7 clear now with a game still in hand. Cruising at the moment, fifth win in a row.

Thought it could have been easier tbh, Dundee came right back into the game for around 10 mins at the start of the 2nd half, and an equaliser might have changed the rest of the game. Forster brilliant again tonight.

Another goal from the player people were writing off 2 years ago. Looks like Sammy is having another great season.

    Hooper's celebration, lol!

Wilson should get punished imo, looked a clear elbow to me, poor form.

Let's get through the transfer window now, that's the biggest challenge for January!

And to top it off, my mother gave me the Champions Collection DVD box set.... loads of Larsson, Hartson, Tommy Burns and piles of goals to watch, happy days!

Cant say Samaras didnt deserve the flak he was getting though but fair play to Lennon & his coaches, they've gotten him playing consistently well.

Benedictus got his ear reddened for whatever he was saying to Hooper! I'd expect him to get called up to the next England squad, his allround game has become consistently top notch. After Rooney & Defoe, all they have is corner flag chasers.

I have to disagree about the elbow incident, i dont think there was any intent to clock Baird. If you impede lads like that you will end up getting hit with an arm sooner rather than later because any player worth their salt at all is going to try and get loose of an impeding player. Lunny will probably call him up for a hearing, I'd expect Celtic to challenge it strongly though.

Agreed. He was legitimately crap for ages (bar the period right after joining). I still think what makes him a handful is the fact defenders don't know if he's going to fall over or leave them for dusht.

He already was called up but was injured. Their next game is in Feb (against Brazil lol). Mind you it's San Marino after that, Hoops could bag a hattrick!

To his credit, Baird has said the same. Strachan also echoed my point after the match when he pointed out that if the players were the same height it wouldn't have even been an incident as it's just an elbow in the chest which happens in most tangles like that. Unfortunately for Baird he's almost a foot shorter.
Lunny will probably call him up for a hearing, I'd expect Celtic to challenge it strongly though.
Would it surprise anyone if he was banned? Celtic might not even challenge it since in the long run we can cope with the suspension, and the club/Lenny have been rather quiet about the shocking decisions that have gone against us this season. Players like McCulloch, Bougherra and Weir made a career in Scotland out of elbowing people. Let's hope the same standards are applied :)

Unsurprisingly the Scottish media have chosen to run with a completely opposite angle, disregarding what the player himself has said

Lads how would I find out how that Irish lad is getting on who won Football's Next Star? What academy team would he be in now?

He's been getting decent reports as far as I know.

I know that but being called up for a meaningless friendly, basically for a first hand assessment, is different to being called up for competitive matches even if its a mismatch. Hodgson is more likely to go with tried and trusted when it comes down to it (which is expected to be fair) but its hard to ignore Hooper now, he's not even starting upfront recently and he's scoring goals. His link up play was erratic in the past i felt but its come on along way without sacrificing his goal threat.

Bit nervy there for a bit in the first 15 minutes or so of the second half but all in all a deserved win and two brilliantly taken goals from Samaras and Hooper. Thought we were really going to batter them in the first half after Samaras put us ahead and we were moving the ball quickly but not getting that second goal at least before half time gave them life. Still another 3 points putting us 7 points clear and very much in charge now at the top of the table.

Great night through in Dundee, looking forward to Easter Rd now. They were playing well but have hit a bit of a slump lately (one win in seven maybe??), so I hope they find their form for this, get their season kick started again and give us a cracking game tomorrow.

Wilson suspended for 2 games despite the referee and the Dundee player involved both saying it was accidental

Striking dilemma: There is a hugely persuasive case that Celtic should sell Hooper now

A fair assessment, i'd hate to lose him but I dont think any of those clubs would pay a fee that would make it worthwhile selling in January tbh. Liverpool are buying Sturridge apparently, QPR have to sell first, Sunderland would have to sell first, Southampton realistically are the only ones that would buy him and have put in bids before but didnt they blow their kitty on Ramirez so they wont be paying stupid money either. Selling him January pretty much ends any hope of beating Juve over two legs too

Anyone know or heard anything about this?
Celtic look set to sign Nicolás Ignacio Castillo Mora when the transfer window reopens in january. The Chilean footballer plays as striker for Universidad Católica in Chile's Primera División.

Nicolas Castillo is one of Chile's hot prospects for the future, billed as a talent with exquisite technique, power and a good eye for goal.

In the first half of 2012, Castillo had several appearances in the first team, scoring important goals, as against Universidad de Chile in San Carlos de Apoquindo.
These performances have earned him nomination for the Chilean national team U-20, directed by Fernando Carvallo.

Following negotiations, Castillo is expected to complete a £1.75m move to Glasgow Celtic in January 2013 awaiting international clearance for a UK work permit.

If he has any sense and loyalty he will sign a new contract in January, play his L16 games that he worked hard to get to, then transfer in the summer. Makes no sense for him to leave to some pish non-entity Small 16 team in England and miss out on the L16. It's not like clubs are going to lose interest in him by the summer.

I dunno what would be worse for us though. Selling him in January or him not signing a contract and leaving in the summer for peanuts.

Heard about this one alright, dunno what to make of it because we arent looking a striker according to Lennon!

Only seen youtube clips of him, stocky lad with a great spring in his step

Off to Easter Road for a riot

What are the odds of "I predict a riot" being played over the PA system? :pac:

    Team

Forster; Wilson, Rogne, Ambrose; Lustig, Brown, Wanyama, Izaguirre; Hooper; Lassad, Samaras

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Is Forster naturally right footed or left footed? From hand he kicks regularly from his right, whilst from the ground he favours to use his left an awful lot!

    EDIT

    1-0 Hibs, Griffiths

Rogne's lack of game time showing badly there, nice finish from Griffiths from a tough angle

Fenlon got his tactics spot on in that half and Celtic have never looked like getting into the game. The back line has been poor in possession, not enough movement off the ball in midfield either. Shouldnt have dropped Kayal or started Rogne

Will be interesting how Celtic respond in the 2nd half. No sign of Miku on the bench he is a player that looked good in his first couple of starts but hasn't had much of a look in since, maybe he's injured. Watt is obvious option if we don't score soon.

Sammy's havin a bad hair day and he's not playing well either.

Paddy McCourt on for Lassad, surprised at that, hopefully he can do something.

About time Kayal is put on. Ridiculous playing Ambrose in midfield!

fck. Missed a rake of chances to equalise

Fair play to Hibs, better team on the day and Fenlon was tactically spot on. Their pressing of the midfield worked a charm. Those are the games where not playing Ledley or Kayal will get you crucified because Brown, Wanyama, Ambrose cannot do much in confined space. I know Lennon was rotating but he got the balance of the team wrong and they started the game in a coma. He'll have to take the blame for this.

Missed the game, sounds like it was for the best. Griffiths was offside but 0-0 isn't a good enough result anyway.

Ah well, onwards and upwards, bring on Motherwell on Wednesday. These 3 o'clock kick offs are quite the luxury

Just out of curiosity, what sort of banter / relationship do Hibs and Celtic fans have, is there an Irish Catholic background mateyness between the fans or is there a Weegie / Edinburgh animosity going on ?

Most people I know do not like them. Other than their club name and playing in green I've never seen anything 'Irish' about their current identity so there's not much of a bond over that. I think they dislike us because we're their parent club and we always win the league. These are healthy footballing reasons for disliking us though, which is a refreshing change to many other clubs in Scotland.

I don't like them but I obviously prefer them to Hertz and there's certainly a lot more clubs in the league I like less....

And if you know your history.......! Seriously.

There is an Irish dimension to hibs identity as there is an edinburgh one and a leith one, the support is drawn from across the community with a sizeable chunk being descendants of Irish immigrants as you would expect. The club has never tried to particularly emphasize this aspect of its identity over the other components however.

Most hibs fans dislike celtic intensely for a variety of reasons, refreshingly free of sectarian motivations.
