Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Wouldn't it be just dandy if boards.ie let all users get a Christmas hat on their avatars for free?

    I think that it would be a spiffing idea and it would make me like boards even more than I do already.

    What have i got to do to get the background transparent in the avatar?

    I already made a gif and png with transparent backgrounds but it doesnt seem to work. Oh woe is me. :(

    the one being used right now [avatar170178_7.gif] is not of a transparent background,so guessing the .png has gone the same way as well.

    what program is being used?

    GIMP is the handiest and no way no as processor intensive as photoshop is.

    Just used photoshop.
    Save for web>PNG/GIF>transparent background>save.

    Its showing up with the see through background when i preview the image. Hmmm.

    Slightly OT but in line with a comment made on this thread - wouldn't it be great if Boards ran a Christmas competition with free subscriptions as prizes. I get a free one and an Overhead avatar for thinking of it, as unfortunately in these recessionary days days Santa always has to come before me. Story of my sex life. :D
