Just watching some clips of the xfl looked rough.

Anyone get to watch it when it was on?

*resists the urge to unintentionally spoil everything by pointing out the awesomeness that happens*

They stick with just one storyline though and there aint much blah thats all ill say

A minor decision is annoying me, I was asked to come back to a football team next year, but I know I won't be playing that much as in last 20 mins, but to be honest that wouldn't bother me too much, the only problem is I am insanely injury prone and if I do get injured I'll miss work. Some of my latest injuries include, dislocated left shoulder and elbow (One tackle wasn't that bad, just fell) and a dislocated right shoulder about 6 times that has now been surgically repaired so shouldn't be too much of a worry. I love football and I miss it having never played it fully since I was about 13 (Now 22) but I would still consider myself slightly decent, bar pace, I have the acceleration of a car reversing around a roundabout. But still.. Its annoying me :D

In a similar situation. Was quite the handy hurler but had to retire from hurling, rugby and football in the last year as I have dislocated both my knees, shoulder and broke my ankle and frequently get knocks that fecked up life outside sport too. I'd seriously get at least 2 bad injuries a year so basically decided it wasn't worth risking and all I do now is gym and 5 a side. I'm pretty much that old-timer who tells everybody not to take their body for granted in a non-creepy paedo way.

    My least favourite series!

Ya, Thrones the other night was class.

    Just hope
that somehow Tyrion is not dead. I have not read the books so if you know please do not say.

Also, Cercei was brilliant the other night. Best episode that she has been in by a long distance.

The spurs forum is always good for a laugh. "Parker and Sandro are better than Lucas." I'll have whatever they're having! :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭smallerthanyou

I read all the books and started on the first few episodes of series 1 but gotta catch up with the last few and series two cos everyone talking about it. I'm glad they got Tyrion across so well in the show cos he's epic in the books as well.

I love it every August when they say "Were going to finish above Arsenal this year".

I'm a bit of a sadist so the only thread I've read on their forum was the one where they were watching the CL final and commenting. It was sad and funny all at the same time.

The absolute sadness of the soccer forum peaked during the whole Eden Hazard thing everybody suddenly became a expert on Ligue 1 and its standards despite it not being on tv at all over here....
Rodgers is the new manager, better than Martinez but not what I imagined the day that Kenny got sacked.
Anybody been watching the friendlies lately I genuinely fell asleep in front of the France vs Serbia game. Picked up the World Soccer Euro 2012 guide today, did you know Holger Badstuber has a baseball cap collection? No well now ya do

I still find it embarrassing reading posts from Irish lads talking about English clubs using terms like ''we'' ''us'' etc.

Soccer forum is good for a laugh in general though, people taking things way too seriously!

Have to say that Ireland's chances of getting something from the Italy game have been boosted due the Italians preparations being all over the place.

First, a friendly match was postponed because of an Earthquake in Parma (not John Tenta), and now there's a match fixing trial going on with Prandelli saying he would understand if they withdrew from the Euros.

That friendly match with Luxembourg on Tuesday was originally penciled in to be in Rome's Stadio Olympico which I was gonna head to, then it got switched to Parma's Stadium I think because they foreseen low ticket sales. Should have kept it in Roma.

Anyway they are playing Russia in one hour which should be an interesting game as both teams will expect to get to the latter stages of the comp.

Any good TV shows starting recently? Everything I watch seems to have finished at the exact same time. I have Fringe to watch but thats it really. Going to try Breaking Bad but otherwise I'm low on stuff to watch for the next few months.

On a completly unrelated note, Netload is fcuking awesome! So much better than Rapidshare.

What shows have you seen? I've watched pretty much all the major dramas at this stage so can hopefully point you in the right direction.

    Here are some essentials though:
    Breaking Bad
    Six Feet Under
    Oz
    Deadwood

Obviously the Wire and the Sopranos also.

I meant shows that are in their first season now. Something that is still on, but hasnt been on forever so I could catch up fairly quickly. A few of the shows I usually watch have been cancelled so my weekly viewing is getting a little low, especially coming into the summer. A fair few shows started last night, but they are all that reality TV crap.

My brother got the Wire boxset so I'll watch that when he is done. Keep meaning to get around to getting the Soprano's but always find something else and end up forgetting about it. :o

My most recent set of viewing included (in a random order as I think of them): Person of Interest, The Mentalist, Bones, Harry's Law, Modern Family, The Middle, Happy Endings and New Girl (plus Dexter, Homeland etc which finished up a while ago). They all finished up last week for the summer (bar Harry's Law which got cancelled) so my summer viewing is now: Episodes (Which isnt even that great) and anything else I can find. I'll have a look at Six Feet Under, Oz and Deadwood and see if I'll watch them.

Have you watched Touch, starring Keifer Sutherland? First season started this year. I really like it but it's gotten mixed reviews so you may wanna read some reviews before you watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,987 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

The only new show I really got into this year was American Horror Story, which is great if you'd like something a little off-beat.

Oz and Deadwood are pretty full on, they don't hold back in terms of language or showing skin in true HBO fashion!

Six Feet Under is outstanding with probably the best ending to any show I've seen.

As Charisteas said, you may enjoy Touch, I haven't gotten around to it yet.

There's also Haven which has 2 seasons so far with the 3rd starting soon. It's kinda similar to Fringe and Edge is in it too.

Worthless performance by Italy there losing 3-0 to a average Russia side. Only Balotelli with a Viscera style haircut deserved to be out there.

Long-term? Forever or on a WHV?

I'm sub 30 and there's two things that if they happen I'll leave the country but neither have come to pass to date so I'm still here.

Not to get too into politics cos that only ever ends in arguments on internet forums but one is if Sinn Fein ever achieve any kind of power in Ireland. Even if it was only the presidency. I could not share a country where the majority of people voted for them. Second personal.

It's a great little place to be that's just a bit crap at the moment but things will get better. They can't really get much worse!
