This seams to be a decent punt, at 85000 miles it's barely run in and I love the look of them :D

It's the exterior styling that i really like. It was conservative at the time but has matured really well IMO.

    Bought This Saab Aero tonight.

    View2-12946286.jpeg

It has parking sensors, heated electric seats, self dimming mirror, xenons, electric folding mirrors, cream leather, etc.
    Got it for 1100€.
Followed my heart and ignored all of the alarm bells.
Could be in market for a new engine as half way down from wexford the oil light started to flicker now and then and there is knocking noise from the engine. I think that the knocking is coming from top but maybe I'm just trying to calm my self down by saying that.
Will listen again tomorrow. I will drop the sump next week to inspect for oil sludge.
Also seems that there is a lot of oil on the back of the engine.
    Oil level is ok.
Cant afford major repairs at the moment as will need money for college next month.
I hope it is only a blocked oil screen and no damage to engine is done.
Fecking eejit as you Irish might say.

Not entirely sure but I'm pretty confidant that someone on here a few months/weeks ago looked at that and walked away because of foreseeable major issues.
Start scrolling back a few posts...

... best of luck, sounds like it's w@nked though. If you're hope is correct about the oil screen it's defo w@nked.

I had a look at this one

Will need new SID, new battery, new DI Cassette, couple of new tyres, little repair to front bumper and aircon doesn't work. I would have taken it for 1500€ but she didn't want to drop that low. Strange that there are only couple things there to tell that the car is Aero.

And just after having a look at this.

    View2-12749259.jpeg

He would have taken 850€ but there few things that were really worrying - exhaust manifold had a blow, oil leak from head gasket (not rocket cover), Gearbox dipstick dry and really black. He said he noticed white smoke when driving. Also will need 4 tyres. So I walked away.

    Continuing to search.

    Sorry confuddled myself....

That guy was me. I walked away as she wanted 1750 for it. Now I couldn't resist the 1100€ price.
If it's w@nked as you say I will do it as a little project during winter.
Don't know why I still don't regret buying it. Wanted 9-5 Aero for a long time but couldn't really afford a decent one. So I bought best equipped piece of scrap.
The challenge now is to bring it back to good health.
Feel a bit nervous though about total cost of the car by the time it's fully repaired.

Ok. I do regret buying it. Just don't want to admit it.

From 1989 to 95 it was 24V engine, 150hp. Decent car, looks great in the pictures.
I am more than sure someone will go to see it very soon, and - if it is genuine mileage and condition - will buy it.

What is wrong with the glovebox btw?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 694 ✭✭✭heathersonline

    Surely there's 0% chance that's genuine?!!

    Looks a bit gapped alright.

I reckon they're really old photos and the car won't sell, or, it'll be gone by this evening.

From 91 to 95 bmw E34 5 series got the UPDATED Engine 6 Cylinder 24 valve from the 88 to 91 model which was 6 cylinder 12 valve. It looks a bit too good to be true someone was playing with the mileage of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,536 ✭✭✭✭L-M

I'd also imagined it spent some of it's life in the UK due to the colour/auto/reg.

No, it isn't missing a digit. What digit is missing there?

Anyone know this car it looks clean . The only worry i would have is had it a hard life on a drift track . I would like to know is the diff banging for the want of a change.

It's the abarth kit, which you had to pay extra for even on a sporting. Alloys are off an elegance model I think.

I could've sworn I saw that van abandoned in a housing estate in gort last year

    ^^^^^^^^
Poverty-spec seats, though, and won't have all the toys (cruise control, heated seats). Think I'd rather spend a couple of hundred more and get the more loaded version. They're a nice bus, though, no question.
