Newspapers should stick to reporting events that have actually happened rather than making stuff up. Similarly they often show 'documentaries' on the History Channel about things that are going to happen in the future, like when the world runs out of oil or when the sun stops radiating heat. There's enough bad things actually happening in the world without this kind of scaremongering nonsense.

The Daily Mail paper and website is superb.....

For nature photos or maybe photos of caves or mountains or other amazing and beautiful places. They have stunning photos on their website most days
    That's it realy

If you go to the website and pick an article, any article you'll see people get riled up and angry over the headline and go straight to the comment section.
The article might be good and well written but the headline is outrageous and people don't even read the articles, just the headlines before they comment

no you dont , you take the threat out , this is EXACTLY what they are doing in northern Pakistan , i think you a mixing dealing with terrorist/insurgents and waging war - in truth not a lot can be done about the former , my point was about nation waging large scale war - is that not what the thread was about ?

large scale wars have been using less ground based troops since 1900's ww1/ww2/korea/vietnam/first gulf war/ second gulf war / Afghanistan

the better the Ariel technology gets the less troops needed on the ground
    history proves this

if the Americans had poor air power in iraq they would have needed 10 times the ground troops to finish the job- as with earlier conflicts

Yes, now even better at removing stubborn brown stains from the map :D

 Sick article overselling what could happen if war breaks out in Europe.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2054913/Europe-war-2018-As-Angela-Merkel-says-euro-meltdown-spark-battle.html

Particularly disgusted with the 15 deaths in Dublin in August 2012,sick bastards.

I didn't read it in the paper, I seen it on Google News, and no I don't read the Mail as it is a fcuking gutter rag as seen in this pisstake of an article.

The article is a very good, FICTITIOUS article by Britain's best newspaper which gives a very eye-opening account of what Europe would be like if war broke out.

And it wasn't the Daily Mail which is predicting war in Europe - it is the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

And there is nothing sick in its mention of some deaths in Dublin. If the Irish think their country would be completely left alone and unscathed in the event of a European war then they'd better think again.

I'm sorry but I have disagree on the grounds that a paper is supposed to print FACTS not fiction... The view is completely his and his imagination, and therefore open to criticism. As regarding this rag being Britains best newspaper, well again that is a matter of opinion.

Agreed. That newspaper is useless, especially as it's no where NEAR as absorbent as toilet paper, but then it's already laden with sh1t!!!!

The Daily Mail website is on course to overtake that of the New York Times as the world's most-read newspaper website.

I love reading the Daily Mail because of its many interesting and thought-provoking articles such as the one about what a European war in the not-too-distant future might be like.

It's certainly better than left-wing newspapers like The Daily Mirror, which only has articles which slag off men and anybody who has the audacity to vote for anybody other than the Labour Party.

    Who says so?

If a newspaper wants to print a thought-provoking headline about what a future European war might be like then it should be able to do. Me and the millions of other people around the world who read the Daily Mail love reading stuff like that. In fact, the Daily Mail always has a double spread about half-way in with a special article on the left hand page and a special article on the right hand page and these articles are usually interesting and thought-provoking. One of the best was the article a couple of years ago about what the world would be like if all humans suddenly disappeared. Again, that was another great thought-provoking article.
The view is completely his and his imagination, and therefore open to criticism.

So? Britain is a democracy and such criticism should be allowed.

Well, it's my opinion that the Daily Mail is Britain's best newspaper. The Daily Mail also vies with The Sun in being the most-read British newspaper, so it's also the opinion of many more (the left-wing bible The Guardian is way down in 10th position):

No, it's the truth. It's called "looking at reality".

There's no reason to believe that as a huge war engulfs Europe, leaving many countries in ruins and thousands of citizens dead, that little old Ireland will be left completely untouched and unscathed with its people giving each other a cheery "Top o' the mornin' to ya" and wondering what on Earth all those pictures of dead bodies are doing on the evening news.

Outside of China Bud Light is the best selling beer in the world.
    It's piss.
Best selling does not equal best...... or even quality.

You are familiar with Ireland beyond its portrayal in cartoons, right?

If people thought the newspaper was crap they wouldn't buy it.

The newspaper must be good enough to get more sales than any other British newspaper other than The Sun.

If it was crap, like The Guardian, it would be way down the list - like The Guardian.

Look, this is what you like to read, fair enough...

I personally don't, that was all I said when I disagreed with you... Nothing else. Personally I like to read about news, ie what is happening in the world, not what will happen. If you read an earlier post I wrote in this thread, I specified that I thought, what he had wrote up until Aug 2012, was a possiblity, but after that it was absolute hypothetical nonsense, and I stand by that.

What I said was the paper being Britains best was a matter of opinion and it is! Also being the best paper and the best selling paper are two different things. What I took issue with was this:

This statement is absolute rubbish, because his story was IMAGINARY!

Hence you were starting off on a tangent to begin with, which is why these type of articles are rubbish!!!

This thread should be closed. In future, if someone has an interesting article from the Daily Mail, could they please host it themselves so the thread can actually be about the article not the newspaper.

Would I be right in assuming you think the Daily Mail post thought-provoking articles? The examples you cite though seem like they really shouldn't be appearing in a newspaper: what would happen in the world if ALL THE HUMANS DISAPPEARED. Thought-provoking or not.

The Guardian, whilst having a left-leaning element to the main part of the newspaper (I wouldn't necessarily say that this would apply to, say, the business section) also have some right-wing commentators. They also tend not to pander to national stereotypes, which I appreciate in any newspaper that isn't a tabloid.
