I loved GTA4 because it tried something different with it being that little bit more real. I know some people hated that and thats fair, but i wasnt too pushed.

For me, comparing it to SR2, which went the other extreme in terms of it being mindless and senseless fun, meant I just never got into GTAIV as much :/

As for RDR, I started it and ended up abandoning it when I hit the city. I could get what they were going for, but I just never quite gelled with the game :/

I HATED Mafia II with a passion I bought it full price and couldn't get past a part where you have to drive around and drop off stuff at multible locations in the map. Keep a eye out on Sleeping Dogs it was going to be released last year but Square enix have picked it up now, some good ideas in it.

    What's RDR like?

Red Dead? It's fantastic! I wrote up a review for boards a while ago on it. My mate didn't like the open areas, he just saw empty while I saw a beautiful untouched vistas unlike almost all other games we see today. The game had everything; so much so I've no idea what they'd do with a sequel.

The Saboteur looked alright, it got unanimously average-to-decent reviews, not enough for me to part with the cash. It's a lot smaller scope than GTA, like it's not a sandbox, there just wasn't a hook for me to buy it.

In other news, went into Game/GameStop/HMV, no liquidation or other sale lol.

I liked it anyways, not amazing, but still a good solid game. Well I paid like 10 quid for it a few months back, so was worth it.

Also, Max Payne 3 is out in may which should be super.

gfnrhead, are you looking for advice on games in the 3rd person genre as a whole, or 3rd person games with free roam and the GTA mission and side mission structure?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Doesn't the Saboteur have a lead character with a crap irish accent, it has a nice look though. The big mistake for me in Red Dead was that you are a cowboy and there is no real Cowboy vs Indians clash. That'd be a great concept for a sequel if a little cliched.
Watching Liverpool vs Sunderland is a real chore, about as exciting as brushing your teeth.

I loved RDR I have to say. That and Fallout 3 are my favourite games of the last few years.

I presume if you're on PS3 you have already played the Uncharted trilogy? 3 fantastic games.

I haven't played it but Infamous is supposed to be good. Its a sandbox game and you have electric powers.

I'd much rather it have some sort of free roam and non main story missions. Like Vice City or San Andreas, loads of (fun, none of this shooting 200 pigeons for 2% crap) things to keep you busy aside from the main story. Not essential, but that would be my preference.

Its a online sale only for GAME. Part of me will miss game and another won't I think if they close it'll be even harder to find a bargain cause shops will be less competitive, Mass Effect 3 apparently is worth €55, tell me another. I remember getting Red Dead and Alan Wake for €40 on their release dates FFS. I won't miss the awkward silence when I ask do they have a copy of Ghost Trick, Phoenix Wright or Okamiden in stock and the look i'd get like I was asking for a 5:1 Scale Drawing of a genuine Flux Capacitor.

I liked Mafia II. Playboy pictures instead of hidden packages (GTA), CD's (Saints row 2) etc was genius :D

Will this season just end already losing to a just plain terrible Sunderland team and making no chances continuing to playing truly awful players like Adam, Spearing, Kuyt, Henderson. Then we brought on £55m of utter garbage to try and totally fail to change it. Can't wait to see what we'll do to make it even worse in the summer, probably buy british cause that has really helped us.

Have you played the AC series yet?

Interestingly I played RDR, and totally lost interest, I gave it as much time as I could possibly put up with it and it bored me to tears. Really hated the game. It was an interesting idea and I was looking forward to it, but it just didn't work for me. Bought Max Payne 2 on the PS2 the other day in preperation for 3 :D.

Just to go off on another tangent, I am looking to get a wrestling shirt. Wondering is their anywhere in Dublin that does them cheap enough or would online be the best bet?

Anyone have a mechanical mind about them?

Driving home about an hour or so and i pressed down on my clutch to go into a low gear so i could turn onto a road. The clutch like snapped or something?
Basically my clutch pedal doesnt do anything now. When you apply force to it there is nothing.
    Can clutch cables snap?

I was going to say the cable snapped. But it could of slipped out of place. Have a look in the morning and see if there is a cable loose under the car.

Does it not go into gear at all

Nope. It stays up as normal, but putting even a slight amount of weight on it pushes it all the way down.
I feel like such a muppet, im after searching around and seen that its exactly what happened going by other stories ive found round the interwebs. The question "Can clutch cables snap?" seems so stupid now. :o

Pretty cool Batman pics Cena, never had Batman stuff myself had Turtles, Spiderman, Biker Mice from Mars and of course Wrestlers. I only still have the latter, you never know some day a collection of The Brood, a Droz, a Dr.Death and a Steve Blackman might be worth something
    ;-)

We also had Turtles but for some reason we have lost them. I think the brother has them in his house.

Put on old wrestling, like bad wrestling from the attitude era; road dogg vs bossman etc. knocks me right out! Or listening to a podcast

Milan won and Juve drew again so not a bad way to end the weekend for me, pity Liverpool have still plenty of games cause the rest of the season is utterly pointless for us. Mancini is so gone if he doesn't win the League he'll pay for having the likes of Savic & Barry around.

We dominated Meath by the look of it, 1-12 to 1-11. Pity we lost to Tipp, did Lar Corbett turn up to watch. Too busy for hurling but has the time to sell Lidl Hurleys.
