I don't really mind the block moving ability, though they do destroy forests taking the blocks out of trees which is annoying. Failure of a mob really.

I don't find them scary, mainly because they are weak as kittens.

Even with my ham handed console reared mouse skill causing me to miss everything, they are still too bloody easy to kill.

If you were a purist or had OCD, I can see how Endermen would drive you nuts stealing blocks here and there like griefers.

But that's what creative mode is for. Next update should be to add lightning to the weather code, which sets blocks on fire (and burns down forests where that happens). Nobody will be building wooden houses then :D (Edit: Wait, it does, I've just never seen it)

I only got the chance to generate a 1.8 world last night. I really like it, much more variability in the terrain and block placement. Built a small shelter just beside an enormous canyon which looks like it has days of exploring potential in it.

I also managed to spy some endermen transporting in, stealing blocks and transporting out again. Cool.

I hate them. Its not just the fact that they make floating trees and rape player structures; they also love poking holes in defensive cordons to infiltrate skellies and creepers into safe areas to rape people

They are pretty cool mobs in combat though due to teleport spam. I think they should do less damage but have a crit chance on you, and should have reams more health. Then revert the changes to their appearance and stop them stealing player-placed blocks and they'd be good mobs again.

Um... lightning's been in the game for yonks, and DOES set flammables on fire but the accompanying rain puts it out fast. Besides... *cough*wooden slabs*cough* ;):p

Doesn't anyone else see the stealing of blocks as a good thing? It's part of the challenge of dealing with them and part of the need to have proper defences and lighting so they won't spawn near you.

The only way to stop it is to have every explored part of the map well lit in a 64-block radius of ANY kind of player traffic ever. Or do the same using ugly big-ass moats and pray they don't punch a hole in the far wall before dying. Both are logistical nightmares.

Whats the point in the shelter if its not gonna work?

Indeed, I prefer it that way as otherwise it's too easy once your structure is up, there's no challenge/risk from anything really.

The way I've handled them so far though is by building a 'motte and bailey' type structure in the middle of a lake. Any that manage to make it through the water to me end up stealing bits of the 'mound' and don't reach the 'keep' part.
