Paulo called it right. Very Comfortable, defence looked solid enough but Big Forster still had a great game. Good to see Lassad and Hooper get among the goals.

Also have to ask what's going on with Scott Brown? He came on but if he needs the operation as bad as we're led to believe then he should get it sorted straight away. I'm not sure what the thinking is playing him half fit risking more damage.

Just finished watching the game. Fantastic response, had a feeling we'd pump them. Always nice to hammer them in Tynecastle. Delighted Hooper got his goal, thought he was pretty ineffective for most of the game, but what a cross from Mulgrew. Forster brilliant yet again.

Dont think brown should have played today or the last few games... his focus should be his body... generally happy with the game well done to fraser again hes a godsend

So what if Stokes attended a memorial to Alan Ryan? What is the issue?
Maybe something to do with Alan Ryan being nothing more than a career criminal. Attach the monicker 'Republican' to his name to make it look like his "cause" was in some way political.

Could not have asked for more. Four goals against an excuse for a football club who dived from start to finish. Can't believe Willie Gollum is allowed to ref any of our games. The penalty save was even better than a fifth goal. Forster is immense, he makes the saves look so simple, always with one hand. Almost felt sorry for Hearts because they could have had 3 goals, but then I remembered I despise them :pac:

He's hardly being discrete about it now is he? Which is my point, as long as he is in a high profile job like the one he has, he should keep this kind of thing private.

Also, I've no intention of getting into a prolonged slinging match about this with anyone.

Do you think that politics should be kept out of sport?

A win is a win. But last night was definitely more then that. I felt we needed a real statement type performance and that was what we got. Brilliant response to Saturday from Lennon and the team. Plus it is always sweet to really pump them on their own turf. It was clear from the get go we were really going to get after this game. Commons had a good chance before his brilliant cross set up Lassad for a well taken finish at the back post. Once Lustig slid in the second it was game over really. Although the clean sheet and big 4-0 margin goes down to another inspired goalkeeping performance from Forster.

Don't even know what they were wound up for, it was a clear foul on Wilson and Commons 'wasted' about 3 seconds. We were pumping them 3-0 so I'm surprised they weren't delighted we'd 'waste time'.

The crisis continues! Still top of the league, still favourites to win all cups and still favourites to qualify from the CL group though

Nobody injured and valuable game time for some players ahead of Wednesday. Two and a half months to concentrate on domestic games then and we'll see how much of a crisis we're in

Anyone see the game today? I just saw the result, not sure what to make of it tbh, just hope our home form improves before Wednesday night! As poor as Spartak have been in the CL, they're a bit of a step up from Arbroath!

    That OG is hilarious!

Well in the games that matter, our home form has been:

    2-1 Helsinki
    2-0 Helsingborgs
    0-0 Benfica
    4-1 Raith Rovers
    5-0 St Johnstone
    2-1 Barcelona
    1-1 Arbroath

Unbeaten. 5 wins and 2 draws, +12 GD. The only bad result has been Arbroath, but that's rather cancelled out by the Barca one and the fact it goes to a replay.

League performances could be better but you can't get any higher than 1st place, and taking our foot off the gas in those games has been a major factor in achieving some of the above results.

Why have you omitted the St Johnstone, ICT and Kilmarnock defeats? Do they not matter?

Well they're league games and we're top of the league with a game in hand and overwhelming favourites to win it, so apparently not.

Thats some strange logic you're employing there. Every game matters especially to the fans that are paying good money to go. Anyway looking forward to Wednesday, hail hail

I agree, and I'd prefer to be winning all our games but I don't think it's strange logic to say cup and CL games are more important than individual league games. You can win a league while losing games, what matters in the big picture is getting more points than the opposition, which we are doing.

Like I said, rotating our squad and/or our players not putting 100% into league games has helped our performances in Europe - especially with the ridiculous number of injuries we always pick up. I will take dropping a few points (and still being top of the league) if it helps us do well in Europe.

Besides, I think it's quite clear that when the league is our main focus we will boot on and pull away from the pack. After Weds we have almost three months to concentrate on domestic games and I think come January you'll see the difference.

We're not actually doing much worse than we were last season, when we actually had competition. And we still won that comfortably.

We're away to Kirkcaldy if we can navigate Arbroath..

No, not at all. Barcelona don't usually 'lie down'.

I reckon Benfica will equal our result, dumping us out in our arses. Draw in both games imo, Benfica through on head to head. I think Spartak will prove a lot trickier than some might think. They fighting for pride now.

No matter what team Barca send out, they should have too much for Benfica, which leaves me concerned about our game. Spartak are a good team and Celtic are Jekyll and Hyde at the moment. I'm quietly confident that we will get through though and a point will hopefully be enough.

They basically had their first team against us in the Nou Camp and we almost nicked a draw.

Then again, we beat Spartak in Moscow so there's no reason we shouldn't beat them at Paradise.

I reckon if I was a neutral I'd put my money on Celtic to go through, so it's probably just our pessimism/nerves/experience of getting fúcked over that's making us doubt it!

Barca should have enough, but my worry is that they've already won the group, regardless of what happens tomorrow, and Benfica will be gunning for a victory there to qualify. I just hope Barca will do enough for us to be able to get through on a draw, because I don't think we'll beat Spartak tomorrow.

My pessimism is based on our dreadful home form of late, now I know the CL is a different kettle of fish completely, but I'm not that confident tbh. Our first game at home v Benfica might be the one that comes back to bite us. Obviously will be delighted to be completely wrong! :)
