Not often I print stuff off,
    Rarely need to,
But in Library today on the computers,
I decided to print mine and collect it in a few minutes,
Give it time to print and all that, in case there's a queue...
Anyway, I walk in to collect my print-out,
And there is this man there looking for his pages of whatever,
I decided to courtiously wait behind him and simply skim through the print outs to find my own...
This man after about 10 seconds of waiting grew agitated as he hadn't spotted his pages instantly and began assulting the printer and crushing the pile to let people know he felt this way.
There was only me in the room bar himself,
And he looked through the pile again,
Getting rougher each time he never spotted his own.
Then every time the printer made a noise he glared at it,
Seeing if they were his sheets by picking up the first one,
And when it wasn't his, crudely threw it to one side.
Eventually he left, without his sheets,
So I decided to rummage through the wreckage to find my own.
    I found it in seconds,
    Crushed, abused and defeated.
The ability to be patient is one skill that seems to be growing rarer by the day.

For fúck sake! I had one lecture yesterday, at 5pm. So I wandered over at about 4:45. Lecturer doesn't show up until 5:15 and spends a further five minutes talking about the same thing she did in the previous lecture, and got through about four slides altogether. Complete waste of time.

Then today, sitting in the lecture hall waiting, coming up to 20 past, the majority of us said "Fúck this let's bail." so we left. Turns out the lecturer showed up at 25 past. Jesus christ, what the fúck are they getting paid for? :(

that useless shower we call academic administration are now taking 3 weeks to process grant cheques. Do they not realise that people actually require the money for rent and food

Take it up with your grant authority, it's a first come, first served approach in there re: grant cheques.

Sure it wouldn't be Boards without someone ignorant of the process/workload of an office to have a whinge about it.

he's talking about the fact that the cheque can be with SAA for up to three weeks before getting lodged. I know it's like that and why it has to (in their eyes) work like that but it doesn't make it any easier to swallow.

I missed a week of college last year due to not having the money to physically get there and all the while my cheque was sitting in UL gathering dust.

It was due to other cheques, ones which arrived before it, being processed before it.
There's only one person in SAA who processes these cheques and they have other responsibilities as well (I should point out that it's not me but I do know them).

The whole system is silly though, SAA shouldn't have to receive the cheques and pass them off to the banks but that's how most grant authorities do it - some transfer the money electronically after SAA confirm the student is registered.

Also, even if SAA could process every cheque instantly you'd still have to wait until the end of this week for all students to be registered.

It's still a fair enough bitch for the thread that's in it . . .

Have a look at this. It's the excel sheet with the information you want.

Go here if you don't want to be randomly downloading excel sheets that strangers on the internet tell you about and click on "Click to see Grant Authority maintenance cheques that have arrived and are being processed."

The fire alarm went off. Seemed to be a false alarm (hehe) so we all went back in, but it kept going for quite a while. Very annoying!

    Ah ok.

yeah I heard it when I passed by the outside of library at about 6 pm on my way to the main building.

Think it was ringing in the main building as well.

Everyone giving out about the late issuing off cheques why don't you hound them for them, also I always have mine sent to my home address for the simple reason of this time last year it took almost a month for the money to get into my a/c. My mother was near the office last week and went in and collected it off them. Get onto ye're authority's and do something like that.

You should send an email to the lecturers head of department that ought to sort their late arrivals out nothing more aggravating than non punctual lecturers who then expect you to be on time when they eventually make it in on time

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt this time. The one that came in at 25past said, and I quote: "I thought I was on at 3pm and not 2pm." :pac: Gotta love professionalism.

sounds like same module as me. some of us also had to wait for 15 minutes at the end to fill in a lab/tutorial sheet which she was passing around

    Interesting day so far...

9o'clock Biology: "If you read up more on the reproduction of spiders and leave out the word spiders, you basically get undiluted porn" -Breen

12o'clock Equine Reproduction: Random lad walks in to room late and sits down, sees that there's several pictures of mare's vaginas on the screen, looks shocked and turns bright red and mumbles something about wrong lecture and leaves. Lecturer goes "I guess he wasn't turned on by that"

Biology Lab later, wonder how that'll go...

Had a three hour German tutorial at 9am till 12am. In my last hour, after freezing everything off for the past two, my tutor decides to talk about festivals, only to begin talking about St. Patricks day.

She continued on to say that everybody in the world loves the Irish and that everyone there should be grateful they're 'not english'.

I was the only English one in the class.
I've felt thoroughly insulted all day.. :/

If she was recapping a summary of the last lecture, I'd agree. But she explained about labs and tutorials for an entire five minutes, when she'd fully explained it in the first lecture. I wouldn't have minded so much if she'd been on time, but it was 5:15 and we'd done no work, so I was a little tetchy.

Bus last night cost €1.70. What is this madness?

Also hate when you're there in the library on the computer doing your own thing and some biatch decides to plonk her handbag right on your mousemat. I wasn't gonna tell her that computer was broken anyway...

Possibly! I was at the Health Centre for the starfish lecture and it was Nick who was in charge of them in the Lab. Probably should have found that out before they gave me the starfish :pac:

    Loved Breen :(
Disgusted I'm not doing the Bio module any more now :/
"Look at the person to your left...
They would stab you in the back given the opportunity,
And it may happen in later years,
When going for a job interview..."
It was just so blunt and unexpected!
