With respect, you kind of ask for it with the "Should never happen when it comes to a Rangers player" nonsense, as if Rangers occupy some sort of moral high-ground above every other club when they clearly do not.

Every club has its consumate professionals, and every club has its nuggets - Rangers is the same as every other club in that regard no matter what pedestal you have them on in your head.

I'm with EB, we're a mess at the minute, Celtic by 2 at least but we will score at least 1.

Deadly serious - we're an absolute shambles at the minute, not disimilar to Celtic earlier in the season.

The difference is, while you were awful, you were still trying to go at teams, for some reason we are reverting to the type of football that means McCulloch gets a game.
Celtic will be fired up, we look terrified.

I think talk of Rangers getting a hiding on Wednesday is all a bit premature! Rangers were coasting last Saturday until McCulloch's early bath and the defence going to sleep for the last few minutes which proved very costly.

I've no doubt Ally has been on the phone to Walter over the xmas period looking for advice and I'm sure Walter has been very helpful! As a Celtic fan I'll be quite happy with a draw but whatever result it is Wednesday night it won't decide the league title,a lot of twists and turns lie ahead yet in this race!

I am for real PH67. Don't get me wrong I'll be quite happy if the bhoys take all 3 points Wednesday night but with the current scenario all the pressure is on Celtic to perform.

Personally I think Rangers are going to be well up for Wednesday night and Celtic will need to perform to their best to take the 3 points. Once Celtic aren't defeated Wednesday night that's the most important thing and if that means the game ending in a draw I'll gladly take the point. A long season to go yet before the trophy is handed out!

I think Celtic will win myself tomorrow.

Yer the form team at minute and I expect the atmosphere and form to see Celtic win this game.

Do you think so? I'd have said the pressure is on Rangers, they have lost a big lead in a very short space of time and the fans just aren't getting behind the team and manager like they have in previous years.

Celtic are going into the game on an 8 match winning streak and even if they lose they will be only 4 points behind on New Years Day, I'm sure when we were 15 points behind with 2 games in hand we all would have jumped at the chance to be 4 points behind on Jan 1st.

There is the expectation that Celtic will perform and we will be favorites, but I would be of the opinion that a defeat for Rangers on Wednesday would do McCoist more harm than a defeat for Celtic would do Lennon.

The Scottish media and all the so called experts up there are all going for a Celtic win purely based on the turnaround in fortunes for the 2 teams the past 6-8 weeks or so. While Celtic are on a high after 8 league wins in a row rangers on the other hand have fallen as under and let slip a potentially title winning lead.

However while all this points to a Celtic win tomorrow I'm sure Celtic are aware that their going for 9 league wins in a row tomorrow which in itself brings on added pressure. Rangers have been poor lately but I've no doubt their relishing this game tomorrow night to prove the critics wrong. Personally I expect a dour game tomorrow night with hopefully Celtic sneaking a 1 goal win but once Celtic don't lose that's the main thing.

As for McCoist while if rangers do get a draw or pull off a win tomorrow night while it will be a morale booster I've no doubt that he's worried about the current financial situation of the club. With the January transfer window just around the corner I'd be surprised if they don't lose 1 or 2 big names and that for me could prove to be their downfall in the long run,not tomorrow night's game IMO.

And I agree with you PM on if it was the case that Celtic were 4 points behind going into the new year personally I would have taken that situation considering our position 2 months ago!

Anyone coming over for it? Gales are forecast, so hopefully there's no problem with flights or ferries.
The usual pre-match nerves are starting to kick in here :D

Gladly take a draw. A one point lead is still a lead in the title race. Could go on a winning run easily and then win the OF game at Ibrox.

I doubt we will take anything from this game but I will say the race for the title will still be wide open and both teams will drop points in the run in there's still a long long way to go

Preview of tonights Old Firm game on Talksport next.

Tonight's game is going to be the usual type of Glasgow derby in that the form book means nothing and goes completely out the window.

    3 outcomes tonight:

    1. Celtic lose:
Celtic's worst case scenario tonight is to lose the game and with it some of the momentum we've built up over the last 2 months. However, if we lose tonight the last two months will still have seen us pull back the deifict from 15 to just 4, that is a superb turnaround and a testament to Neil Lennon and his team.

So if we do lose then it's not the end of the world because just around the corner lurks the transfer window and Rangers look like they're going to have to sell to keep the show on the road and are almost certain to be weaker after the window.

    2. Celtic draw:
If we draw tonight then we go into the New Year only a point behind. An amazing turnaround in the previous two months and it heaps a lot of pressure on Rangers and might even dictate how they behave in the transfer window. Rangers are blooding and playing quite a few young lads, it's a lot to ask these fella to play well and come through successfully if their team falls behind Celtic.

    3. Celtic win:
A win tonight from Celtic sees us going two points up and ensure that Rangers are going to have to dig deep to retain their championship. If Rangers go into the transfer window two points behind us then how will the fans react to Whyte if he has to sell some of his better players? Jelavic out and Boyd in mightn't actually work out to be a bad bit of business for Rangers (if it happens of course) but if other players are forced out the door and not replaced then the Rangers fans might start to revolt if they drop further points behind Celtic during the window.

This could be a defining moment for Whyte's stewardship of the club, if he is seen to be asset stripping when the team isn't winning then there could be big trouble ahead for him.

I'm not just saying this but I see all the pressure being on Rangers and none on us.

I'm not just saying this but I see all the pressure being on Rangers and none on us.

1 We were never really 15 points in front Bobby Celtic had two games in hand and most Rangers fans looked at it more as 9 points

I would tend to agree the pressure is on Rangers but selling Jelavic may be know bad thing as to be frank he has been far from his best this last thre months I believe in his head he is already somewhere else
Now I really don't know where these ideas are coming from that Whyte is going to asset stri the club so I can't comment on that
Overall for me I expected it to be this close at some point as there was no way Celtic could keep dropping points the way they were now it's our turn to drop them

Whatever the outcome tonight I think there will be a lot more twists and turns before the destination of the title is decided. I am never confident going into these games and can't see anything other than a Tic win so if we get a draw I will be a happy man
As far as how Ally sets up the team tonight he can't afford to sit in and defend for 90 minutes that would be suicide

Off the park I really hope both sets of fans keep a cool head as Strathclydes finest will be out to make a point with this new law
So to sum up to anyone going tonight stay safe

celtic are behind in the title race. Of course there is pressure on them. It is delusion to think otherwise.
