If you want to write up the blurb for it and send it on to me I'll put it up. I always struggle trying to work out what the hell to write on the things. Want me to stick into dropbox so you can listen and write up something?

Also can't believe that metacritic is still broken. Was sure they'd have copped on within minutes.

    urban strike is even worse

    Awesome idea!

I'd personally love to see a more knob / fader heavy version though for the ultimate control!

I'm not much into trackers, but it got me thinking.

My RS7000 would be the perfect sequencer for a gameboy,

all I have to do is find some kind of midi input for it, that would let me assign different CC values for each control.

speaking of urban strike...IF I remember correctly doesnt one of the levels have you saving people after terrorists blow up the world trade centre...and it's set in 2001?

Someone explain why the music on this sounds so disgraceful compared to the MD version :(

Sounds like its an OPL3 chip (Ad Lib) or software emulation of that chip.

It isnt a whole word apart from the YM2612 in the Mega Drive,

so in theory they could of made it sound almost identical,

but it would take a lot more effort, taking memory dumps from the mega drive version and analyzing the code etc...

Yeah if you stick it into dropbox I can see what I can do writing up something.

I know the guy is a scumbag selling nukes, but that is some nice customer service. Plainly he cares.

"You hate monkeys? I hate monkeys too! Free demonstration, let's go grab some beers, get on a boat and nuke a monkey island! No obligation to buy, because I like you. And don't worry, pirates don't go there any more. It'll be fun! Like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but on a boat and with more of a Tom Clancy feel!"

Admit it. You're never going to want to buy a nuke, but if you do, you'd hope the seller would be as nice as that guy there. I for one wish adverts.ie could manage to attract more of that kind of seller. Do they let prisoners in maximum security prisons run eBay shops?

just back from an awesome holiday to barcelona, I asked around and tried to find any game shops but no such luck. Then in the airport on the way home i saw this.....

Basically this thing was horrible, a pc running in a Naomi with really badly placed controllers and the whole thing is just filth. Pc versions of street fighter, sega rally, pes and nba on it I think.

Plus a huge EXIT GAME button just ****ed on the panel aswell

I think the sounds are very reminiscent of Road Rash 3 Tour de Force.

    *does a bit of googling*

Yep, the exact same musician did both:

Only discovered it for the first time a few months ago, and I was blown away by it, went on a posting rampage iirc!

It defintiely wins the award for the Greatest Technical Achievement on the Mega Drive.

And that Battlefield comparison you made is very good actually!

I've never heard the intro music to the strike games on the Snes, man are they awful! Talk about completely butchering some great tunes. They sound like a small group of people playing panpipes - passively.

The Megadrive ones on the other hand sound like a bad ass rock concert in comparison.

Red Zone is technically very good - shame the game itself isn't the best. Reminds me of The Adventures of Batman and Robin.

The mad riff before the main theme on Urban Strike is mental :pac:
And it goes a bit mad near the then too
Its like something from a Frank Zappa album.

Just found out Makoto Shinkai (5cm Per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, Children Who Chase Voices from Deepl Below) worked on the intros to the Ys games. Amazing!

But more importantly, for those who don't know, he's coming to Ireland Monday after next. Cannae wait, although don't know when tickets are on sale yet: http://www.accesscinema.ie/news/accesscinema-and-the-embassy-of-japan-in-ireland-to-host-irish-premiere..html

Children Who Chase Voices from Deepl Below is a stupidly beautiful film.

It's a total homage to classic Ghibli and is way better than anything they've done themselves in a long time.

It hasn't really done him any favours to shake off the 'Next Miyazaki' label, but it's still a rather fantastic film.

Totally getting my copy of Voices of a Distant Star signed.

Have Ghibli even put out anything recently? I think the most recent I watched was Ponyo :P I anything by Hayao Miyazki (sorry for bad spelling of his name!) My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and Mononoke-hime are epic.
I've only seen Spirited Away in original audio though, all others have been Disney dubs :(
