Today it should fly from Birmingham to Dublin. It should reach PM NI tomorrow afternoon by GLS truck from Dublin and your locker by tomorrow evening or very early Thursday morning. That's the normal time-frame that once shipped, everyone's orders seem to follow, including me for my three orders from Flubit (Google Play), consisting of two phones (one RMA'd) and the official bumper case.

Am I right thinking there's a bit of a wait between ordering and receiving one?

Can someone tell me what the total cost is for either 8 or 16gig delivered? I can only get as far as the Uk site but can't go through with buying until the weekend when I can install tunnelbear on my own pc (when I have internet again).

I wanted to practice first before trying it on my own. Thought I had an old crocked SIM lying around but it turns out that it is long gone. I didn't have the balls to go in without a practice run so I wussed out and visited the local 02 store :pac:

I am going to give it a shot with my old SIM now though, just for the sake of it!

It cost me €333 delivered with Flubit for the 16gb.

I really think that sticky should include a post about ordering with Flubit. It's about time for the information to be easily accessible. I'd write it up and if MiCrO would like to either sticky it or add it to his own sticky post or thread, that would be sweet. I'll write something up a bit later when I have some time, as I plan on being as detailed as possible by putting in every step of the process. I'll post it and hopefully MiCrO will either sticky it or copy it into his existing thread.

So hopefully we'll be able to direct people to a URL with all the needed information in great detail so there will be little doubt into the process.

But for now, jozi, I'll tell you briefly about the hottest method in town of getting the phone. You go to a site called http://www.flubit.com and you paste in the URL for the desired model you want - 8GB or 16GB. Then add an option for the size, just to be safe, where your chosen size/model is 8GB or 16GB. This will start the demand process in which Flubit will go directly to the manufacturer and get you a bespoke deal on the phone. You can expect a 4%-6% saving. They will get back to you within 48 hours, usually sooner than later. There is no obligation to purchase.

When they do and if you're willing to go ahead, then you can order it and a PayPal payment window will appear. You should now sign up with http://www.parcelmotel.com if you haven't already. You will be given two addresses to where you can send your parcels. You'll be needing the one in Northern Ireland. In Flubit's PayPal window, add the PM NI address including your PMID. Then make the payment and you'll have your order shipped within 2 weeks. 2 weeks?! It sucks but that's down to Google as they will ultimately ship the phone directly to you (Flubit never touches your order). Google are terribly inefficient and even if you managed to secure your order with Google (very hit and miss), you could be waiting just as long. We've all been though it.

There's so many benefits of going with Flubit and there's no downside. The benefits include that if the product is defective, they take care of the RMA with Google for you, so you never have to personally deal with Google's lousy customer service or have to explain that you're really in Ireland. I've been though that process too, and Flubit made sure I had my replacement in my hands no later than 6 days. Hell the replacement shipped on the date the RMA was created. If I had to do the RMA myself with Google I could still be in limbo now without a working Nexus 4 and missing €350 from my bank account.

This is merely a brief explanation about the process. As I said already, I hope to write something up in bullet points later explaining things like signing up to Parcel Motel, what a PMID is, instead of mentioning such terms without any background information. Hope it helps in the meantime!

Oh, and don't just take my word for it. Ask around (read through the last number of pages of this thread).

Anyone manage to find any good insurance deals for our Nexus'?

Just got a dispatch e-mail from flubit for my nexus 10 after ordering it last Thursday. Estimated delivery 7th-13th of May. Am I right in thinking this is a good bit quicker than for the nexus 4. Also is likely to arrive in that timespan?

If it really has dispatched already it should be with you this week and not next. The delivery process is quite quick once it leaves the warehouse.

Got the Flubit ordering process post written into a new thread. I should PM MiCrO to either copy or sticky it (and lock it, too!).

If anyone has any suggestions, whether I've left something out or I've added too much detail to something (I tend to do that) or if I haven't been detailed enough about something, please let me know.

I didn't get any either when I ordered. I just kept checking the parcel motel website until I saw that it had arrived.

Anyone have experience of buying these in the states and bringing them back?? I'm heading over for a week soon was thinking of picking one up, but the last thing I want to have happen is me coming home before the phone arrives!

I wouldn't bank on it arriving on time. Google are not quick at dispatching orders, especially the Nexus 4, because there is still a high demand for them in every region that they are sold.

Plus, there's no guarantee that they'd even fulfill the order unless you use an American credit/debit card that has the same billing address as the shipping address you intend to use. You could order it in advance, if you're shipping it to someone you know over there and if the order does go though and gets shipped, it could be waiting for you when you arrive, depending on how long in advance you order it before your trip. But, again, the billing address on your card(s) is a potential problem, as while sometimes orders get overlooked and are successful, a lot do get reviewed and canceled as a result of a non-match. Besides, you'd have to enter your card(s) in Google Wallet with the country set as the US before the Play Store even lets you go ahead and attempt the order, and of course, you'd need to use a US-based VPN in order for the Play Store to direct you to the American version of it.

If you look at the link in my sig, you'll be brought to a detailed post that I wrote up yesterday about ordering one from the UK.

    From the tracking information:
    DUB Transfer manifest arrived 30APR13/0000 TM=******,ARRIVED=30APR2013 00:00,DUBEDI
30APR13/1114 (RED)30/04/13-1 PIECE SHORT AS PER COLIN - 0 PIECES SCANNED
    01MAY13/1006 (RED)01/05/13 - 1 PIECE OVER AS PER COLIN - 1 PIECE SCANNED

I don't know what that means but it seems to be holding up my order.

I contacted Flubit this morning. They said they would make some calls and get back to me. I phoned a couple more times (hoping for an update) when I suspected they weren't going to call me. The person who could help with my query was busy both times.

I haven't heard anything back yet.

Cheers, from reading around the past few hours things have improved from googles end, but there are still some people left waiting for ages for delivery.. Its very hard to find any definite information. Spose its more sensible to get a friend to order it this week using a US account, so hopefully it'l be there before I arrive.

Yeah just read that post a few mins ago top marks DECEiFER!!
Might go down that route altogether esp with sterling being fairly weak.

I'm not sure, but it looks like from those status' above that they were short a piece and now they have it?

See what happens tomorrow. But in the meantime, as of maybe 11pm tonight, check on Parcel Force with the DIR number on the UTi tracker to see if it's been scanned at GLS before it makes its journey to Northern Ireland. If not tonight, maybe tomorrow night. All my orders didn't show up on Parcel Force until after 10-11pm on the night before they went to the North.

Whichever's less hassle for you. If you can get a friend in the US to use their card, then you could be okay. You might save a few bucks also depending on the state and county sales taxes. I know the 8GB version is $299 right now, which is a fantastic price and beats what we get, but that's before tax. Since you're going over and bringing it home personally, at least you wouldn't get hit by customs. It's a phone, even if they did search you, what would they say? It's not like you'd be bringing a suitcase full of them to flog off over here (or are you?!).

So go for the method that suits you best, but remember, if you're going to buy it from the US, use a friend's card over there alongside their address for shipping if you want to ensure the order goes through successfully. At least you have a UK fallback option if the US doesn't pan out.

"6am - Belfast Central Depot - Loaded to vehicle for delivery".

That sounds positive - at least it's moving. Parcel Motel hasn't indicated that they've received anything yet.
