Do you guys think Celtic are actually that good? I think we've seen a total twist in what was happening earlier in the season, both teams are dire but Celtic are confident and grinding out results now which is what we were doing for the first while.

Certainly better than a couple of months ago, I think Celtic to their credit are more than just grinding out results right now - I think they are playing pretty well overall in fairness. Still dodgy at the back due to a combination of injuries and Lennon still not having found a settled centre-back pairing, and that's my big concern for Wednesday. We can be scored against with too much ease either home or away at the moment, and I fully expect we'll not keep a clean sheet v Rangers.

It's all about scoring more though, and so long as we have strikers in good form and midfielders who are largely controlling games, which I think we do at the moment, then that's all we can ask for.

Put it this way - if we conceded a goal two months ago v Rangers, I'd have thought there's little chance of coming back into it. Now I'm more confident that even a goal down we could come back and win.

Nothing desperate about it funny when Tic fans do thI'd it's all banter and good points but when we do it it's desperation this place is truly amazing at times people trying to get other people into trouble by reporting them though the person did apologise so I have some respect for him for that

Who reported who? You've lost me.

Must say the Rangers thread is the last place I'd be if Celtic had just thrown away a pile of points in the last few weeks. You must be a sadist BBE! :pac:
    You mean Machochist Paul
I was reported by a Celtic fan on here because he believed he had been reported by a Rangers fan and he wanted to get one of us back I pointed out it may have been a mod that had taken the action He did apologise saying he should not have done it but it's getting silly if that's the route we go down oh it wasn't Lubo
Yer damn fkn tooting it wasn't Lubo

    Oh Dear...:o

Didn't see the game last week but we should have beaten them in Paradise and Rennes away, unlucky not to get a result against A Madrid at home too.

Thought we were unlucky to qualify in the toughest group in the whole competition tbh! **** it though, the league is what matters, can't wait for Wednesday now!

Dire first half today but we did enough in the second half in particular to deserve the win. What a bonus with the St Mirren result too. Football on christmas eve isn't such a bad idea after all:D

The league table will show us that at the end of the season if that is true.

Well for a start, Udinese are neither the top team in Italy in the league table or on paper.

Udinese were actually joint top of Serie A (with Juventus) on 30 points when Celtic played them. Looks like Celtic gave them such a fright that they have dropped 4 points since!

Listen mate, if you honestly think we SHOULD have beaten Udinese away, then sorry but im not sure what match you watched. yes it was a very good performance and we could have perhaps won it but let's not get carried away. And as for them being the top team in Italy?? By that logic rangers are currently the top team in Scotland

Celtic used Jelavic's boast about rangers big lead over Celtic to motivate them to catch up to rangers again, link; www.scotsman.com/sport/football/european/brown_reveals_jelavic_remarks_about_rangers_12_point_cushion_fired_us_up_1_2024897

I was surprised at Jelavic making a comment like that even if the media and even a lot of Celtic supporters like myself thought that rangers had the league won. Soccer players in general though seem to be very loose with the lips when talking to the media!

It was always going to motivate them, see Samaras and Commons the last 2 seasons for examples!

What I will say is Jelavic never actually said the league is over, he said a 12 point cushion should be enough but we still have to keep playing like we were and winning. If anything the media has turned it into a sensational headline and motivated them more.

I guess it's a change from Samaras opening his mouth to spout crap, and thus motivating Rangers ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Is that true or a mind game from Scott Brown? If he was highlighting Jelavic's comments then would we had Kayal mouthing off in the papers just as turned the corner? I think not and it was used then Brown himself would know not to mouth off in the paper and give ammunition to the opposition.

Should have shut his mouth. Its one thing fans saying it, players saying it is not sensible. Should never happen when it comes to a Rangers player.

Happens with every team though, questions are asked, they answer them and all of a sudden its back page news.

I was on facebook there and I saw this story on a fans page about Wayne Bridge coming to Celtic on loan in the new year? I would be sceptical about how true this is but it's worth posting all the same, link; www.rowzfootball.com/wayne-bridge-moving-to-celtic-on-loan.html

No thanks, he turned us down when we needed him, now Izzy is back Bridge can continue rotting away in obscurity in Manchester with all his money until he retires and is remembered only as the guy whose girlfriend cheated with John Terry.

Arsene Wenger is supposedly interested in him.

Think Bridge was linked with Celtic previously as well, will be big wages.

I agree. Bridge had his chance to come to Celtic, we don't need him now that Izzy's back and he wouldn't be worth the outlay in wages. Its not like he has a big profile or anything.

Mancini said he was surprised that Bridge didn't come to "an important" club like Celtic - his words - when he had the chance, instead of sitting on his ass in the Man City reserves. There's better ways of spending our money.
