For the scéal, you should learn something off and then manipulate it so it will fit the opening sentence. In a sample paper, we somehow managed to twist 'I stood in front of the other students in the school hall, the atmosphere was electric' into a road accident.

At least, that's what our teacher suggested.

Ah yah I get chu Thank, What about the essay what do you think ??

Well, I've learned off 'Ceolchorim' (concert) and am in the middle of learning off 'Timpiste' (accident), so either one of them would do I think. Has your teacher given you notes/sample stories to learn?

The appeal/popularity is probably a dream question. I will shed a manly tear of happiness if it comes up.

When answering a question about Hamlet's relevance today, can you give points in favor of that opinion, and then others on the contrary?

    For e.g.
    AGREE:
The constant calculations of how Hamlet perceives himself and how others perceive him are notions that are reinforced in modern adolescents.
    However;
    DISAGREE:
The same degree of filial obligation is not as prevalent in today's society.

Or would an answer be stronger if one just stuck to 1 opinion?

    Thanks.

Nah, I doubt that they'll know straight off! they may see some is forced and it could lose you valuable purpose marks but you'll be fine =)

our teacher warned us over and over again that if you 'regurgitate' an essay in the exam the examiner will be able to see it straight away and they generally will be less likely to mark you well...they won't take marks off for it, but they'll be stricter if you get what i mean

I'd imagine as long as you can back your points up, you should be grand. Though keep linking back to the play as much as you can (quote if you can).
The way I'm gonna do this answer is break it up into three segments.

    CHARACTERS
    -Hamlet himself
    -Claudius
-complexity and flaws of them etc. 3-dimensional (flaws etc). Just like in real life.

    THEMES
    -Deception/betrayal/corruption
    -Death
    -Revenge
-all faced by people in modern times etc.

    LANGUAGE
    -poetic language
-tells a lot about characters (eg. Laertes when he gives advice to Ophelia, using euphemisms, but when he returns, he uses much more conversational language. "To cut his throat i' the church".)

If the essay is obviously prepared, the highest they can give you is a high D. My advice is to learn your main essay then make a few essay plans for back up in case you can't apply your good essay to any given title.
If there is suspicion of plagiarism, they will investigate.

Unless it really fits a title, change it around. That will make it ****tier (probably) and will not raise suspicion.

Just adapt what you've learned to suit the question. Examiners expect you to have prepare for the exam in some way, so learning an essay should be fine but it MUST answer the question.

Remember the PCLM marking scheme; P= purpose ie: are you answering the question and is worth 30%.

Any predictions for the ENGLISH PAPER 1 composing?

    For the opinion piece?
    or,
    Short story?

Also can you adapt the personal essay to suit a short story, or is that a big 'no no' ?

    Thanks.

I'd presume you'd have to refer to both parts of the question!! Like a comparison kinda

It could be anything, but it doesn't really make a difference so don't worry about the theme.

Our teacher has us under the impression that for the 'Díospóireacht' it would suffice to just throw in your aiste with a suitable intro and conclusion? Just confirming this to be the general consensus?

Be careful not to give both sides of an argument, your marks will be halved immediately!

My History grinds teacher has his own history website and told me that the most researched topic on the website is Indian Independance from Britain. Therefore, he told me to study it inside out.

Lads I really dunno why ye think the strike and lockout is tipped. Sure it basically came up last year, just worded differently. I know it could come up two years in a row, but really is it that likely? I really do think the GAA and the Land Issue have to come up.

They might just do a constructive unionism/ killing home rule with kindness essay Q too.

My teacher who is unreal at predicting (has gotten it right every year said if you're going to do the lockout, do it through connolly as a key personality like his role in social and political reform also Land, GAA, and Feminisim

    @aoife..x

I'd say you'd be safe for Hamlet if you were to know stuff on deception, the role of women, the use of soliloquies, and character of polonius. That's what I'm doing anyway!! Anyone else have any inputs? :)
