Resettling after a mistaken payout?

Before I go any further, I will say that this was me taking advantage of a screw up on the site, so I fully understand why they resettled, but I was just wondering have I anything worth complaining to Live Chat about to get the money back (I am guessing no)?

Basically, there was some Aus Horse Racing on last night, Paddy Power left up the market for one of the Races HOURS after it was done. I saw the market open on PP, and decided to chance my arm as I knew who had won and placed.

I fully expected to have my bets refunded - like usual with their screw ups. However, this time they paid out. I was surprised, but happy to take the money - like anyone would (I have no shame). However, before I could really do anything with the money it was promptly taken out of my account again.

If the bet was placed in a shop, this would be akin to me walking out the door with the money, then having the bookie come out the door and take it off me again. Now, I fully understand their reasoning behind this, but does the fact the money was credited to me, then taken away give me any valid reason to place a complaint?

Should I just move on, and not expect a €750 gift from Paddy? :pac:

So there was an error on PP which let you bet hours after the result, you put a few quid on, for the craic, and won, then were surprised when they paid out.

Now they realised the mistake and took the winnings off your balance, and you want the winnings for the bet back??

Hmmmmm, 2 hopes with that one, the first one's Bob and the second one's No

i was 99% sure of this before I posted, I was just wondering was there some small legal reasoning loophole that I could bring up to challenge them

I have had loads of refunds from bookies before, and I understand the legality behind them, but never a resettlement before, so 1% of me though there might be something more to this.

People need to realise that gambling payouts, settlements, (everything basically) are not enforceable by any laws. Bookies can do whatever they want...they can pay you, they can take money back etc... They are governed by their own reputation, and that's it.

You did what anyone else would have done, except you were too slow with the withdrawal.

If I were you though i'd be slightly worried that you were watching australian racing ;)

you should have withdrawn it at 11.09:D

but they still probably would have had time to call it back.

you answered your own question in the first instance.

A bird in the hand is worth two stuck in internet space. no come back for trying to be a chancer.

If the OP had of transfared his money in sportsbook account into his PP poker account and then withdrawing would they have been able to stop the withdrawl l wonder?

Its something l've been wondering for a while if it would work as PP are constantly fooking up it could be an option.

I'd say it would make it more difficult to stop the bank transfare.

Surely a Bank Transfer couldn't take place on a Saturday?

on this. A few months back I had a bet on American football, I'm pretty sure it was a Ravens game but not 100% anyway long story short the Ravens lost but PP paid out on the game, I had them included in a 6 teamer and it returned a nice few €'s. I hadnt really noticed and placed almost the entire amount on the late game on Sunday night. Now it just so happens that game won and when PP resettled the next day they just took the winnings from the Ravens game off me. Technically speaking they could have voided both bets and tooke everything but they didnt so I was happy out. Also after complaining about them taking the money back(their error in paying it in the first place) I received a €50 free bet on the next weeks American football.

Long story short. Complain. They may give you something for nothing.

I benefited from a mistaken payout and withdrew the winnings over the weekend, the bookie has since realised the error and left a message on my account this evening saying to contact them to organise repayment.

Of course I definitely intend on paying this back being the good catholic that I am ;), but hypothetically if I was not to organise repayment with them and never log into the account again they probably have it within their powers to get this money from me some other way?
