Chelsea players and fans maybe! :pac:

There is no moral victory in playing to the strengths of the opposition for a good game. You are playing for points not kudos. If you can get kudos along the way, fair play.

I agree of course but the neutrals are entitled to dislike it vocally

Football is about winning within the rules, not about allowing a better team to play their better football. Celtic, Chelsea and any other team have the right to play as they did, they never broke any rules.

The Barca/Spain lovefest over the last few years has caused people to forget that it's the result that counts when you play against a superior team.

8 goals in 4 away Euro ties doesn't look like anti football to me

For the record UEFA has altered the official posession stats to 74-26, Chelsea had 28% possession there last April.

Celtic's Neil Lennon has valued Victor Wanyama at £25m after it was confirmed that the Kenya midfielder has rejected the offer of a new contract.

But the manager insists that Celtic are "under no pressure to sell" the 21-year-old he rates good enough to play for Barcelona.

"£25m," said Lennon when asked to put a value on the player. "Wanyama has the world at his feet.

"But his feet are here and they won't be going anywhere unless we say so."

The midfielder joined Celtic in July 2011 in a £900,000 move from Belgian top-flight club Beerschot, signing a four-year contract.

Basically, a warning to other clubs and Wanyama that he wont be going anywhere in January.
Unfortunately, for some reason, Victor's agent and representative has come out and made public that they have turned down a contract," said the Celtic boss.

"I am not sure Victor has turned it down. He has not spoken to me.

"A month ago, he went on record saying how happy he was at the club and I have no reason to disbelieve that.

"I was actually with his representative in Barcelona on Tuesday and had a brief chat and there was no discussion of him having turned down a new contract.

"So this has come out of the blue and I am disappointed that this has come out in public.

"We don't want to do our negotiations in public."

Lennon said it was up to chief executive Peter Lawwell whether to re-open negotiations.

"We may go back to him again, but we have offered him a significant pay rise," the manager added.

"We don't have to do that, but we feel it is reward for his performances.

"It is credit to the club and the board and I agree with that philosophy of rewarding players for performances."

His agent seems like a right ****

Neil Lennon has given a scathing response to former Barcelona midfielder Bernd Schuster's criticism of Celtic's tactics at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.

The German said that teams like Lennon's should not be in the Champions League, despite the Scots being seconds away from drawing in Spain.

"I am disappointed that the media here wanted to emphasise his thoughts on the game," said Lennon of the reports.

"It's just the ramblings of someone who has failed as a coach."

The 52-year-old Schuster, who spent eight seasons at the Nou Camp, managed Fortuna Koln, FC Koln, Xerez, Shakhtar Donetsk, Levante, Getafe, Real Madrid and Besiktas after ending his playing career with Pumas in Mexico.

He resigned in March 2011 after less than a year in charge of Besiktas after being criticised by some in the the Turkish media for what they regarded as a reckless attacking style of play.

And Lennon had no time for his critic, who was also critical of Chelsea's winning Champions League final display when interviewed on Spanish station ABC Radio Punto.

The Celtic manager insisted that he had not gone out to be defensive in the 2-1 defeat by the Spaniards in the Group G game.

"I was sitting there 60 minutes into the game thinking 'God, what is Bernd Schuster thinking of our performance here, I better change it'," was Lennon's sarcastic response.

"I did go with two strikers and I did bring on James Forrest and Kris Commons.

"I didn't set out to be defensive, but sometimes Barcelona can get a grip of the opposition and not let go.

"So I don't take too much notice of Bernd Schuster.

"I am more into the thoughts of Gordon Strachan, Martin O'Neill and the Alex Ferguson's of this world, who I would take advice from before anyone else."

I like Lennon in press conferences! :pac:

It looks likely that this will be Wanyamas last season with us. He might go in January and if he does then I expect a record sale, a bid of 10-15 million would be great business.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says any form of racist behaviour is "an instant sackable offence" at his club.

So all Wanyama has to do is tell a Paddy Irishman joke and he can leave the club! :pac:

Are my eyes deceiving me or has Hearts looking to do a fans share offering for about £1.79m on the day they owe the taxman £1.75m!! What a joke of a club! Skacel signed for DUTD. As much as I like seeing Hearts suffer, hopefully Romanov can be driven out of that club. That easily trumps Charles Green latest ramblings saying he's no longer looking to flip the club and bit of a Rangers fan. What wont he say to get people's money!

Was Campbell Ogilvie involved with Hearts during the time Hearts were dodging taxes? There seems to be a pattern here....

Celtic team to face Kilmarnock: Forster; Matthews, Wilson, Mulgrew, Izaguirre; Forrest, Kayal, Ambrose, Ledley; Commons, Miku

Subs: Zaluska, McCourt, Lustig, Rogne, Watt, Wanyama, Hooper

I expected more changes than that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    How did Ledley miss that?

Kilmarnock playing very defensively, tis going to be a long match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    0-1 Sheridan

Poor pass by Matthews to the only man back, Ambrose, and Sheridan robs him and rounds Forster to walk it into the net.

Tired i reckon as are a few others, he's not playing great today. Lennon should have made more changes in defence & midfield i think and we need more width and running off the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    Penalty

Forster booked for not retreating to his line

    0-2 Kilmarnock

    McCourt on for Commons

Kilmarnock's first win at Celtic Park since 1955! Kilmarnock executed their game plan perfectly, Celtic were poor, tactically Lennon played too narrow and there wasnt enough running off the ball. Back to earth with a bang!

Hearts manager John McGlynn believes Scottish Premier League crowds would rise in a top flight without Celtic.

McGlynn said clubs would have a greater chance of winning the championship.

He added: "How many fans would think they would win the league if Celtic were not in it at this stage of the season?

"They would all fancy their chances of winning. We would all fill our stadiums if we all thought we could win the league."

The Edinburgh club face serious financial challenges and have been late in paying wages at Tynecastle on numerous occasions.

And the club are also disputing a £1.75m tax bill.

McGlynn thinks a top flight without leaders Celtic, who have previously explored joining the English Premier League and a European 'Atlantic League', "would cause great excitement".

"I think it would bring fans back to the game," he added.

The Hearts boss, admitting that the situation was hypothetical, said the health of the top flight without Celtic would hinge on continued TV coverage of the SPL.

"At the minute it's exciting because from week to week someone else is second in the league," McGlynn continued.

"I think crowds would come back if everyone thought they had a realistic chance of winning the league." Hearts manager John McGlynn believes Scottish Premier League crowds would rise in a top flight without Celtic.

McGlynn said clubs would have a greater chance of winning the championship.

He added: "How many fans would think they would win the league if Celtic were not in it at this stage of the season?

"They would all fancy their chances of winning. We would all fill our stadiums if we all thought we could win the league."

Hearts have more important things to worry about than dreaming up hypothetical scenarios without Celtic like reducing their wage bill to something they can actually afford!

I agree with you there. Although he has a point too. But no chance of course.

He didnt really talk about the knock on effect of having neither Celtic nor Rangers in the SPL. Like the effect it would have on sponsors & tv deals not to mention another 2 games where you are almost guaranteed a sell out stadium gone off the calender. I agree that a more competitive league would probably bring up attendances abit but not enough to cover losses incurred elsewhere on the balance sheets, not for a few years at the very least.

I'm all for changing the current voting structure & changing how the tv & prizemoney are distributed but half thought out pot shots like this one will not help. Remember Celtic will only have to form an allegiance with one other SPL club to stifle change.

Celtic team to play St Johnstone: Forster; Lustig, Wilson, Ambrose, Izaguirre; Brown, Wanyama, Ledley, Commons; Hooper, Watt

Subs: Zaluska, Kayal, Mulgrew, McCourt, Matthews.

Would have liked to see more squad players getting a run out but everyone needs to prove themselves again after the shambles of a performance on Saturday.
