    Somalia: Port city of Kismayo

    Copehill2013.jpg

    3rd August 2012
Kismayo is a key asset for the Somalian pirate gangs, allowing supplies to reach areas under their control and providing a lawless heaven for their operations, and it is believed that Kismayo harbours the main banking operation channelling ransom money to the Al-Shabaab terrorist organisation, the loss of this facility will de-stabilise the pirate operations on the gulf of Somalia undermine support for Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

    5th August 2012
Amisom troops begin combat operations to bring Kismayo under control of the Somali government, this has been met by brutal opposition and the realisation of a government controlled Kismayo looks bleak

    10th August 2012
In the course of their combat operations, Amisom have, however, located several alarming pieces of intelligence that hint towards a large scale Al-Shabaab planned attack on the West. Despite their best efforts they have not been able to gather any further solid intelligence relating to the method or timings of the planned attack.
In light of the worsening tactical position of the Amisom forces
and the possibility of a terror attack on a scale not seen since 9/11, the International Community is now paying much closer scrutiny to the region.

    15th August 2012
An urgently devised Classified U.N mandate is passed to provide JSOC assistance to the Amisom forces, Combat Troops from the U.S and U.K have been put on stand by to be despatched to the region with the operational goal of bringing the Southern port city of Kismayo under the control of Amisom and the Somali Government.
The operation will be a “Black OP” spearheaded by U.K Special Boat Service Troopers and U.S Navy Seals, with the aim of sweeping through the city to locate and secure any intelligence relating to the planned terror attack and, if possible to capture (Dead or Alive) the Al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane. This will coincide with a with an assault conducted by Amisom troops, whose aim is to destroy Al-Shabaab’s operational capability at ground level by targeting the Somali pirate gangs, Al-Shabaab fighters and their assets.

    6th September 2012
OP: OCEAN FURY is given the green light……………

There are no replica restictions between teams. The description for camo is 'NO MULTICAM,MTP OR BLACK, BASE CLOTHING' so black vest/holsters/pouchs would be ok, restrictions only apply to base clothing so BDUs/Jakets etc etc

A reminder for anyone going to this event: we're currently getting snow up in Yorkshire, and I imagine that Salisbury plain isn't much better right now. Weather forecast for next weekend is between 5-8C at the highest, with -1C low and an estimated "feels like" high temperature of around 2/3C and a low temperature of somewhere around -8C to -11C.

In short, it's going to be baltic.

Personally, I'm not too keen on seeing anybody's finger stumps, and I'm pretty sure that you don't want to see your fingers turn into blackened stumps either, so bring plenty of layers to stay warm both on and off the field, along with the ability to brew up warm drinks/food when needed.

    Edit: accuweather forecast

Just a reminder to everyone to get HMRC letters of invitation to cover bringing airsoft RIFs into the UK for the event.

It's really important that you have this covered, otherwise you could find yourself either waving goodbye to RIFs if unlucky, or long delays at the ferry ports on account of much phone calling, etc. Anyone travelling by air will simply not have their RIFs handed to them in baggage collection without proof of exemption from the VCRA*, which said letter will show.

So get in contact with the organisers with a list of everyone travelling in your party and by what method you are travelling. If multiple vehicles per group I would recommend at least one letter per vehicle.

And/or a printout of your eTicket (email confirmation of booking and payment) for the event.

All the Customs people need is something on paper that says you're attending a particular event at a particular time and place. If you have that, you're sorted.

If not, well, your whole weekend could be spoiled.
