However, the above article fails to mention that people were given free ipads, iphones and MP3 players to attend.
Maybe you could show one that does mention it?

I am all for freedom of speech! Who knows what will happen if we stop people expressing their views just because you don't agree with them.

On the issue of abortion I'm pro-choice. It's not fair to bring an unwanted child into the world. However just because abortion might become legal doesn't mean that mothers will be forced to have abortions. If a mother is against abortion, then she doesn't have to have one, just don't force your beliefs on other people!

I am against the governments decision to legislate for abortion where suicide is a possibility. What proof is there that abortion is a cure for suicide?
I can see many women seeking abortions who will now have to pretend that they are suicidal even though they're not. This could be very traumatic for the mother.

Is there any test to say that someone is suicidal?
If so, and a girl is denied her abortion as she isn't "suicidal" and then commits suicide, will the state/hse be liable for her death, opening up the possibility of legal action?

Oh and how many of the pro life protestors have used contraception?
because your belittling mental health issues, if its 300 or 3 commits suicide its too much and in this country we don't have a clue when it comes to suicide, we just sweep it under the carpet, I had far too many friends who I've grown up with take that route and I think its just shows how Ireland is
Plus if your pro choice you believe in choice what you have committed contradicts itself

This is the most baffling thing about it. Bringing in a Pro Choice law for abortion would in no way change anything about the way Pro Life people go about their day to day lives. They'd still be against abortion, and that's absolutely fine, because nobody would force or encourage them to have them - that's where the CHOICE bit comes in. It's always really confused me how they don't get that.

Allowing other people to do things that your religion doesn't allow doesn't have any affect on those who follow that religion. None at all.

I think we should bring in gun laws to allow everyone to bare firearms easily like hand guns and machine guns from the age of 18, also new laws which allow me to shoot anyone I think might be a danger to me on my property.

But people are against this on a moral ground they say its not the right thing to do. People say they could get shot on the street but I say you can get beaten to dead on the street, people have the tools to beat people to death just like having a gun to shoot someone, so what difference would it make. People don't just shoot someone because they have a gun, like they don't just beat someone to death because they have a Hurley.

It's my right as an 18 year old man to carry a machine gun with me if I CHOOSE. Nobody has the right to tell me otherwise especially not on moral ground

Both weapons for someone with no morals.

So what's the problem with the gun laws?

I'm glad you get it now!

    Better luck next time ;)

Nope - I'm not pro death or pro killing

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

The longer term need to provide for abortion to be carried out legally in Ireland on grounds wider than risk to life or risk to health, in accordance with a truly pro-choice policy

    What does that say dvpower?

That says nothing about limitless abortion on demand as you asserted.

So, again, can you provide the evidence that there are people in Government that want limitless abortion on demand?

I'm fully pro choice. I believe that individuals should have the choice to do what they want.
The reason why I'm against stopping at the suicide issue is due to the fact that I can see a lot of women, who want an abortion in Ireland having to claim that they are suicidal which is an awful position to put any woman in. I don't think this is a fair position to put anyone under.
For those who may genuinely be at risk of suicide how do you prove that they are? And what happens if the person making the decision gets it wrong, denies her an abortion and she commits suicide?

Do you not think most women won't be arsed going around to meet doctors and committees and find it easier to just go to England? Which is the usual Irish solution for social issues we can't deal with, to our shame.

I haven't the first idea who the people in Government are that you are referring to, so I really couldn't say.

    But back to my question.
Let me remind you of what you think:

I can still see some women wanting an abortion who dont want to travel and going down the suicide route.
There will be a majority who will still go to England.
However the real question is should they have too? Backward ireland says yes and sweep it under the carpet!:(

At 8 months and 3 weeks it can survive outside the mother's body independently though. That's the key differentiation IMO

I believe, in the UK at least, that the later term abortions and the age at which a premature born baby can be saved have now overlapped.
The goal posts shift constantly making that differentiation difficult.

People can have all sorts of procedures carried out abroad that can not legally be carried out here.

It's easy to say that individuals and individuals alone should be the ones to decide, but in reality they're not the only ones that should decide. Shouldn't doctors and other medical professionals / ethicists also have a say in what the written law requires of them... and that's without even going into the 'rights' of others connected to the pregnancy.

Being pro-choice needn't mean being pro-stupidity.. if no limits apply then more problems would be created.

I can understand the moral cowardice shown by politicians when fudging on this issue, it really is a damned if you do damned if you dont, but dammit its their job to find some compromise( excluding minature american flags). To the lady who had a difficult pregnancy, no amount of my sympathy adequetly makes up for the pain you felt.
And anyone who cant understand why, when I look at my son's ultrasound pictures at weeks 9 and 16, and wonder why I dont class them as clumps of cells, but rather my precious son, I cant help you.
Whats the chances of finding a middle ground?

    .

You won't give me a number then. How about an approximation. A best guess? To the nearest thousand?

There is no limit. Thats the actual reality.

Nobody. Absolutely nobody advocates for limitless abortion.

It's the chopping up of them that's the issue? What about inducing labour instead of chopping them up instead? Is it the procedure that's the main bug bear here? I agree, chopping them into little pieces is gruesome

My wife was induced . We now have a 10 year old healthy boy. It was not pleasant but it was over in a few hours and safely . Nether child or mother worse for ware.
My main bugbear is that you can sit there typing on how you think that human babies can be more or less sentenced to death with no chance because the mother does not want to go through child birth. When you.
YOU. Have the full protection of the law and society .
The Pro choice group would like to remove any rights for those who cant stand up for themselves. Nasty people in any context.
I was not at this rally but at others. Im not having it.
You or anyone like you could have been that baby. Simple as that. But on a mothers whim you could have been surgical killed. Feck that i say.
