quick question, does anyone know (and really I'm looking at you Steve SI) if the iQue versions of Nintendo handhelds will play the regular Carts for those systems? So will an iQue GBA play PAL GBAcarts?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,083 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Well the N64 iQUE won't take N64 carts. Possibly there's a way to play teh romz?

There are iQue versions of other Nintendo consoles? I thought it was just the N64.

I've heard the iQue ds can take normal ds carts but I'm not sure.

My understanding was that the iQue DS was just a rebranded standard DS for the Chinese market. It's Chinese law that you need a seperate Chinese company partner to sell stuff like that in China.
Or at least it was, I think.

Aye, that game is super rare. One of the rarest on the 3DO in fact.

I'd love a copy of Night Trap for the 3DO. :o

    Ok now, steady on....
Night Trap is an abomination, part of the aborted era of FMV games, supported by such sh1te consoles as the MegaCD and the CDi.
Night Trap is in good company, Sewer Shark, Microcosm all deserve a painful death, with extra disemboweling.

As much as we love it CiDeRmAn, you really have to include the 3DO in there to a certain extent as it's not blameless in the whole "FMV Game" scene of the 90's :(:(:(
But luckily the 3DO is also a cool/fantastic/bestester everer console as well so it's all good.

    Nope, no we don't!
The 3DO had Return Fire, The Need For Speed, Road Rash, The Horde, Star Control, now they may have had FMV but they weren't FMV games.
Even Wing Commander 3 and 4 had some decent flying action interspersed with video, and it wasn't all bad either.
Ok, so there were a few hangovers from the earlier console, certainly Mega Race wasn't great, basically a manky prerendered car on a FMV race course.
But no, my 3DO is too beloved to me to considered in the company of a CDi.....
Steve, I am surprised at you!

Did anyone see the recent review by Spoony of a film called 'Game Over'. It's about a super hacker who is made play games by the most advanced AI in the world (who enjoys his games) and it will kill him if he fails. For the game segments it features footage from loads of Mega CD games like Prize Fighter, Sewer Shark and even an unreleased Mega CD game.

The best bit was when they were talking about how the AI started on 'gateway games' like Pong and Pac-man before moving on the the 'hard stuff'.

Nothing beats Burn: Cycle for FMV goodness :P

    I confused....

I can return Witcher 2 or keep it.
If I return it my options are as follows,

    Ridge Racer Unbound
    Mass Effect 3
    Mario Tennis Open

    So, what to do????

Help me A&R regulars, you're my only hope....
