Called sky 30 mins ago to genuinely cancel one of our multiroom subs (we have 3). Was asked reason for this, price or not watched, said price & he offered me all 3 extra boxes for 15e pm for year which I accepted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 456 ✭✭brian_gall85

Is it not €15 for multiroom regardless of the number of boxes now anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭purpleblaa

It's e15 for each box outside of the main one.

I still have the old style box (no sky plus) - am I the only one still with these?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 255 ✭✭Kerry Gooner

No, I still have an old sky box as well.
Using it as a second box with a UK card allowing all free to air channels but not Irish channels unfortunately.

Sky have now informed me that i can have a HD Box for 30 euro. Should i cut my losses and take it or what are the chances of me getting it for free if i tell them i want to cancel.

If you tell them you want to cancel while in contract they will charge you for the privilege

Been following this thread and decided i'd give it a try when our first 12 months was up. We had entertainment and knowledge pack for €25 + €15 for the HD pack. I've been thinking HD wasn't really worth €15 p/m as we don't have movies/sports so rang to cancel HD (and see what offer I'd get!). Straight away was offered HD pack for half price for 12 months. Also turns out that since Sep 1 we have all channels included in our pack bar movies/sports, so Lifestyle/Kids/Music etc are all in the basic pack. So compared to last month we have more HD channels for half the price, result! :D

I rang Sky today to "cancel" the movies part of my subscription, which is something I've done several times before and they always offered me the movie channels for half price for 6 months if I kept it.
However, today they didn't offer me any sort of discount, so I said go ahead and cancel the movies, which I was informed would be knocked off in 30 days (that's the notice period). My subsciption cost will drop from €59.00 per month to €31.00 per month.
Maybe they think I'll buckle before the notice period is up and change my mind!

Frankly, I was a bit pissed off that they didn't offer me a discount, and having been thinking about it, I think I'll ring and cancel everything and get myself a combi Saorview/Freesat box.
If I'm offered a decent deal I might keep Sky, but nearly €60.00 per month is too much for the limited amount of TV I watch.

I just have the standard box and have been a customer for about 10 years.

Just rang and have been offered a Sky Plus HD box and installation for free if I stay...

    Am tempted.

nice 1,did they offer you anything off the price your currently paying for the package your on or was it just the box offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭glic83

just rang myself to cancel they offered me 25% off for the next 12 months told them i wasnt interested in being tied into another 12 month contract so my a/c will be finished 31 days from now,if they had offered me 1/2 price for 6 months then i might have stayed but they didnt so ill be up a few quid each month now

Exactly what I was offered. When I went back to Sky just over a year ago, It was on the promise of 1/2 price for 12 months, which I couldn't turn down. That deal ran out last month, so I rang up the other day to cancel. If they'd continued the same deal that I had, I'd have continued but I was told it wasn't possible. Therefore I cancelled, and I was told that I would have my channels until the end of the month and that there was a ''note'' left on my account and to ring up if I changed my mind about the offer. At least I'll be nearly €60 better off each month.

Mothers dish is hanging off the wall and rang sky to get them to come out and sort it,they said they would send out an engineer and it would cost E100 so I said she is 81 and cant afford that type of money but they wouldnt budge so I said can you put me through to the cancellation section.
when I got through to them I said I want to cancel and she said why which I explained so now they have offered her a new dish and a HD box for free if she stays with them for another year.:D

christmas is coming which i think is their biggest season for subscriptions so they wont give much offers for cancellation threats as they know they will make it up with new subs...

hmmm 25% is still pretty decent offer IMO. I currently have half price hd (€6.50 I think) and pay for Sports. Think it time to give 'em a bell. I'd be happy with a another 25% off. Thanks for the thread.

it is on the face of it I suppose, but when you see their profit increased 32% so far this year well, let's just say I don't feel like giving them anymore.

25% off for 12 months but only on the package.... He wasn't willing to give anything off HD or Multi-room unfortunately sure it's better than nothing I suppose!!!

Sky are tricky on this one. I've had multiple dealings with them where I've called to add on Sky Sports and then after he told me the price I said I didn't want it. He then started to panic and offered it to me for half price. I gladly accepted. However I have called to cancel and while waiting patiently for the offer that I expected to come, the agent instead told me the date that it would disconnect. I quickly informed him that this was what I needed and then called back a week later to "change my mind.":o
Since then I have left sky due to it not being available where I currently live only for them to send me an offer to return for 12 months half price! So top package for roughly E50 a month including HD with Multiroom, Sports, Movies etc...
    Good times.
Moral of the story is it will all work out in the end. (It did for me anyway!):D

    Hi purpleblaa,

I have gotten the same offer and am considering returning to them. I rang them today and asked about multiroom and was told that whatever package i chose i woulkd receive for 12 months half price but the multiroom would be the full €15..

Did they offer you the multiroom at half price aswell?

I just got the same deal - essentially my HD sub is now free (that`s how i`m looking at it:-) )

As a follow up I rang to cancel which they did without offering a deal. I then asked if there was any special offers and got the 25% off for 12 months. However I had to give up the half-price HD offer which I had running so saved c.7.50 p/m extra. Happy enough with that as the HD offer only had a few months left anyway.
