I love how people get all mad and " we should do something about it" blah blah blah

This country voted Fine Gael and Labour. Thats the REAL problem with this society, not that they are lazy. It is that they are ****ing stupid. You get the leaders you deserve, and people bought into the absolute fairytale that was FG and Labour, who neither had an ounce of a plan between them before they came into Government.

So yeah, I am lazy, I'm just going to chill out and have a little chuckle and the boyos tearing the country apart, confident I'd no part in its doing. Why should I clean up everyone elses mess? :)

Holy crap I actually agree 100% with Doc

The same people who complain about how f****d the country is, are usually the same people who either chose a path to take which was wrong or they were too lazy to choose one and than a choice was made for them. Most of my mates are on the dole... (nothing wrong with that) Yet they b***h and moan about how crap things are here. Do they take part in kick-ass sports like airsoft? no Do they try to volunteer, get a job or do something productive/economical? no They get money in hand every week and most of them don't have kids, bills, nothing to pay for.

Bare in mind I'm 20, most of my mates are around 19 - 21.

God love them, but while the world is supposedly coming to an end or a stop, people don't pause to think how they got where they are. I don't come from a well-off background. As such, I was "given" things like my education for free. Is that fair? a person who before college, never paid taxes? probably not. Is it fair though that a very large percentage of emigration was down to people who didn't have it easy over here?

Unfortunate enough to say, my generation was spoon fed during the boom and now if something isn't handed to us or we aren't better off than everyone else we sit like bold children having tantrums. Someone like me given a voice, an opportunity, I damn well take it and yet I am surrounded by people who want magic wand fixes instead of getting off their arses... We have it a hell of a lot easier than some other countries and while there are some suffering there are also those selfish ones who get everything they can for nothing... I have given back when I can and know many of us who have but I can't stand when I hear or see of people my age and older who if they aren't handed stuff they sit and do nothing...

/rant. Does anyone else feel that while the country isn't in great shape politically we aren't that different from most of our neighbors?

It's all just more propaganda for the Gun-rights/control debate in the US.

That reference on their site to more people are killed by hammers is something often quoted, even though it is incorrect.

    Stupid question, excellent response!

For those that don't know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an Australian.
General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently.
Read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you have to love this! This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. In a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

    GENERAL COSGROVE:!
We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL COSGROVE:I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL COSGROVE:I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL COSGROVE:Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?
The radiocast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, this interview was over.

Hi ledies and gents. I hope its not against forums rules to ask for help. If this is a wrong thread, mods please move to proper one.
Anyway most of you have heard about team "KOSA", some of you even played with them. Their leader, Igor Dolgov, or Oficer as you may know him, needs an urgent surgery and his family needs help collecting the money. Would you please go to http://www.facebook.com/HelpIgorDolgov for info as im typing this from the phone and cant provide more links at the moment. Its not that much, only 5000 euro but includes flight to Moscow, surgery in military hospital and rehabilitation.
    Thanks
