Hi, was thinking of getting this SAMSUNG SMTS7800 500gb HD RECORDER for my ones but will this work in that i get rte channels etc and will reception be ok in the county monaghan area. many thanks

That's a Freesat satellite receiver and with a satellite dish will get the free UK channels. Will not get the Irish channels.

For the Irish Saorview channels and maybe the NI Freeview channels (as you're in Monaghan) via an aerial these may be more suitable, also from Samsung. Thread here.

Would the freesat get me the N.I Stations as if so could probably live without RTE, TV3 etc

The only thing missing from the basic NI lineup on Freesat is UTV HD and UTV1+1 I believe.

ok thats not too bad then, dont suppose you get the sports as you would get with sky sports

thanks, I ended up buying A humax foxsat hdr 500gb with some warranty left from a friend for 100stg so not bad I think as I said before I can live without rte tv3 as not much on them anyway,
I would like to know what kind of sat dish i would need for this machine in my area as there quite a selection on Ebay UK

There is ITV1+1 and ITV HD on freesat AFAIK and with only a few regional variations there is little difference with having the UTV versions.

A carp zone 2 sky dish with quad LNB is what most people use. A Triax TD64 and quad LNB is the superior option.

so a dual lnb would be no good, and wouldnt work in the monaghan area
i purchased a humax hdr recorder 500gb so now need a suitable dish

i see this one on Ebay, would it be ok
