Yep, nothing at all to do with time difference, its the weather

"There are other restrictions, e.g., teams from the same city (e.g. Manchester United and Manchester City) in general do not play at home on the same matchday (UEFA tries to avoid teams from the same city playing at home on the same day or on consecutive days), and Russian teams do not play at home on the last matchday due to cold weather."

    Good lad

    Good lad

bs, its because the last games have to kick off at the same time which would mean an 11.45pm kick off in Russia. Why is the weather going to be so much worse now than 2 weeks ago??

But hey you read it on wiki so must be true, eh?

Does the time change that regularly over there?? I'd imagine it's the same time in Gameweek 6 as it was in Gameweek 4 and 5

Although if they have to kick off simultaneously that could be the most substantial factor

You should correct the wiki then, sounds like they need your expertise :)

Its the same in Inernational football, last round of matches kick off the same time be it in qualifying groups or championships

Brilliant stuff last night. We didnt play to our best but done enough and deserved it in the end.
There is huge financial rewards that is vital to the club not to mention our co effiecent. Now we have time to get our domestic form back on track, and the January transfer window is there to play around with before we commence battle in february. The club is in a very good place right now.

I'm dreading the Jan window tbh

Really? I would be amazed if any of the first team leaves short of being offered astronomical money for them, there is no need to sell and a good showing in the last 16 will just add more to their value should any demand a move in the summer.

With a bit of luck Lennon might get to add a player or two.

Whatever happens in Jan, the upside is that if we do lose any players, we will get a lot more for them than we would have done with a poor Euro run. We are inn a great place now on two fronts: we are not under pressure to sell because of our CL monies, and the value of key players will have increased with CL exposure. The only clubs our players should be moving to in England - if at all - would be top 6 Prem clubs. And that means we play hard ball on money.

I wouldn't even entertain offers under £10m to £12m for big Vic.

There might be interest in Victor Wanyama, but Celtic are in a position to name their price for him. They can start the bidding at well over 15 million. Some EPL clubs are interested in Hooper as well, again they'll have to pay well over the odds if they want him. Celtic well sorted financially due to this CL campaign and our top players are mostly on long contracts.

Celtic will still get mugged off by some English team, mark my words.

How? As I said all our top players are on lengthy contracts and Celtic right now don't need to sell. Celtic's stock has risen, the price on the head of their players has risen as well. There'll be no mugging, if English teams want our players, they'll have to pay through the nose for them, now more than ever.

Congrats lads, fantastic achievement to reach last 16 of CL. I saw the 2nd half and while there wasn't much in the game, Celtic edged it I felt. Lenny has really brought that team together. I think there have been much better Celtic teams over last decade, but the spirit is no better. To beat Barcelona was a fantastic achievement, but it was more than this, they picked up enough points in other 5 games to deservedly qualify. Very exciting draw now.

Eh? The current Celtic squad is lightyears better than any other team we've had since the Seville Bhoys.

I like to think I'm fairly realistic on what our players are worth but if some team get Wanyama's for £10/12m then they're getting a bargain.

The price he'd go for should be well in excess of that. Wanyama would walk into Man Utds starting eleven.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,940 ✭✭✭BhoscaCapall

Wanyama is easily twice as good as Alex Song, who is apparently worth £15m, but I will eat my proverbial hat if we got even the same amount of him.

Hooper is far better than the likes of Andy Carroll but will probably go for around the £10m mark let alone £35m.

CL money or not, clubs know that we're not going to turn down eight figure offers.

Eight figure offers does not equate to being "mugged" as you said earlier. To date the most money Celtic have ever got for a player they sold was 9.5 mill for McGeady. Wanyama will not be sold for anything less than 15 million, unless his contract runs down. The success at CL level is a game changer for Celtic in every way.

These two statements sort of contradict each other, which is what is what I was getting at.

Did Lennon play that night in Turin when juve won with the late dodgy pen? Im sure he did. Karma's been fierce active over the last year in Scottish football, could be an omen..

Partick Thistle in Europe, i must have missed that:confused:

So who we all hoping for in the last 16? We will be viewed in some terms as the whipping boys and preferential draw, but in others I think teams will know they can very easily slip up against us, knowing an opening game at CP will be a tough tough match for them.
I'd love Dortmund but fear a pumping, so for me I'd like to get Shalke, Malaga or PSG.

    1972 UEFA Cup.

I believe they humped you lot 4-1 in the league Cup Final to get there.

Dortmund would be great for the atmosphere.

No matter who it is we can't lose (figuratively..), I'm sure the haters would try and stick the boot in if we got turned over but in reality we've done amazing to get this far, and we're a massive way off every first-place team in terms of resources (and most 2nd placed actually). There isn't really any of the teams there who we should be ashamed of losing to, so we need feel no fear.

I'd like Juve, proper prestigious team as opposed to arab spring ****e like PSG and Malaga
