New order has been received already. Finally a bit of movement! Pity it took me a week and a half to re-order. Would have had it ages ago.

    Stupid Google!
Watch out though, your initial order will probably process in the next week or so as well

Yea thanks, I canceled the other one once the second one was received. Worst case I can sell it on here I'm sure.

You'll get rid on Adverts no bother, some lads are buying up Nexus 4 just to sell on on Adverts to make a few quid - fecking shylocks, even some phone shops seem to be at it....

I luckily got mine yesterday from Adverts, 16GB for 350, proper seller who had the phone a day and decided he wanted a Nokia 920, it was probably the best price I had seen on there to be fair as I have been scouring the last 2 weeks....

Best phone I have ever owned... (already!)

As a newbie I can't thank folk for this thread.

However it was a great help to me - ordered my Nexus on Tuesday and it's in Parcel Motel in Belfast at the moment.

    Thanks folks.

Mine just got shipped. For those interested here's what I did:
Fresh UK Google account (verified with Irish mobile) with my real name etc. Google Wallet with MasterCard (tried previously with AIB Visa Debit and it got stuck on pre-order). Billing address country was UK except the whole address was my normal Irish one just with the PM UK postcode. Delivery address was PM. Billing and shipping phone numbers were Amazon UK Support Centre :pac: All done using TunnelBear in Incognito Mode.

7 days on and still no movement. Stuck on preorder and no sign of newer order being shipped either. So fed up with this system. Can anyone who used a visa debit card from bank of Ireland state how they got on with it and how long it took to process

Cheers graham. Let me know if your order progress' any. My 2 are still stuck at preorder and no help from google support on phone or email. The authorisation hold on the funds in my account has been lifted but boi says that's normal after 5 days. So what begs the question is if I ordered it, have the funds, bank says there is no issue then why won't google send the phone

Loving my new Nexus 4 phone!!!

    smoothest thing I've ever seen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,535 ✭✭✭Zonda999

    Well I finally picked up my Nexus 4 this lunchtime. So the process was;

19th February:Ordered using my new AIB visa debit card (See here, for what i did)

16th February: Still pending so emailed Support. Gave an estimated dispatch date of the 28th

28th February: Still no progrss so emailed again. Was emailed back saying a "specialist" was being assigned to look at my order

4th March: emailed again (rant in email). Said a specialist was again being assigned, Was told my order should process in the next 48 hours

6th March: Order finally processed and shipped by 17:00 that day

8th March: Order delivered to Parcel Motel in Belfast at about lunchtime

9th March (today): Got a text from PM saying it had arrived in Cork. Have to say, great service from Parcel Motel. Was my first time using the service and in fairness it was super quick and efficient

The phone is class, definitely worth the long wait. Smoothest android I've ever used and isn't as big as you might imagine, although, you wouldn't want any bigger a phone IMHO. Compared to my old Galaxy S2, the interface is just so much clearer, the speed of the thing really has to be witnessed

It looks gorgeous too, one of the nicest phones I've ever seen, and definitely the nicest looking I've ever owned.

The only thing I'm not mad about its the screen, not the resolution, mind more the fact its IPS LCD, rather than AMOLED. My last two phones had AMOLED screens (S1 and S2) and I still love the general vibrancy and colours. The screen isn't dull by any means but its not as "in your face" as an AMOLED. Anyway, for an IPS screen, its very good. I knew well It was IPS before I ordered anyway so knew what to expect. The display tech is the same as the iphones and the screen is definitely as nice as that in the iphone 5. Bear in mind the Xperia Z also has a LCD screen, as apposed to AMOLED.

All in all though, absolutely delighted with it. Haven;t even been able to use it as a phone yet seeing as I had to pop into a meteor store to get a micro sim and I guess it'll be Monday tilll I'm able to activate that

Went ahead and order a bumper and screen protectors. That bumper looks pretty cool and will definitely add peace of mind. I really wouldn't like to drop it and shatter that glass back

To anyone considering buying this, in the eight hours I've had it, I can only say go right ahead. This phone is well over €200 less than the iphone 5 and Xperia Z and €100 less than the S3. This can easily stand up to any of those devices IMO, and trounce the iphone 5 obviously :-P

    Glad you're enjoying it Z!

I'm just waiting on my replacement N4 to ship.
The one I got, refused to charge, so after the charge from the factory, it died, never to be seen again!

I had the pleasure of 8 hours with the N4 too, before it died, but I can't wait to get a fully working one to show off to everyone with an iPod Phone :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭davidom2513

The 8gb version comes to €274 before shipping, so how much did it cost people for delivery altogether using parcel motel?

How much did it cost in total for the nexus delivered?

It was unlucky after your wait that you got a dud in fairness. Hope your new on is all good!

Mine came to €338 delivered for the 16Gb. Parcel Motel should be €3.50 but its free for your first too goes. Its possibly less now, the exchange rate is better than it was when I ordered

Looks like parcel motel have just recently introduced a location beside my house in galway :)

Whats the best cover to get for the Nexus 4??

Ordered 3 cheap ones off amazon. They are all pretty much the same. Not great. The last one being the worst as were the bottom and top is joined its uncomfortable because its badly joined. The prices on ebay are stupid so wont be buying there.

If you check the xda nexus 4 forum there's an accessories section with links and reviews to loads of cases and car mounts and pretty much everything else.

Just looking at getting a N4. Perhaps a stupid question but is there a particular reason to do the Parcel Motel (ie setting your c/c to have the PM Northern Ireland address as one of the billing addresses; ordering through a proxy) rather than buying an N4 off eBay?

I got stuck on pre-order for a few days with an AIB visa debit. Cancelled it and tried again with a BOI Mastercard (credit card) and it got accepted after a few hours

    Price and warranty.
I was going to look at ebay/adverts for one but it was working out at least €50 on the price you can get it from google. I bought 2 8Gb, one for myself 2 weeks ago at €289 and one for my brother Monday for €292 inc delivery. Cheapest I've seen on one for on adverts/ebay is €340.
Then in terms of returns, if something goes wrong in a couple of months you can deal google instead of hoping the seller is nice enough to help you out.

I got mine yesterday, lovely phone, an absolute flyer. Lighter and thinner than my old Desire HD.

Ordered March 5th, picked up at Parcel Motel location March 9th, 4 days from start to finish. I created a new Google UK account and left my main account alone. Used my Visa CC, home address, just used the Parcel Motel postcode in the last line of my address.

Now must go and trim my sim card.....
