Just heard about her death, although it's tragic and she was extremely talented, I think it was completely selfish of her to do this to her family and take her own life like this. From what I have read, she seemed to have parents who cared about her a lot, she obviously preferred to get as wasted as possible than to accept their help and use the talent that she had. It's an awful legacy to leave behind. No doubt, she will become a martyr and everyone will call her a genius. She was just a talented woman who let her family down and turned to drugs and partying because she had one good album. I definitely wouldn't put her in the same league as Jimi Hendrix, Jim, Cobain etc. She was just a talented smack head.

Oh my god, it's been mentioned 100 times or something in this thread already.

I don't like the idea that this can happen and people are still happy to support drug use and play it down, thats all.
Use versus abuse. Just because a person uses drugs recreationally doesn't mean they agree with mis-use of drugs - the opposite of anything.

    Just hearing this now.

Any report on how her death occurred?
Unfortunately down the same road as Jimmy Morrison, Brian Jones, Hendrix, Joplin and Kurt Cobain.

    RIP.

    Her music will live on.

I find these statements about her life being a waste highly offensive.

Was bound to happen, by looking at her frame the past few years it was clear she was addicted and no surprises it was an OD. I dont know how she survived up until now with her drug diet, such a shame because she has some great music, R.I.P.

Probably because the people in Norway didn't put the bullets in their own body.

Nobody chooses to be a drug addict either. Do you think Amy Winehouse wanted to be addicted to heroin and crack and alcohol? Over simplifying drug addictions is really just making an absolute mockery of people who have very serious problems. It's never as simple as getting over it.

Death, in any form, is a sad thing. Elevating one form to a higher status than others is just making light of what is a terribly sad situation for everyone. What happened in Norway is terrible, of course it is, but so is the untimely death of a young person. It's possible to sad about more than one thing at a time.

I have only seen the news in the last 20 mins. I have only read page 1 of this thread and then page 33 and up.

Yeah you can if you're a shit swimmer. Taking drugs (more so the drugs she was on) is getting hooked on something dangerous and extremely addictive and slowly, and purposely killing yourself. Swimming isn't. swimming is waddling around in fucking water. If you can't swim then purposely jump into the sea, you're an idiot. You knew the risks. Same with heroin. You know the risks involved and deserve what you get.

You could swim very well, olympic class, and suddenly get dragged miles out into the sea by a strong current. Or some waves could smack you into rocks. Or you could get eaten by a shark. Or you could get stung by a jellyfish. All sorts of dangerous, life threatening things could happen swimming (Or bungee jumping or drinking or driving or running or fucking) regardless of how good you are or how perceived to be safe it is. There's an element of risk to everything fun. Or.

I find these statements about her life being a waste highly offensive.

    Why is that now?

Can't you recognize the death of a legend when you see it?

She had so much more to give to the world.

I think you need to put it in perspective.

Yes there is an element of risk to everything. More so with drugs though. I'm not saying "don't do drugs rabble rabble rabble". I'm saying know what you're getting yourself into. It's much easier to quit swimming and bungee jumping and running or whatever than it is to quit heroin.

Although you'd rarely see someone dying from fucking. Dying like a king. :pac:

If people weren't warned and didn't full know the dangers of drugs then you may have a point. But whether you get hooked or not you know the risks and have a choice to *not begin* before you begin.

Like I said she chose to take drugs and now it's caught up with her. Those people killed in Norway never chose to put themselves in the way of danger. She'll not get 1/1000th of the sympathy I have for them.

Those are what you call addicts.

I usually avoid making predictions but I'll make one here because it's based on past observations.

There will always be drugs and there will always be addicts. It's how we choose to deal with the issue that makes us a moral person or otherwise.

I say that supporting the criminalization of people for taking drugs is immoral on many fronts.

It's a fucked up world we live in where people can be kidnapped and thrown into a locked room because of the vegetation they have in their pocket.
