That Espgaluda II HD release is an absolute shafting from Cave.
    1. It's for iPad 2 only. Ridiculous.
    2. It's $13.99... or $6.99 per version.
    3. Somewhere down the line they'll start charging for in-game DLC, like they did with Deathsmiles iOS.
    4. It should have been a free upgrade. Why do you have to buy it twice?

I'll stick with the SD version on my iPad 1 and the XBOX 360 version thanks. :)

Yeah, 10.99 euro is asking a bit for it all right(I still paid it though :o)

I'll hack the .ipa file later and try it on my iPad 1 and see how it runs on that.

I own neither an iPad or iPhone! My lowly old iPod Touch is incapable of the processor heavy Cave games, and it will be quite sometime before I can afford an upgrade of any devices. Although I believe Cave are coming to Android too!

However, I make no qualms about my Mac ownership. It's not my fault Apple make the video editing software I've been trained in!

Surely Apple products are too mainstream for hipsters?

No, not if you use the Apple Newton.

I still have my 5GB first generation iPod. I'd be a total hipster if I still used that.

The odd thing about it is that it can actually sync much faster than any of the modern ipods as it uses Firewire instead of USB.

Just wondering what other people think of Sonic CD. I hear a lot that it's the best 16-bit Sonic game. I think it's the worst and worse than the 8-bit ones as well. It's not a bad game but I feel despite the massive levels, and it's definitely the biggest Sonic game yet, there's no personality to them and they all get repetitive quickly.

Also had a go at Sonic Generations. I think they took the criticisms against previous games too seriously. Deadly pitfalls that aren't signposted are just bad game design. So the developers decided to literally put signposts before they appeared.

I hope some one from Sega is listening, here's how the old Sonic games went. Deathly Pitfalls are only in places when the game slows down, barring one or two occasions of bad level design. During the fast sections, missing an unsignposted jump meant you missed a new route through the level instead of losing a life. It added replayability and a huge sense of reward when you found these new routes.

No, looks like the captains log to me as well!

No wonder he is catching such awesome air over it, it's a good motivational tool to ensure better jumping performance!

Always wondered why everything uses usb now, besides video camera and stuff. Firewire is much faster isnt it?

I always found the syncing system that apple products use to be really stupid and counter intuitive. Every other device, be it USB or firewire just works when you plug it in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,798 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Well I dont use any apple products.

Think I'm alright for substandard hardware with a shiny skin on them.

I think even the most hardened Apple fan will complain about syncing or simple things like the lack of multiple account options or bastard DRM.

Luckily, at least the former can be easily turned off to make an iPod much more like a drag-and-drop hard-drive ;)

Although while Android certainly has benefits (open source!!!), I can't imagine anyone can deny iOS has easily the most cleverly constructed UI and software of anything mobile at the moment. That shiny skin is really, really shiny.

I really dont. Anytime I have to use my fathers iPhone I want to throw it off the wall. I find it a cnut to figure out simple things and hate having to go all over the place to change simple settings. I find it really sluggish too. Its like every animation is slowed down to make it seem smoother :/

I was an android user who has recently switched over to iphone, and have to say I much prefer it. The range of applications makes or breaks a smartphone and I find iOS to suit me better. The main problem I had/have with Android is the lack of standardisation across the hardware. If I download an application I want to know it'll work as well as possible, and I never really found that with my (admittedly sub-par) Android device. Seems that microsoft are aware of that with WP7 and are strict about the feature-set (both in terms of upper and lower bounds) of the devices that run it.

Feckin smartphones, its the one aspect of modern tech I've no interest in. Just give me something that makes calls & texts & I don't have to recharge four times a day & I'm happy.

I like WP7 phones, all those lovely tiles. Had an omnia and I smashed it, had a galaxy and I got rid and now I have an iPhone.

Omnia was the best, then iPhone and finally Galaxy.

Want a xperia play now though.

90% of the applications I've downloaded are bullet-hell shooters. That alone justifies it for me :) The leaderboard aspect of Game Center is great in particular.

Same here, no interest in them either. Would like and itouch or android device but only for the games.

I keep hearing of horror stories about new phones with crap antennas, that break after 3 months, have ****ty contracts attached and battery lives that don't last for even a day.

I've got myself a crappy hand me down nokia that sends texts and makes phone calls. It hasn't broken yet and has a battery life that last almost 2 weeks on a charge and it must be at least 5 years old by now.

I had to get a new phone there recently, I like high-end dumb phones, but its almost all touch screen now which is another pet peev of mine. The C3-01 has a mixture of touch & buttons, & is a very highly rated dumb phone (calls & texts)

I agree, syncing on an apple device sucks ass. It's getting much better but is still a ways off from where it should be.

I'm no apple fanboy at all to be honest although I own a fair bit of apple gear. I always look to see what's the absolute best device on the market in each category I need or want a device in. I travel a lot so what's the best laptop for my needs? For years it was sub laptops and their ilk. Then more recently I moved to a Macbook Air and then dumped all laptops for an iPad and then iPad 2 with various addons and attachments. It just works best for me and i love the thing. It has some limitations of course as do most devices. As someone who has pretty much every table thats come to market and a few dodgy chinese ones the iPad gets my vote at the moment, not because its apple, because it works and a quick download can turn it into nearly anything you want.

When people slag of the iPhone or iPad it doesn't bother me at all. I've seen it a million times with friends, colleagues and family. They give out about a device or even just the brand because that seems to be the thing to do. Then eventually you see then with an iPhone or iPad and they are raving about how great it is.

In the end it really doesn't matter one little bit, just get the device that works best for you. But don't be a grumpy elitist anti-apple/android/wp7 humanoid, you just look silly :pac:

I like me Xperia Play me
The phones not as slick as my old Iphone, and has the odd lockup and hickup , but thats probably down to the amount of sh!te I have installed on it.
Been a load of €0.10 games on sale on the android market this week
Raging thunder was probably the best of them so far though
    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.polarbit.ragingthunder&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnBvbGFyYml0LnJhZ2luZ3RodW5kZXIiXQ..
even if its donkeys years old ,it plays like a decent PSX era Racer

I really can't justify or afford the latest iphone or android device. I just think of allthe retro games I could buy if I ever had that money. Then it makes me sick when I'm in the dole queue and there's a scobe with two kids collecting her dole and messing around on an iphone 4s.

Playing games on your phone is a great idea, until you realise you have to charge your phone 3 times a day :(
So, use a DS lite instead, gods own portable emu platform of choice, tons of emu's and no one is trying to get you to pay and the battery lasts ages.

I'll give you your Jesus Day pressie early Retr0!

I was flicking through my Xbox launch issue of Edge while busy on the throne when I came across (no sniggering down the back) the review of Halo, 10/10, fair enough I thinks to meself...

Then I see the review of GTAIII, probably the game that set the trend for single player gaming, in the west at least, for the rest of the decade and they gave it.... 7/10!!!!

    What a bunch of douches!

Unbelievable, and they marked it down because of the hand to hand combat, which while it was a pain in the privates, wasn't really the beating heart of the game.

I wonder if the folks up in DMA/Rockstar North have been pissing into the Edge visitor coffees ever since?

    Talk about getting it wrong.

Happy Jesus Day Retr0, and gods bless us, everyone!

The best was in the following issue they said it was a typo and gave it 8/10, despite a very lukewarm review :) Cover ass much?

Still only as good as overblood :P
