When was the last time there wasn't a joint sponsorship deal with the other lot? Does this mean they will boycott Magners?

Havin a Bulmers/Magners now, always had great time for it. These days I drink Bulmers Light - less sugar content, healthier option. The factory down in Clonmell looks like a rake of huge cans of Bulmers Light.

Anyone that boycotts something because the other lot are sponsored by them is a dick IMO. I like a nice cold glass of Bulmers on a summers afternoon ;)

Well, always a good time to promote Strongbow I reckon ;)

I remember it. Traveling over on the boat from Larne to Cairnryan, McEwans was the cheaper option, didn't stop us partaking of it.:pac:

Equally anyone who buys something because they sponsor their team is a dick IMO!

Tennents is and always was pish. Who honestly bought more of it since they sponsored us?

Always thought the effect of shirt sponsorship was overstated really. How many Utd fans took out insurance with AIG? Still I guess it must have benefits or they wouldn't bother.

Sponsorship to enhance sales? No thanks, I never went for that, and I never will. Even is the next sponsor would be Jaegermeister ;)

Seriously, it's funny, how many alcohol selling companies put their names on football jerseys. Do they think, us football fans are potential drinkers?

    In a word, yes!

    For alcoholic beverages it's easier.

Celtic are in the last 16, Magners desperately needs to catch up with Strongbow etc.
What better than the world's most prestigious club tournament for maximum exposure to a group of people that are prone to have a little drink now and then ? ;)

I don't know a single person who drinks, who does not know what Magners is.

And catching up with Strongbow.. really? That muck costs about half as much as Magners yet I barely see anyone drink it.

They've started doing this promotional drink, can't remember the name.. Golden Orchard or something. When I was over in London the odd pub would tell me they had Magners on top so I'd say ya grand. Stuff is absolute muck, basically tastes the same as Strongbow but costs the same as Magners!

On a market scale (I agree that Strongbow is bad), Strongbow is the best selling cider in the world.

And of course a lot of people you know are familiar with Magners, which is why I mentioned the CL.
Believe it or not, mainland Europeans don't know a lot about cider (apart from maybe Spain and Portugal).

Didn't realise it was even sold on the continent. Can't remember ever seeing it other than in Irish bars.

I'd say the French would be disgusted by it!

Magners have been slow to expand beyond Ireland but I do think its a far better tasting drink than H.P. Bulmers or Strongbow. Stella Artois's Cidre will be the one to challenge Magners current global expansion plans, its a very nice cider in its own right.

They've got the marketing spot on anyway. Everyone used to think cider was a scummy drink until Magners made some hipster adverts of posh people pouring it over ice and suddenly every yuppie around is forking out 4.50 for a pint of it.

Weird how people think you "have" to have ice in it as well. Gway outta dat I wouldn't have ice in a beer.

Is it not more viable to sponsor a shirt as opposed to payin out a ****load on tax? Like does advertising have any tax benefits?

Outdoors on a hot summers day, definitely want ice imo and I tend to get ice regardless out of habit more than anything. Im not some fúcking yuppie or hipster before you start! :D

Yes, of course they do. If advertising such as this didn't work for companies then they wouldn't do it.

Yep, pint glass of ice and a bottle of Bulmers, lovely in the summer (or any time of year for that matter). My main tipple these days. I can't lash it back like I used to with Guinness when I was a young lad, so the ice keeps it cool for me!

Lol at some of the advertising comments above though. "How many Utd fans buy AIG insurance?" Come on, seriously? :D

Can someone clarify this for me?

Celtic were due to play Dundee utd on the 16th of February! Has this been changed because I can't find it in the fixture list in the iPhone app but when I go in to purchase tickets the fixture is still there?!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Check the Celtic website, there is a statement about rescheduled fixtures

When I check the statement it doesn't give the date of the original fixture it just says the "home game vs Dundee utd which was already postponed twice"

Tickets are on sale for the 22/1/13 and 16/2/13 but there is not fixture on the list

If you check the fixture list on the website, you see the fixture. If in doubt always use the website, not the app. Clearly ,its a case of the app not working properly so maybe you need to contact Celtic and complain that something you paid for isnt working properly.

Thought it was a nod to the fact that he's not being involved in the reconstruction talks and the comments made yesterday?
