    Ohh i hope your right!!

may be completely wrong here, gonna have a wild guess, but maybe each group may be regionalised ... from the names on the list, anyone who got a callback seems to be from the west/southwest ...

as I said, all just a guess ...

re: the intake, we were told 2 classes of 25, definitely, and a 3rd of 15-25 or so (they weren't sure), to be taken in at different times over say a month ...

Is that for definite though? I know they told someone that but they told me they were taking all on together.

they said that at the assesment ... they told me there'd be 3 intakes at the interview then..

Oh that would actually suit me even better, I have holidays booked for the first week in November so I'd hate to have to either cancel that or miss a few days so early on. I'm sure the first few months would be information overload so missing a few days wouldn't be advised and I'd say they wouldn't be too impressed either. Totally forgot to mention it at the interview!!

    Hi guys,

new to this forum, though i've been checking regularly to see all your posts!

Looks like a few of us are in the same boat now, chewing off our nails in anticipation.

I've gotta say I'm not feeling too hopeful at the mo, but until I get the call, there is no guarantee either way. I would have thought that they would call the people who have the job first, just for the reason that they will be starting soon, and there will be no rush to inform the ones who dont get it.

Congratulations to the ones who have got the job, commiserations to the ones who haven't and fingers crossed for the ones who are still waiting!!!

BTW, does anyone know for certain about the amount of apprenticeships available (ie, the groups of 25), and exactly over what period of time they would be starting (ie, within a month, within 6 months)???

they told me at the interview that there would be approx 6 weeks between each bunch being called but that they were still uncertain as to how it was going to pan out as its their first time to do it

fingers crossed we hear something today would be a nice start to the weekend or ruin my 2 days off lol

Well, thats good news. Also the fact that no-one else seems to have heard anything today is probably a sign that not much is being done.

I'm not surprised they said they're not sure how it will pan out. The whole process seems to have been a bit 'make-it-up-as-we-go-along', but then I can see that it's quite a mammoth task offering 50+ jobs, and organising it all.

I just really hope that they pick the right people for the job.

Exactly and i know some people where before me and im stretching into my 3rd week now and was told 2 weeks!! Well hopefully monday its all sorted!

Had mine on the 13th. she said that interviews were ongoing for further 2 weeks, so to expect a phonecall 2 to 3 weeks time. So hope is not lost yet, but looking a bit less likely now seeing as others have already been told they got it.

Would be good to know roughly how long was spent on the phone with those who got it. Might be able to get some kind of guess as to how many find out in a day.

They may allocate a certain amount of time between phonecalls. who knows?? but they could do 50 calls in an hour, or they may allow half an hour per person which may include 10 mins on the phone, then 20 mins doing paperwork for them, or something. Also, it may be that they only do the calls in the morning to allow the guys in HR their 'normal' duties in the afternoon.

This whole thing is melting me down right now. Think I'll go to the pub now, and stay all weekend. Next week could be either a very happy one, or a very depressed one........

I'm 2.5 weeks and they did say 2-3 weeks, anyway would not worry either ways it should all happen early next week at this stage.

I did notice the trend from the guys that said they got the call that 2 were from Galway, 1 from Carlow and 1 from Cork/Kerry there are 2 more there that did not say where they were from.

This could mean that they are approaching the guys from further distances who will have to travel or move for the training first before contacting people who are closer such as Dublin and surrounding counties for the Dublin training. :)

    heard nothing today meself

i was told they are taking on 3 groups of people

25 mid oct (which seems to have happened yesterday)

    25 end nov

    15-25 start of next year

but who knows, how often have they changed their minds since this whole thing started in july:o

edit: was also told we would defo hear good or bad news by the end of sep start of oct,

if its bad news try to remember to ask for feedback as in to why you were not selected

id be fairly pissed off if they thought it was because i may not be commited to the apprenticship

    any ways good luk all

Thats useful information, how did you find out this?

They obviously have the fist lot of people chosen so but there is still two more batches of people to go so there is still a good chance for everyone regardless of how long you have being waiting for a call!!

dont take it as gospel as we have seen them change their minds when it comes to making decisions:rolleyes:

Did you give the impression in the interview that you wanted to go back to college? What made you get that impression?

But are you not a qualified electrician? Surely they would be right in assuming that if/when the economy picks up you f*** off and start wiring overpriced houses again?
    Ps. I'm in

    Same as.....!

In fairness though, they really pressed me for an answer when they asked what else I was planning on doing at the minute. I said at first that 'for want of a better way of putting it, I have all my eggs in this basket for the time being as it is the only thing I am truly interested in doing'. Which I thought was what they wanted to hear, and to be honest it is the truth. However, they asked:

What would I do if I didn't get it?

Would I consider a return to my old job?

Would I think about going back to college?

What would I ultimately see myself doing?

And a few other similar questions.

I honestly can't see from my answers to those questions how they would think I wouldn't be committed. I did my interview on the 12th and they said I would hear within 3 weeks at the latest, it will be 3 weeks on Monday so fingers crossed.

For those of us that don't get it, one thing I can say is that any other recruitment process will be a breeze compared to this..... I hope!!

i finished my eng degree in collage last year+ im an electrician

the feeling i was getting was that i might be bored with the work which i rubbished straight away by saying iv always been committed to anything iv started

"over qualified" springs to mind which is a load of bollox:mad:

edit: one thing i did make clear is that i wanted to "progress" within the company and this would be a great opportunity to do so
