Anyone ever use a standard round bale handler (no hydraulic in/out) on a front loader for silage bales? Would it be a disaster?

Works ok just leave extra space between bales to allow for the angled ends

Used one for years need to get handy at letting bale off its a must that the bottom row are straight and in line. then the tricky part getting the first lifted row on leave the bale on the yop of the bale underneath slightly to the side you want it to roll and pullback lively the top bale will roll over if it doesnt a small push will do the job. I made a hydraulic one last yr material cost about 60 euro all told I had a small ram and pipes. I made the quick attach plates from 12mm plate. I had to buy the tines and the sleeves which were 70 euro as I intended to sell it. In the process of making another one at the moment.

Second this, also found bales had to very solid to make the stacking easier,it does the job but when I changed to the ram one it was a big difference if I could afford one I would get the one which squezzes the bale at the sides.

    Hi All,

Not sure if this is the right thread for this post...

We have a few cattle to sell at the moment and I am unsure if I will go to the Mart or factory with them, ideally I would have the grass to feed them but we don't...

What weight would you put on these?
They are all 27 months and from a QA farm.
They are BB from BF's and have been getting 3-4kg of meal the last 6-7 weeks plus grass. Ad lib silage and 2-3 kg of meal in the shed.

We are not that long bringing cattle to this stage to any advice would be appreciated..

The Two blue bullocks made 1,360 and 1,390 in Tullamore Wednesday, happy enough seeing as how factory prices have gone in last two weeks.

Ugh, almost the same problem here, compression switching on and off every minute, no ice at all built up and the milk sitting at 16 degrees! Called the bulk tank repair man, who told me to powerwash all the dust out of the air side of the heat exchanger and let the ice build up for afew hrs. Have done that and got it down to 11 degrees now. I don't know what to do with the milk, to dump it or not (maybe 1300L!), the last time we got a fine for tbc it was 3.3c/l of the full months milk cheque, and warm milk causes tbc to rocket!

were sold for us by local man and I work away so not got full detail other than the most important but I had estimates from local "experts" that they were 580-600kg prior to sale, only the was smaller for 22 out of their 27 months on the farm put some thrive on this the last few months. will let you know tomor when I see full details.
