you sound like you're a great person to get advice from...if you want to fail the module.

get a mysql account on skynet and make a dummy table and start writing queries on phpmyadmin.
I actually am a great person to get advice from. Have you taken this module as a matter of curiosity?

    I haven't failed it.

    I haven't failed it.

Not really the question asked now was it?
get a mysql account on skynet and make a dummy table and start writing queries on phpmyadmin.

Unfortunately not a member of skynet, so not exactly an option for this weekend.

Handy information for the repeat though. :pac:

You're doing CS and you're not a member of skynet? Fierce scabby you must.

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

    1. Given an Entity Relationship model, design and specify the tables for a database.

    2. Given an E-R model and a problem description, analyse the problem and amend the E-R model accordingly.

    3. Write the SQL statements to create database tables, complete with appropriate existential and referential integrity constraints.

    4. Write and execute SQL statements for simple queries, statistical queries, join queries, simple, complex and correlated sub-queries.

    5. Using simple notations, specify equivalent queries in Relational algebra and Relational calculus.

    6. Specify database tables and constraints using the Z notation.

Yeah I've done this module. It's databases 101

I hate this stigma about repeats, it's only failing an exam you like! You pick yourself up, dust yourself off and give it another go.

It's people who sh*te on about repeats that freak people out at exam time!

You haven't done this module. You're pulling at straws. Stop trying to know me. You do not.

If you understood the labs and remember the syntax, you'll be fine.

    Pointless comment.

It's got nothing to do with money.

They why don't you have an account? You could talk on irc instead of boards!

Still..... I don't like failure. And the month and a half I know it'll take me to pick myself up if I do fail a few of these modules is something I could do without.

    but, my own fault entirely.

    So, ONWARD TO DEFEAT VICTORY!!!!!

You'd learn the sql you need to know in about an hour.

Meh. Never saw it as a necessity. Have only started hearing about some of the more useful features in the past two weeks. i.e. the mysql thing, and being able to run code from it. So will probably join next semester.

He's actively trying to infer people's characters from posts here. It's shamefully sad to watch.

Glad to know you're so confident in my abilities Sid. Appreciate it. :)

Oh Sidious you silly fellow. As soon as the words "you sound like a great person to get advice from", you had already created this notion in your noggin as to who I am and what I am capable of. Your love of argument is only matched by your love of backpedalling. Pedal harder son, pedal harder.

It was based on the information you gave in that post. You said you failed the module, yet you were giving advice on it. Perhaps from doing it twice you've come some what of an expert but it doesn't really instil much confidence.

And proud of it, to be honest. Can't believe you forgot about me, Sid, with your accusations of backseat modding etc.......

Actually it does. You see, he's done the module and failed, and so he knows the pitfalls not to fall into. Perfect to give advice to a bright eyed secondie like me. :pac:

My pitfall having been completely mixing up which was SQL and which was Relational Alegebra or Calculus :p Get it right the first time!
