hello everyone, I'm restoring a genuine Gartrac G6, a road going version of the G3 rally car, these are very rare so I can't wait to put it on the road! however I do need a clean and solid boot door and also a bonnet, I may take a complete car if the price is right!

im beginning to sound repetitive even to myself, but for ford escorts, try www.irishescortclub.com + they would be very interested to hear about your G6. I'm sure there's a G3 owner or two there also, and definitely also a few non gartrac but rwd mk3 escort owners

    Hi all,

I have posted this car some months back in this thread. She has been sitting idle in my garden for the past few months and I'd love to find a new good home for her rather than having to call the breaker.

Workwise - emissions (this car has always flown through its NCT and developed emissions problem after a section of the exhaust was replaced. We haven't confirmed that it's because of an air leak though but should be easy to remedy); 2 small rust spots on the back door and a small one on a floor pan. One shock absorber and the radiator need changed too. Otherwise in perfect order. Has been loved throughout its life.

    Thanks - Valerie

Has anyone got a drivers window for a 1979 Mercedes SL R107?

It seems that it must be from an SL as I bought an SLC window and while it is similar it does not fit properly.

Is it toughened or laminated? If it's laminated you can cut it with a grinder to the shape you need providing it's bigger the the glass you need. I've done it anyway so it can be done!!;)

    Thanks Grimreaper and to Capri.

Capri - yes they are not cheap although I had come across Niemoller before. Problem with getting glass shipped is possibility of breakage. Had this already with a Distributor cap.

Grimreaper - that hadn't occurred to me - and never would have - good thinking - I'll check it out and let you know if it works.

Oh it works!! I've done it many times.

Hope I'm in the right thread for this, but looking to source a red Fiat Ritmo D (doesn't have to be in working order!) or a similar shape model but needs to be red. I know it's a complete long shot cos they're rust buckets, but maybe someone knows of someone with one sitting in a yard somewhere?

Has this anything to do with the girl in Tralee also looking for a red Ritmo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 397 ✭✭whitewave

Yep, that's me! We haven't had any luck unfortunately, the original car that I was born in was last taxed and insured in 1993, so fairly sure it's been scrapped, but if we could find another similar red Ritmo then we could take the photos with replica licence plates.

Whitewave, Try Dept. Of Transport in Shannon they may have a record of it on their old computor. I bought a Volvo recently, that was not taxed since 1992, and they eventually found the record. I hope this helps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 397 ✭✭whitewave

Thanks for the suggestions! Today Fm already contacted the department of Transport, and the only information they could find was that the seats were apparently taken out of the car in 2010. Other than that, there's no sign of it, or any other red Ritmo anywhere in the country.

We had thought about photoshop, but I suppose it just wouldn't be the same!

Using a stand-in car (if you can find one) wouldn't be the same either.

Maybe consider finding one that is not a colour match, taking the pics and then photoshopping the correct colour in.
