    That's no bad thing, imo.

From a Munster perspective, guys like Sherry, Nagle, Murray, Barnes and Zebo got a lot of A time for Munster this year and all went on to get decent enough ML time.

I agree. Leinster were badly stung once this year when there was a match during the 6n IIRC when we had about 10 players off with Ireland and then 23 playing a Magners game and we nearly had a third team out. Toi give an indication of how empty the squad was, Mal O Kelly ended up playing a half.

Playing on HEC weekends seems to be the correct timing for me.

It struck me as silly to play Mal at the time, even if you're really, really stuck, there must be a young guy who's worth looking at even if it's only to know he's not really up to it? A young AIL lock or a tall backrow etc?

Munster are guilty of it too, Hayes played for Munster A this season, iirc.

Getting game time following an injury layoff.
Nothing to be guilty about. Mal O'Kelly was retired. Hayes isn't.

And Hayes finished the season well but I'd have rather have seen Cotter get a run. He's been great for Young Munster this season but I don't think he's gotten much A time for Munster.

There was two injuries mid-week there wasn't enough time to teach some young guy the calls Mal was the coach and took an active part of training with the A team so its not completly crazy

Its fair enough tbh, no squad should really have the ability to field almost 3 full teams. Sometimes things have to be bodged.

what the hell does "bodged" mean? Damn ye cool kids with your hip lingo and your winning smiles.

bodged = shoved together with a bit of duck tape and some hope

If you've ever built something without clear instructions, you'll know exactly what I mean!

Hopefully Nenagh gets to host another B&I cup game and i actually get to see it this time instead of working behind the bar. If not nenagh, Waterford and somewhere in kerry should host the games

Certainly no need to hold them in Limerick anyhow, after the turn out at the game in Garryowen for the Esher (?) game.

Ah, there was probably a few hundred there I guess. cold night. Still though, it'd be better to move them around to where we can't play senior games.

not quite to talk to people. i go because i like watching sport but dont have any friends with the remotest bit of interest in sport. Gets to you after a bit heading off on own, going in last min, and half time a killer.. think about it.

If you want to meet like-minded people while watching a rugby game in a social environment try the pub instead?

check with the munster supporters club about any activities they have planned, pre match functions etc. you could get to know people that way.

Go on to munsterfans.com and strike up conversations with the lunatic fringe there. Lot of them seem to go to matches/dolans afterwards.

Get to the pub! Easiest way to watch a game whilst engaging in light-hearted/serious punditry!

Great night at Dolans, hope some of ye went along!

Hermitage Green (Baz Murphy's band) were superb, hopefully they'll do well in the future. If ye haven't heard of them Felix Jones plays with them too but wasn't there tonight. Youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/hermitagegreen

Met a few of the players and I was chatting to Fla for a while. He's positive about his injury, he and Kearney are just back in Ireland having trained in the US with an NFL team (New York Giants IIRC) for 3 weeks. He said that went well and hopes to back fit and firing for the warmups. He did say this season was pretty nightmarish.

I asked him what he thought of George Hook. He replied: "He's a great comedian!" :D

Paul Darbyshire, former Munster strength and conditioning coach, passed away this morning. Shocked and saddened at the speed and circumstances of his passing.

    He died this morning. RIP
Paul Darbyshire, Munster Head of Fitness and Conditioning, passed away in his sleep peacefully this morning.
Diagnosed last September with Motor Neurone disease, he fought an inspiring battle against the illness before finally succumbing to it in the early hours of the morning.

News of his death was revealed to Munster players and management this morning in Thomond Park as they assembled for stage 2 of the Munster Rugby fundraising cycle. The cycle began yesterday with the opening leg from Cork to Limerick which was attended by his wife Lindsay.

The cycle will continue to Roscrea RFC today and the final Irish stage will see the cyclists go from Portlaoise RFC to Trinity College (via Maynooth) tomorrow.

Ar debhis De go raibh a anam.
