Any news on Mertesacker? Just seen it on Premier Soccer Saturday and dont see what happened to him. I assume a muscle injury?

It was unfortunate. Mertesacker told me that he got a shot in his ankle and couldn't move at all anymore. We are a bit worried about his ankle I must say because he goes home on crutches. He has done some ligament damage, but how big that is we will have to check tomorrow. For sure he is out for Wednesday. Link here

I know that he's not as fast as he used to be but his finishing is still top class. I can't think of a better player to bring on in the last 20 minutes to win a game for us when we need it like he did today and against leeds.

3 goals in 73 mins agree with you.

I think a lot of people in here could do worse than read this month's editorial in When Saturday Comes.

Can you give the gist or provide a link? I used to subscribe to it when I was a lot younger (pre-internet in fact) I would have thought there was no place for it these days with the proliferation of blogs etc.

Just saw the cross Arshavin provided for Henry's goal. Wonderful now why doesn't he do that more often ?

Just had a thought and looked back through our results so far this year. This is only the second league game all year that Arsenal scored more than once and Van Persie wasn't one of the scorers. The other was the 4-3 loss to Blackburn.

Is Henry around for the next CL game? I thought today was his last one ( maybe thats the league though )

We have to keep note of this in future. It was a freak occurance at first but it seems to happen every time now. I had forgotten all about it until just now.

I think we should look into what he was doing the day Diana died...

    Aaron Ramsey scores:
vs Man Utd - Bin Laden dies.
vs Tottenham - Steve Jobs dies.
    vs Marseille - Gaddafi dies.
vs Sunderland - Whitney Houston dies.
So the curse lives on..wonder who's next?

I do think we could win the Champions League this year. Madrid would be the only team that I'd genuinely worry about. That said, I'm sure Milan will hammer us now

5/6 the pick to qualify for the next round.

I don't think Arsenal have much chance of winning the CL but even during the worst form we had I would've said that the only teams I wouldn't give us at least a 40% chance of winning against.

We beat them last year at home, lost partly because of a stinker of a red card decision. Their away form this season has been awful, lost again last night. I think we could beat them by a couple at the emirates and get a draw out in the camp nou. I just don't think they have the same fear factor for us after the last couple of seasons.

Barca's problem is that they're playing without a striker. As a result, it's now stop messi and you stop barca. Still wouldn't be confidant about facing them though.

Is there a way Madrid and Barce can knock each other out at the same time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

    van Persie 28 (22)
    Walcott 6 (3)
    Arteta 4 (4)
    Gervinho 4 (4)
    Oxlade-Chamberlain 4 (2)
    Henry 3 (2)
    Ramsey 3 (2)

    Benayoun 3 (1)
    Vermaelen 3 (3)
    Arshavin 2 (1)
    Santos 2 (1)
    Chamakh 1 (1)
    Gibbs 1 (0)
    Koscielny 1 (1)
    Park 1 (0)
    Song 1 (1)

    (league goals in brackets)

It's nice to win a game without RvP scoring :)

Gervinho is never allowed to take a penalty for us ever. Knocked one straight over the bar in the AFCON final :/

Arsene will have to rebuild his confidence now, opposite of what we wanted!
