One of those fake "agents" on Twitter put that one out it seems. This happens every transfer window, don't know how some people actually still give these guys any attention.

Celtic confirm the signing of 20 year old Australian international Tomas Rogic. The midfielder has signed a 4.5 year deal and it seems we paid Central Coast Mariners about 450,000 to get him.Welcome to Celtic Tomas that is assuming he gets a work permit.

already seen some websites where tickets for the Juventus game are popping up at 3 or 4 times the price. Shame.

Hopefully will be another success for John Park and the scouting system at Celtic. A couple of EPL clubs - Reading in particular - were interested in this guy. Looking forward to seeing how he progresses at Celtic, appears to have plenty of ability from clips of him playing online.

Sad news today that Sean Fallon has died, had the pleasure of chatting with him before and he seemed an absolute gentleman.

    RIP

The man who left his wife in the car waiting for an anniversary dinner to sign Kenny Dalglish :)
By all accounts he seemed to be a nice man.

    RIP.

It wasn't meant like that, just an anecdote to show what kind of a man he was with regards to the club :)

He will also be remembered among bears of a certain age for the help he gave in the aftermath of the Ibrox disaster. He was a true gentleman

    Norwich bid for Hooper rejected

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Lennonist

5 million was the bid, derisory offer. No way Celtic will part with Hooper in January with the Juve tie coming for a paltry figure of 5 million, they'd get at least that in the summer why would they sell for something like that right now. Celtic are in negotiations to extend his contract.

Paltry? He's worth 6-7 tops. The only player in your squad who could command a larger fee is Wanyama.

I can see this going through before the window, he's worth 6-7 tops but Lawell is exactly the guy who can squeeze a bit extra.

That's just like your opinion man. I regard a bid of 5 million as paltry, particularly right now in the January window. BTW Celtic don't need to sell, they can sell him in the summer if he doesn't sign an extension for that kind of money.

What players are worth that kind of money at your club right now, tops?

I'm aware Celtic dont have to sell, but teams in Scotland aren't in positions to hold out for huge money, and i include Celtic in that because of the stature of Scottish football, not because they need the money. Players aren't committing to spend their careers in Scotland, and a bit of pressure here from Hooper(more likely his agent) could see a deal done. Yeah he has Champions League, but playing in England and scoring will be much more noticeable to the national team and potentially a bigger move.

Its like Jelavic, like Hooper now, playing in Scotland he was worth half of what he would fetch in England, its a fact as much as we dont like it.

I dont see what relevance you have bringing up Rangers players now btw, silly point to make.

It would be bad business to let Hooper go for anything less that 7/8million now.

He's young, a potential England International, and one of the best finishers around. Still needs work on his overall game but I think he could do well for a premiership team.

Celtic don't have to sell him in January, it will take a lot more than 5 million to part with him in January. It would be silly to sell him for a paltry figure like 5 mill in January when if they have to sell him in the summer they will get at least that for him, maybe more depending how Celtic and he does in the rest of the CL campaign. Also I'd imagine that other EPL clubs - bigger than Norwich - might start to show an interest and drive the fee up.

Besides I wont take very seriously the valuation of a Rangers fan of a Celtic player, if you don't mind.

Why not do you think Rangers fans are incapable of putting valuations on players without the side show of the fact it's a tic player. Very closed mind there

If Norwich offer a bit more he'll be gone before the window shuts in my opinion.

Yeah okay, because your own valuation wouldnt be anyway inflated

Its nothing to do with who I support, its a fact because of where Scottish football is unfortunately. Thats the problem with this forum these days, impossible to have a discussion without opinions being dismissed based on a team, its like reading United/Liverpool threads with all the EPL egos in there.

I could say he is worth 12 million. What would be the point if I don't think he is

I just said he's worth upto 7, there's not a hope you'll get more than that if you look at it sensibly.

But you carry on rolling your eyes and i'll wait until fans that can have a debate post on the matter.
