PFA Scotland say the Scottish FA has "rejected to issue the registration for one of our clients to an English Premier League club".

Looks like the FIFA will be joining this mess for a while. If Sevco get Div3, they cant afford to keep any of these players anyways!

    Is John Brown mentally unstable?

Oh I gotta hear this, send me a link..... it he understandable? I struggled with the last video I saw of him.

Apparently the owners have asked him to come to Ibrox to show the title deeds, because that's what he's going on about.

    He refused.

He's not handling it very well, but I can't believe Rangers fans are now taking Green's side.
The man has done nothing to earn my trust, on the contrary.

The guy just sounds pished anytime he speaks. What do the newco fans think of him saying "the only games that matter are Celtic and European games"?

It's all over the forums that he was drunk at a RFFF meeting last night and had to be told to sit down and stop interrupting.

He was also on Clyde SSB, I haven't listened to it all yet

That seems to be his biggest soundbyte alright!

He wasn't drunk, it's just the way he talks.

He's not the most articulate person.

The issue was that he went on a rant before Green and Murray appeared, and was told to sit down and that he would get his chance at the end of the meeting.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9376851/Rangers-hopes-of-reprieve-in-SPL-vote-sunk-by-arrogant-Malcolm-Murray.html
The Rangers Supporters’ Trust, meanwhile, accused other SPL clubs of acting out of “malice”.
Mark Dingwall, as spokesman for the Trust, said: “We are disappointed but not surprised by this decision which has been taken out of malice rather than for the greater good of the Scottish game.”

Someone needs to have a word with Dingwall. He is completely out of touch with reality. I think most Rangers fans would not suffer the persecution complex this guy has, thankfully.

I don't even class Dingwall as a fan, he doesn't care as long as his name is on the paper, on the news.

    Self important dick.

Officially accepted into the SFL, decision on which level next week. Again, 75% of Rangers fans are accepting division 3, I think we'll be in division 1 though.

The clubs vote on that next week, you cant be officially accepted days before they have the power to reject your application.

Just saying what was mentioned on the news.

Supposedly they are not entertaining any new entry applications other than ours.

Fair enough but we both know that they've gotten it wrong. Your application is pending a SFL vote of 50%+1 next Thursday, nothing happens before that. Just because nobody else is making an application doesnt make it official that you're accepted. Thats lazy journalism. I expect Sevco to be admitted alright but only into Div3.

    No to Sevco in Div1:
    Airdrie Utd
    Clyde
    Cowdenbeath
    Dundee
    Dunfermline
    East Fife
    Falkirk
    Morton
    Partick Thistle
    Peterhead
    Raith Rovers
    Stirling Albion
    Stranraer

Lucky for ye that Charles Green wasnt arrogant enough to push for Div1, ye would have been sitting in the dunce's corner for a year if he tried the **** he pulled at the SPL meeting.

Not sure Dundee will have a vote.

I agree with TB, I think they'll end up in Div 1 also. Plenty of time for some more bullying and threats before the 12th. After what's gone on, I just cannot see Div 3 happening.

If it comes to Div 3, which I don't believe it will, they'll be in a new SPL2 next season, then into the SPL proper the season after that.

They wont be voting yes which is what is required that carry the vote. You could easily add Livingston to that list considering what has gone on before.

Statements like this are being run up and down the SFL
Due to speculation surrounding the issue of “Rangers” and its possible admission to the SFL, the Board of Cowdenbeath FC wishes to clarify the following.

At the regular monthly Board Meeting held on Monday 2nd July 2012, the Board of Cowdenbeath resolved that it would support any application made by “Rangers” to join the SFL. It would not support any attempt to admit “Rangers” into the First Division of the SFL.

Today, “Rangers” have been excluded from the SPL.

At an Emergency Board Meeting held at Central Park tonight (4th July 2012) the Board again considered the matter.

The Board decided that it would support any application by “Rangers” to join the SFL but would vote against the present proposal which, amongst other matters, would admit “Rangers” directly into the First Division of the SFL.

This decision has been taken in the interests of football and the best interests of Cowdenbeath FC.

A Board spokesman said “If integrity in our game is to survive, then Rangers must start off SFL life in the Third Division. This is an SPL problem but the Clubs of that league have taken their decision for reasons which they must explain to all Scottish football supporters. The SPL and SFA should have resolved this long before now. They have tried to pass the buck to the SFL clubs and have tried to force them to accept “Rangers” into the First Division – to provide the greatest benefit to the SPL. This lacks any integrity and casts a dark shadow over our game. Cowdenbeath FC condemns this approach. The Board is in no doubt that our stance is consistent with integrity and the long term financial future of our Club. We ask all supporters of what ever Club, who share our views, to rally round and back us in the Season ahead”.

Chairman Donald Findlay added – “Speaking for myself, and myself alone, it is clear to me that people at the highest levels of our game have tried to hold a gun to my head and the heads of my colleagues. That will never work. But I have a long memory and will not forget what they tried to do and the way they tried to bend me, and this Club, to their will. That will never be allowed to happen”

Also, an SPL2 was not discussed at the SPL meeting. I think there is no time to implement an SPL2 before the season starts.

Stuart Regan has been putting fires out this morning over comments he made last night. He's been slaughtered by the press over what he said. If Doncaster puts SPL2 on the table and all the clubs reject the invite as a **** you over the "holding guns" to SFL chairmen's heads then he will lose his job through a vote of no confidence. That snake isnt brave enough to try on a SPL2.

Just coming in on this late but would Rangers in Div 3 be a bad thing for the SFL?

I have not read all the previous replies::o

Would it not mean that then all teams, bar ones promoted/relegated, would get a couple of bumper gates? Then at least everyone gets to share the "wealth"?
It's not too long ago that re-election was an annual exercise for my beloved Torquay in the English league.
My own view is that the SPL as a working unit are not far off oblivion themselves. As a business model the league as a whole is a joke and the respect for the "Old Firm" is a quickly fading spectacle. They cannot survive usually past European qualifiers at best and the bigotry of both sides is so outdated, and the winning of the SPL, what does it actually mean in the real footballing world?
So, would this not be a time for Rangers or newco or whatever be best to provide for application to the English league in some format. Celtic and whoever else to follow in due course and faze out the Mickey Mouse SPL/SFL. SFA retained akin to FAI/IFA but to run the amateur league of those remaining. Football is a business at the end of the day.

Amazing that some people can't grasp the notion that Celtic and (what was) Rangers are not two sides of same coin.

The so called bullying wasn't just done by Green. The other ten demanded 50% share in gate money as a sanction for getting back in, he told them he would rather let fans in free than give into them strangling us for money.

I don't think we've heard the last of this yet from the SPL 10, if we are in division 1 it's going to be interesting to see what looney ideas they come up with when we get back up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,340 ✭✭✭TheBuilder

Have to laugh at those not up to date with Scottish Football still peddling this bigotry nonsense. Yes it's stil there, it'll never go away totally, but anyone who suggests the rivalry is hugely based on it these days pays too much attention to incidents in Northern Ireland and Glasgow and attributes them to Rangers and Celtic.

Scotland has a societal problem, it's all too easy to blame it on the football teams instead of those in charge of the country doing something and accepting their problem.

Regular contributors to this thread arent here to spoon feed people information. I cant be the only one getting sick of people coming into this thread passing stupid uninformed opinions about Scottish Football and couldnt be bothered to read the thread or the news for updates. If you want to know whats going on, try reading the damn thread!

Actually, the bullying I'm talking about was not in relation to Green at all... it was moreso the authorities (Regan and Doncaster in particular).

I see Regan trying to worm his way out of his "social unrest" comments.... pathetic really. It's shocking to think these people are in charge of Scottish football.

    Yeah I see that mate.

How Regan is still in a job I don't know, so far out of his depth it's unbelievable. Now is the time for a clear out and sort things out at the top.

IIRC Cowdenbeath were the only club to come out in favour of a D1 berth a week or so ago.

To turn around your only public supporter so completely just shows how incompetent those running the game really are.

Donald Finlay is chairman of Cowdenbeath, hardly surprising that they would support Rangers getting into Div1. Although given that he has shares in Rangers I don't see why he/Cowdenbeath should be allowed vote http://blogs.channel4.com/alex-thomsons-view/potential-conflicts-interest-heart-scottish-football/2137

If Rangers go into Div 3, will this affect the tv deal with Sky? Is every club going to suffer because of this?

I don't understand why they wouldn't go into the Division 1. I'd imagine it makes financial sense to everybody involved for them to go there.
