out of those listed above its a tough choice tbh and could depend on your mood. The US office would not be top of my list but it would be a good one to break up a series if your watching it and thus insure you dont get burned out on any series.

I know mad men is great but tbh ive never been able to get into it. Game of thrones is my favourite of those atm but then again its season just ended and others are about to return. If you want to be up to date with whats new or want a bit of fantasy / war this would be the one for you atm. If not id go for breaking bad personally but be warned its not the fastest paced and its not light subject matter... but it is quality.

If none of these have grabbed you then Dexter might. its both light and dark viewing as obviously a serial killer isnt anything but dark but the show isnt hard to watch, has humour and some real comical characters too. Production value wise I wouldnt put it on a level with Breaking bad or Game of Thrones but it will hook you just as much (especially in certain seasons - 1, 2 and 4 are probably my favs so far)

Hey Jaykhunter, cheers for the recommendation on Archer. Watched two episodes last night. I love that kind of humour and its very like bobs burgers.
Might be because the guy who does archer does bob in the exact same way. He seems like such a lazy voice artist but it works, so i dont care. :)

Archer is fúcking outstanding. He is such a prick. It really is laugh out loud stuff. So many one liners

"They are Hookers when they are dead CYRIL" being the best one liner in any comedy. Ever.

Maybe because of the voicing though, I just do not like Bobs Burgers. Bob is Archer. When he speaks, I picture Archer. That said, I have got a few laughs out of it.

A friend of mine told me to wait a while to watch Bobs Burgers so as to forget Archer for a bit, so thats what I will do.
Dexter, the first season is the best in my view.

I hated Dexter more than I hated Breaking Bad. The acting is ridiculously poor.

I agree (well not about Breaking Bad, but about Dexter). Watched most of the first season and just couldn't get into it at all because I honestly couldn't care if any or all of them died. Same with Sopranos. Watched three seasons of it. I could tell it was a good show. I could tell it was well written. It had a pretty good story. And yet, I hated everyone in the show. I had no interest in continue to watch them.

Compare that to The Wire, where regardless of whether they were a good or bad guy, I pretty much liked all of the characters.

The only show which comes close to The Wire for me is Treme. Treme is the best acted show I have ever seen. The music was bloody awesome also. I would almost argue Treme is a better show.

There seems to be a common denominator between those 2 though :)

the thing with Treme is if you like the music you will love the show (I think its great) but im not so sure how non fans of the musical genre will get on watching it, probably would get bored fast despite it being so well made/acted.

That's always been Dexters one flaw in my view, the character of Dexter is great but when he isn't in a scene i find myself losing interest. There's no one else to care about aside from him.
I mean there wasn't really a stand out main character in the Wire, you could say McNulty but there were long periods where he didn't appear at all and the show never suffered as a result. Mainly because you were invested in everyones character, even prop Joe ffs.

So whos going to win it lads? My money is on Holland.

In regards to Ireland I'm not too hopeful of progressing from the group but you never know, should be a fun week regardless. :D

Really just hope we're not out of it going into the last game. Bookie on SSN just now saying we're going to park the green bus, would seem to be the best tactic.

I thought Doakes was a great character.

The books are better than the series imo. Both
    Doakes and Brian
    stay alive while
    LaGuerta
dies. Keeping it like that would have been far better.

Got the Greeks in the work sweep so come on you boys in blue!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Ref is a absolute crook in this game, any greek foul/polish dive is a automatic yellow for Greece. Its not as if Greece are much of a threat to spoiling the party UEFA.

Yeah, I really get the feeling the ref doesn't like Greece. The yellow that lead to the red card was just ridiculous.

    Danger here!
Bring on Dellas now to shut up shop.

I think I heard several guns go off in Doughiska aka Polishka.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

    Its fallen to Samaras!
F*cking useless. Poland are all over the shop in the 2nd half.

2 points dropped for Greece against the weakest team in the group.

Woah woah woah! The Dexter books are different from the series?? Christ ive got the first three sitting up in my room(got them for free) and never read them as i assumed they were the same as the TV series. Looks like i won't have to buy a new book after all. :D

    Edit: On Doakes
i thought the series suffered for a bit after he was killed off, it was better when Dexter always had someone questioning him and chipping away at him all the time

Russia looking very strong at the moment, 2 up at HT against the Czechs. I can see why they're many peoples dark horse this year.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

A Cakewalk for Russia there, they will comfortably top this group but the Czech's, Greek and Poles aren't good at all. Looking forward to seeing the Dutch and Germans tomorrow.

Pretty poor showing from the Czechs, happy that Russia won.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭Charlie Haughy

Any of you gambling men put a bet on russia for the cup? Id imagine you would have good odds before the game today, but id say those odds have now been slashed big time.

They looked very impressive, and could be a threat to whoever they face from group B. Also, the game showed how good Arshavin is when he actually gives a toss, unlike when he was at Arsenal, not this BS about him playing a more central role.

Hope the germans spank Portugal tomorrow.

Are many doing the FF? I had Dzagoev and Lewandowski so I'm pretty happy. I need the Dutch to do well tomorrow. I have a feeling Afellay could be one of the stars of the tournament.
