Does she have a screen protector on it?

yep, that was one of the matters I thought of and I asked her to remove it. She did and gave the sensor a wipe etc... and still no joy unfortunately
Looks like a return and replacement will be required.:(

Ah no :( Sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed that the replacement process goes smoothly. They seem to be good about it!

Have you tried a factory reset? The screen does go off when you put it up to your face via the proximity censor but it also should come back on when you take it away from your face.

Exceptionally disappointed. My gf has her shiny new phone around a week now and when receiving or making calls either via normal phone or Skype etc she gets a black screen and can't hang up call etc. Other person has to hang up or she has turn off phone. She's sickened. Back to flubit it seems. Hopefully getting a replacement isn't going to be too much grief
It could be a fault. What's supposed to happen is the proximity sensor will knock the screen off during a call when it comes into contact with the face but the screen should come back on when moving away from the face, which you probably already know, but I thought I'd confirm the process with you all the same. The power button usually brings the display back to life when it goes to sleep. You said that it's not happening? It could very well be a fault.

So if the power button doesn't turn the screen back on, does the screen go back to normal when the other person hangs up?

I've been playing around with it for a few hours and loving it so far. Its so bloody smooth and fast. It's also a gorgeous phone aesthetically.

I'd like to thank DECEiFER for answering my every question and just about everybody else's question too and being an absolute gent about it. Legend. (I'll probably have a ton more questions post tinkering!
No problem at all and I'll be around to answer any questions or maybe ask a few more of my own! Glad you're enjoying it. Have you any tinkering plans for it yet?

screen protector removed, bumper removed and now in the process of a complete factory reset. hopefully that will solve the problem. I have email flubit just in case.

Will let you know when the reset finishes and some testing done.
    fingers crossed

    Thanks all.

I'm just getting a feel for it for a moment and will continue with that for the foreseeable future. After that, I'll have a look at rooting!

If it does come down to you having to get it replaced, you'll be dealing with a lady called Dilek at Fireworks and she's absolutely brilliant at getting things sorted for you. You'll be in good hands and you won't need to worry about Google cancelling your replacement order, etc. If you officially start RMA proceedings, be sure to send on the IMEI number ASAP along with all the other information as she'll need that to get the ball rolling.

Let us know how you get on, hopefully your measures will sort the problem so it won't need replacing.

Use this to reflash a stock image. Only takes a few mins. Much less hassle than sending it back. You need to donate £3 mind ;-(

So complete reset done, phone now screen protector and bumper free and screen fully cleaned with micro fiber cloth and lcd cleaning spray.

5 test calls made. No re occurrence of the problem so far... :D:)
Factory reset seems to have done the job. hopefully it's not just a temporary fix. Will monitor for the next few days to see.

Thanks for all the suggestions. My GF is a much happier bunny now and my headache is residing :P :pac:

If it's necessary to reflash the stock image, he need not donate £3 because there's another toolkit out there (the one I used) and it'll do it for free! Anyways, a simple factory reset might be all that's needed so that's the thing to try first before jumping ahead to flashery.

EDIT: Nice one! That must be a relief for you, too. I'd say she wasn't too pleased at the prospect of waiting for a new one to arrive and you'd have probably heard all about it! :P

    On the subject of flashery...

    Must resist urge.

I'm fighting myself here! But anyone interested in flashing a custom ROM, Elitemovil is very good. He had an I9000 until recently and I have been using his ROMs since last year. His ROM is unrivaled for speed and smoothness on the aging I9000. CyanogenMod and others that use CyanogenMod as their base just cannot compete in terms of performance, the difference on a phone like the I9000 is very apparent. Elitemovil always ported Nexus ROMs over to the I9000, which is why his are different to the rest, and now that he owns a Nexus 4, his ROM releases for it will be based on the stock one with the aim of improving it.

So that's it. As far as custom ROMs go, this guy does great work. Don't be put off by the Spanish website. Use your browser to translate it and you'll be fine. And of course the ROM will default to English, so no worries there either. :)

Jaysus, I haven't used a MoDaCo Custom ROM since my ZTE Blade. Had a subscription there and used it to bake one in the "Online Kitchen." Looks like he uses the stock ROM as a base also so it's definitely worth checking out!

The Google pricks have cancelled my replacement order again.
Any ideas what to do next?
I told them I wanted a full refund as they havnt supplied a replacement for my faulty phone.
I was told not entitled to refund as I have the phone more than 15 days.
I'm gonna ring play support again .

Got the sim today. I switched to 3. It's crazy how much better their deal is. All you can eat data ftw.

Only problem is that 3's coverage isn't the greatest. Constantly losing connection and having to roam seems to hit battery life too. Small inconvenience for having unlimited data and HSPA+ though.

Got my nexus from Flubit last night via parcel motel. I am a happy happy man.

iggy simply don't back down. They obviously have to give you a full refund as the phone is faulty or at the very least a replacement! Just state your case and don't take no for an answer.

Keno, I am on the three payg and its great. When you are near the end of the month, buy the Internet add on for 5 euro and you can use Skype to call, whatsapp to text and cabbage too and whatever credit you have left you can use on calls.

Edit - got the tracking number from flubit this morning.

Got a great offer from Flubit ! Followed all the procedure listed but now it says in Paypal the credit card is not valid !!! Damm it. I am suspecting it cause of the address where I cannot change the country to UK in Paypal (It stays as Ireland) Any ideas ??

Edit: Do I have to make the address from PM the "Home" Address in Paypal ?

No rom you don't. Just change your delivery address. Billing address doesn't matter on flubit.

Added the PM address to PAYPAL but cant change the country to Ireland. So when logging into the Paypal UI in Flubit payment, added the PM address in full as UK and tried to ship to that. Still does not work. Keeps saying credit card not valid !

Do you have your credit card validated and all that and the limit ok on it? I had a problem where I had to call my bank and let them know what I was up to.

You shouldn't really have to try and change anything in Paypal at all. When you go through flubit it will ask you to log into paypal and then it will ask you your delivery address.

Would you mind telling me how long it took flubit to get back to you with an offer and how long the offer is valid for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,953 ✭✭✭Raoul

It varies on the demand. Usually within a day and valid for 48 hours.

It took them about a day to get back ! Once they offer , its valid for 48 hours !

I got the transaction through finally, it was the bank holding the card back.
Future Flubit users make sure u call ur bank to clear it that its a UK transaction u are making !

Hope it does not take too long !

I've read over all your posts and it's terrible them putting you through it, but hopefully that last email will amount to something. Did you have the phone for more than 15 days before it broke down and you began your RMA request? If not, then you may be able to argue that the RMA was started less than 15 days in and get them to just give you that refund you want so you can go with Flubit.

As long as your coverage is good in Waterford you'll love being on Three. It's a smashing offer for people who can fully avail of it. In Limerick it's great but it's not so great in my hometown, which not too far away from the city.

If you add the address via the payment page when you're buying something, it seems to work fine. It doesn't seem to work when you merely log in and try it using the standard method, for whatever reason. Glad you got your address sorted on the Flubit payment area and that it was your bank that was restricting you from there.

I sent a support email from my order page on flubit, asking for an update on my order. Got this automated email,

"You have submitted a support request. The below support request has been forwarded to the supplier responsible for your order. The supplier will get in touch with you as soon as possible. "

That mean they don't even look at my message and just automatically forward it to google?! I won't be holding my breath on a reply from them.

That the message everyone else got when contacting flubit?
