Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Survey: after-hours parcels delivery

    Hi guys,

    Recently my employer moved office and now we're not permitted to receive private mail to the company's address. I use Amazon and Ebay quite often, therefore was forced to get things delivered to my home address, where no one can collect delivered parcels and packets. After several early morning occurrences of going to the post office before work with my "Sorry, we've missed you" notification of attempted delivery, I decided to find, how others are dealing with situation like this.

    it'll be great if you could reply to my survey and suggest your "work-around" in this thread.

    The delivery office is 600 metres away from me, that's how I handle it.

    One of the newsagent chains was planning to offer a deliver-to-the-newsagents service some years ago but I heard no more of it. With some form of pre-registration so they have records of photo ID in advance, this could work well.

    I can see why they didn't, it'd be a lot of hassle - having to store the goods, organise them, take them in and hand them out. Disputes about damage, loss and so on.

    So did you miss the two links above?

    The store wouldn't have to do any of this, just provide a space for the automated lockers described above.

    Personally I think these lockers sound like a fantastic idea, you could put them in apartment buildings and office buildings too.

    As people shop more and more online, this becomes increasingly handy.

    Well I didn't make that association because all the packstation images on the wiki show the units outside on the street.

    A news agents close to me has GLS Parcel shop, I can't see it being to difficult for them to do the reverse if they are asked and could be bothered.
