Thanks man, just booked two tickets, I didn't book one for my son, assuming that the talk with the director might be a little too much for him.... may catch flak for this later on....

Always be careful typing "catching flak", all too easy to make a mistake and wind up giving people images like this in their heads....

There is a site in Japanese that lists all machines in arcades and opening/closing times. I'll dig it out for you.

I'll be covering, in depth, the entire experience on my blog. Plus a few other surprises thrown in too. But those are secret for now! :)

You mean you snuck me back a load of goodies and a japanese bride........thanks a bundle! I'll buy you a drink sometime

Now can I tempt you with a 5am screening of the Dark Knight Rises that the Lighthouse are also doing next month. The studio has forbidden midnight screenings, but they said nothing about 5am!

    Might just, might just.....
Of course, it means getting up at 4am, on the other hand I can watch the fim and still get to work on time at 8am!
Plus, it's such an amazing cinema, makes going to the pictures feel like an occasion rather than the trip to a storage facility that Multiplexes resemble.
I mean, any of the other movie goers here feel like taking an axe to the head of the muppet who came up with Premier Seating at the UCI's?

    It's on the Friday.

    http://www.onlinecinematickets.com/index.php?s=LHSMITHF&p=details&eventCode=7527

Just think how much of a hipster you'll be in work all day having seen it before it was cool... you may also slip into a coma in the utility closet from lack of sleep though.

New arcade machine that's on its way to me :)
I'll probably switch over from the Egret 3 to using this full time I reckon.

Found my old NES, SNES and megadrive in my attic there last night, amazing stuff.

The thing that stood out for while playing them is how EASY we have it now! Imagine if the latest Call of Duty or Halo game having a game over screen or continues

    New 3ds xl: http://m.ie.ign.com/articles/2012/06/22/nintendo-reveals-3ds-xl

Just looks like a bigger version with no extra slide pad thingy. Also won't include an ac adaptor, except the American version.

Still only one thumb stick? Seriously Nintendo??

Another two fingers to the fans.

Curious, if the screen is almost twice as big but the resolution unchanged - does that not mean the picture will be less sharp? Or is there really no difference when talking about screens that small anyway?

/Edit: Wonder will it be more forgiving with that sweet spot you have to hold the original in for the 3D effect?

Visuals took a hit when the DSi XL came out. I can only imagine it'll happen here too - although maybe to a much lesser extent as the 3DS games are obviously a lot more advanced visually than DSi ones.

Be interesting to hear about the 3D 'sweet spot' alright. I'd also like to see how the effect looks with a screen that much bigger.

Weird that they didn't include the thumb stick. REALLY weird. I mean I can kind of understand them not wanting to release another small one with it, but the fact that the unit is bigger it's a no brainer.

Finally! I can buy a 3DS now (seeing as the Vita has no SHMUPS and the 3DS has Kokuga and Nano Assault). Oh wait, is the XL still region locked?

I have a DS Lite and a DSi XL. I use the XL a lot more than the Lite. Much prefer the bigger screens than the postage stamp-sized ones.

Do you think maybe it's so the 3DS can double up as one of those WiiU controllers? the XL version brings the 3DS screen size a little more in line with the one on that controller.

Haha, reallY? I expected the Vita to have plenty of Shmups and other Asian goodness tongue.gif Is there much of a difference in lite and XL? I personally love te lite cos I find it nice and compact but I haven't been playing anything at all with all these exams of recent mad.gif This new 3DS will definitely not be on my shopping list but I hope for the sake of everybody buying one that it's more sturdy than the regular 3DS. Within the first week of getting mine I came home to find the screen going wild with yellow scan lines or something to hat effect mad.gif Brought it back to HMV and got a Red one no bother though, fair play to them cool.gif But the hinge on the 3DS still feels a bit sh*tty compared to the light frown.gif Anybody have some recommendations for a few DS games that I could find cheap in HMV, think under €20 redface.gif

If you're not going to be using the circle pad pro, then buy one of these 3DS metal cases.

    168903.jpg

The best thing about it is it reinforces the hinge so no more floppy top screen.

Thank you! Exactly what I need! At the moment I'm actually terrified to use mine at the moment, feels so soft and delicate, like a Summer rose....

I just noticed they decided to put real buttons on the select, home and start bar thing. Much better idea. I hate the way they're not buttons on the 3DS

Yeah thats great alright, the 3ds has those awkward soft buttons. And it seems that they are using a normally sized stylus, not that gigantic old women "bingo marker" of a stylus on the NDS XL :P

It beggars belief this thing still has one stick. If I do ever pick one up, I'll wait for a limited edition & just leave the bloody thing sealed.

Adding another stick would mark the end of the original 3DS probably
