    Post details taken from facebook
    OP: Ocean Fury
    Somalia: Port city of Kismayo
    3rd August 2012

    Kismayo is a key asset for the Somalian pirate gangs, allowing supplies to reach areas under their control and providing a lawless heaven for their operations, and it is believed that Kismayo harbours the main banking operation channelling ransom money to the Al-Shabaab terrorist organisation, the loss of this facility will de-stabilise the pirate operations on the gulf of Somalia undermine support for Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

    5th August 2012
    Amisom troops begin combat operations to bring Kismayo under control of the Somali government, this has been met by brutal opposition and the realisation of a government controlled Kismayo looks bleak

    10th August 2012
    In the course of their combat operations, Amisom have, however, located several alarming pieces of intelligence that hint towards a large scale Al-Shabaab planned attack on the West. Despite their best efforts they have not been able to gather any further solid intelligence relating to the method or timings of the planned attack.

    In light of the worsening tactical position of the Amisom forces and the possibility of a terror attack on a scale not seen since 9/11, the International Community is now paying much closer scrutiny to the region.

    15th August 2012
    An urgently devised Classified U.N mandate is passed to provide JSOC assistance to the Amisom forces, Combat Troops from the U.S and U.K have been put on stand by to be despatched to the region with the operational goal of bringing the Southern port city of Kismayo under the control of Amisom and the Somali Government.

    The operation will be a “Black OP” spearheaded by U.K Special Boat Service Troopers and U.S Navy Seals, with the aim of sweeping through the city to locate and secure any intelligence relating to the planned terror attack and, if possible to capture (Dead or Alive) the Al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane. This will coincide with a with an assault conducted by Amisom troops, whose aim is to destroy Al-Shabaab’s operational capability at
    ground level by targeting the Somali pirate gangs, Al-Shabaab fighters and their assets.

    Whilst they are a competitor in so much as they run events, they don't have the same focus as TA-Events do; first of all, Brit-tac are site operators who have started to organise events with a view to running one, perhaps two, events in a given year. And secondly, without wishing to speak for either organiser, from my own observations;
    TA-Events aim to deliver as close to realism as is possible whilst balancing the reality that this is all just a very expensive game and whatever themed story they wish to provide players with. And do that very well.
    Brit-tac events to date - I don't know the organisers mind on this with 100% certainty - have aimed at reconciling aspects of milsim with the more social side of airsoft alongside a strong themed storyline, so for example whilst strict on ammo limits & magazine capacity, there hasn't been the same emphasis on command structure to date (that will change to some degree from discussion), uniform requirements are a little looser, and it isn't a 24 hour non-stop game. Action breaks on Sat. evening to allow everyone get their heads down/be sociable, etc. You'll find people who perhaps aren't quite as far gone as those of us who love TA-Events games, but in saying that you wont find sunday-airsoft hi-cap players either, and you will find a sizeable portion of serving/ex military sorts too.

    In writing what I'm writing above, I'm trying to remain as impartial to both parties as possible because a) I love TA-Events games and would like more of it please, and b) I'm a marshal for Brit-tac and like what I've seen so far. It's a different focus so offers something a little different rather than just try to compete like-for-like.
