.

Down in west cork for the week. When you have weather like this why would you leave Ireland?

Was anybody at the infant open day?

Combines out in force around here. Lovely sight.
Saw a field of OSR with the tramlines cut out, how is this done. Would it be a front mower?

I can confirm that the Keenan I have cannot handle dry round bales. Broke a chain this am. It's now full and my job after lunch is to fix chain and empty????
I went and hired a tub some difference.
